I realized tonight that this is one of the best produced channels on UA-cam. It's consistently quality video and sound, the music and cuts just work. Even when a hire boat is speeding around a corner, giving you a punt. PS: Knew I forgot something. In the early 50's, Coventry Climax got a contract to build a lightweight engine for fire pumps, which also turned out to be a pretty good little motor for racing cars. John Cooper adapted a 1.5 liter Climax in an F2 car, which eventually became a 2.5 liter F1 engine, winning the world championship two times in a row for Jack Brabham. In 1961, the rules were changed to 1.5 liter F1 engines, and suddenly there was a boom with British racing cars like Cooper, Lotus and Lola being powered by Climax's little powerhouses. But by the mid-sixties, Coventry Climax's management decided the cost of making engines for racing was too much. The company was purchased by Jaguar, eventually merged into British Leyland, going through a series of owners before disappearing in the early nineties. And one more thing: If you ever get a chance to look at a Coventry Climax racing engine, you'll notice a medallion on the camshaft cover. Yes, it's Lady Godiva herself, on her horse. And now I've told you far more than you ever wanted to know about an engine with a funny name
The late unlamented Hillman Imp had a Coventry Climax engine which I believe was based on the fire pump model. They were the most unreliable car I've ever owned but at least they were easy to repair and every scrap yard had lots of spares.
I envy you the daily change of scenery when on a narrowboat. After the collision with that hire narrowboat, Otis kept his wits about him, noticed the humans weren't watching, and headed for the treats! Clever puppy. Thanks again for all the incredibly interesting historical tidbits. These are easily the best vlogs on UA-cam.
You two produce my favorite show. The visuals, the music, the editing, the history, the humor and as a 70year old sailor sitting in my man cave in the garage smoking a cigar having a sip I think you are the best show on the internet. Thanks for your attention to details and your splendent communication skills. I sail out of city island in long island sound in the Bronx new York city. If you ever want to see our big apple there is always a spot for you fellas. Stay safe. Have fun. Enjoy life and please keep your videos coming. Thanks ...
One of the reasons I look forward to Friday's is because I know I'll get to see another new video - full of laughter, interesting info and great videography! Thanks again for brightening my day!
Alright - That's it. Myself and some crew are coming round to armour your boat - and install a cannon or two. Glad you were unhurt, that's what counts.
Just love the way you carry on. Always a guaranteed laugh. Thanks for the history I love that. Lady Godiva was a strong lady hey. Thanks so much for taking me along. Please stay safe and take care
You guys really do a superior job of researching the history, and narrating about, the surrounding buildings and towns you travel through. It is very enjoyable. Merci beaucoup.

I have been to Bovington Tank Musuem. Was on a Shearings hol in Bournemouth. I wanted to get myself to Monkey World and a chap wanted that tank musuem. As they were just over the road from each other we both went to investigate. The chap came to Monkey World and in the afternoon I went with him to Bovington Tank Musuem. Was dreading that. Wow I really enjoyed it. We were so lucky. They told us a Tiger 131 was comming out the building on route to their MOT bit. Gosh it was fantastic to see it get moving. Their was only 5 of us to watch learnt a hell of a lot. A brill afternoon spent in there.
Such a beautiful vlog, right from the opening scenes to the end. Thank you for your narration too, very informative. And thank you for showing Otis so often, he's so charming and so, so smart!

Music and video amazing. So glad the damage was minor and Otis got a treat and Gorgonzola, forgive the spelling, was able to upright himself. 😊❤️🤗❤️🤗❤️🐾

Having lived in Coventry for nearly 40 years I've just learned several new things about, what is now, my home city. Another excellent video, thank you. You should have called in for coffee and cake!

Last time we were on the Coventry canal was when they were demolishing lots of old factory buildings. I do recall being a bit bemused by the towpath ‘art’ work, I’m with you on that one Shaun! Lovely to see the regeneration that has taken place, it really was a bit of a wasteland way back when. 😊 xx

The centre is much polished up as Coventry is celebrating its history at the moment and has never looked so smart. Thanks for adding to its higher profile.
Y’all, I thoroughly enjoyed this vlog, especially the video from the drone and maybe still the drone, not up in the sky then, at canal-level at the turn at Sutton Stop. Thank you for every bit of it, give each other a hug for me, and hug Otis as well! I’m off now to catch up with yesterday’s new vlog. ♥️
I’ve been watching you guys for over a year and you are the best narrow boat vlog. Thank you for your historical research and great camera work. Hated watching Silver Fox get bumped.

Hi Guy's and Otis. Another great vlog, Nice piece of history told very professionally. So sorry Silver Fox got rammed, the guy obviously had never done Canal boating before as he was going to fast and was to near the middle and didn't take any evasive action before he walloped Silver Fox. Glad you where able to paint over the wound.. You Guys take care of yourselves and Otis. Very Best Wishes Old Skipper :) xx
Love ❤ you guys. Really brings a smile to my face today as I have been through a lot this past 4 weeks. I'm so glad you found your beautiful dog. . You are to me the soul guys of the water ways. Thank you again Xxxx
So glad the crash wasn’t a major problem! I really enjoy hearing about the history of the many places you visit. I have visited Coventry on different trips to England, and found the history of the area fascinating, especially the facts surrounding Coventry Cathedral. It’s quite a moving experience to stand in the ruins of the original. I’m still playing catch up on your playlist; just this morning watched the launch of Silverfox. Can’t say why, but found it quite emotional. Beautiful boat and beautifully filmed! Best to both of you ❤️.
I wish you would have mentioned that the PM knew that Coventry was going to be bombed by the Germans during WWII but didn't tell the people because he didn't want HItler to know that the British had learned their enigma code... tough choices by a great British man & PM!
Another great vlog guys, I really used to hate history at school, but you make it so much fun, I have learned more history from watching your vlogs than I ever learned in school so thank you for that. Stay safe
Great entertainment guys, fantastic scenery and knowledge of the areas you visit. Thanks for sharing. Otis is looking very demure, but I'm sure he's a little tyke.
"After watching the footage, the hire boat owner apologised..." - we sense that there's another video entirely condensed into that one sentence. Glad all three of you are unscathed - keep on doing what you do: love your work.
Thank you Colin for all the research you do. You fit so much into each vlog and I learn a lot each Saturday morning. You have a gift for turning facts into story.
Another fun vlog! I really enjoy the humor and scenery, and the way you and Shaun joke together. Thank you for the work, planning, and the hours of editing that you go through to put one of these lovely vlogs together!
Whenever I watch your vlogs I feel like I'd had a mini-vacation from the hum-drum day to day. Love you guys!! "The Beverley Sisters! OMG! A blast from the past - Colin your adorable!
Wow that was some smack , I’m surprised it doesn’t happened more often with such long boats and narrow canals , wonderful blog again guys , standards just keep going up . Always good to learn something new every day, peeping Tom was my brain filler of the day , keep well guys and keep enjoying every day
Full of history and information as usual. Glad Silver Fox wasn't badly damaged by the other boat. Otis is a star as usual. You are both so lucky to be living the lifestyle you are. Keep well and safe. Best wishes James.
Wow did that boatsman think he was on a power boat towing a skier behind him? Glad all is well! You 3 have a Great Weekend!💜 Rumors are there is a Birthday onboard Silver Fox this coming weekend. Happy Birthday Colin! Cheers 🍻
Oh my goodness, that must have been scary! Glad you three are alright. Well, Otis is extra alright after that special treat he got himself. lol Take care and be safe. 🐾💚
I absolutely love your videos. I live in Idaho in the United States. I am learning so much about the history of the canals and my husband and I both love your photography. Keep smiling the both of you!
I think that's the first time I have seen the Coventry Canal. I loved all the stories and I loved the statue of James Brindley. I now have found the link between James Brindley and my neighbour...Lawrence Brindley b.1635. History, genealogy....all wonderful stuff. Love and hugs...a big nose kiss for Otis.
I'm a real sucker for canal history so I really enjoyed that one. Colin, you've always been quite nifty on the camera but I've noticed a real improvement especially in experimental things. Really super viewing.

Glad you enjoyed it
Love ❤ you guys. Really brings a smile to my face today as I have been through a lot this past 4 weeks. I'm so glad you found your beautiful dog. . You are to me the soul guys of the water ways. Thank you again
Xxxx
Always a pleasure Cindy
Stay safe
Hehe, nice one! x
Great entertainment guys, fantastic scenery and knowledge of the areas you visit. Thanks for sharing. Otis is looking very demure, but I'm sure he's a little tyke.
Oh he definitely is!
Brilliant vlog guy's......Many Happy Returns of the day for Sunday Colin.🎂🎁🎈
Aww, thanks Sue! x
"After watching the footage, the hire boat owner apologised..." - we sense that there's another video entirely condensed into that one sentence. Glad all three of you are unscathed - keep on doing what you do: love your work.
Yeah, we did cut a lot out 🤣
Thank you Colin for all the research you do. You fit so much into each vlog and I learn a lot each Saturday morning. You have a gift for turning facts into story.
Thank you so much, Carol. 🙏❤️
Good grief why is someone always running into Silver Fox. Glad all 3 of you boys are okay. Thanks for sharing your adventures! That cutie pie Otis. 💛

Mostly swearing and the other chap apologising.
Glad your boat is alright. And you didn't get hurt.
Cheers
Whenever I watch your vlogs I feel like I'd had a mini-vacation from the hum-drum day to day. Love you guys!! "The Beverley Sisters! OMG! A blast from the past - Colin your adorable!
Definitely a blast from the past 🤣🤣
Wow that was some smack , I’m surprised it doesn’t happened more often with such long boats and narrow canals , wonderful blog again guys , standards just keep going up . Always good to learn something new every day, peeping Tom was my brain filler of the day , keep well guys and keep enjoying every day
It happens quite a lot xx
Full of history and information as usual. Glad Silver Fox wasn't badly damaged by the other boat. Otis is a star as usual. You are both so lucky to be living the lifestyle you are. Keep well and safe. Best wishes James.
Glad you enjoyed it, James. Thanks mate 👍🏻
Penelope Pitstop was my favourite.
Yeah, she was cool x
Wow did that boatsman think he was on a power boat towing a skier behind him? Glad all is well!
You 3 have a Great Weekend!💜
Rumors are there is a Birthday onboard Silver Fox this coming weekend.
Happy Birthday Colin! Cheers 🍻
Haha! Might crack open the Cherry Coke 👍🏻
Oh my goodness, that must have been scary! Glad you three are alright. Well, Otis is extra alright after that special treat he got himself. lol Take care and be safe. 🐾💚
Thanks, Rita. You too!
I absolutely love your videos. I live in Idaho in the United States. I am learning so much about the history of the canals and my husband and I both love your photography. Keep smiling the both of you!
Awesome! Thank you!
You certainly have some excitement. Glad everything turned out OK. Love the music today. The hero of wacky races has to be Dastardly.
Yeah, everything was fine xx
I think that's the first time I have seen the Coventry Canal. I loved all the stories and I loved the statue of James Brindley. I now have found the link between James Brindley and my neighbour...Lawrence Brindley b.1635. History, genealogy....all wonderful stuff. Love and hugs...a big nose kiss for Otis.
Nice one! Will do 💜
I'm a real sucker for canal history so I really enjoyed that one. Colin, you've always been quite nifty on the camera but I've noticed a real improvement especially in experimental things. Really super viewing.
Thanks so much Stephen
History and Humour! So professionally created.
Thank you so much 🙏❤️
