@@hammsuke3981 I don't understand why people keep bringing this up. When people say cross-DC PF, they do not mean cross region. Cross-DC PF should be locked to your physical DC, i.e. the DC you can actually travel to. So all of NA DC will have one unified PF, and all of JP DC will have another unified PF. This will solve 90% of the problem with PF. This isn't rocket science.
imma be the one to say it, if no one went to aether for high end content and everyone sat where they were. there would unironically be alot of pfs on every data center or atleast a enough anyone that wants to play the content could
Yeah I get that it can't be helped since the idea of everybody in one place *is appealing* but it's certainly a problem we introduce to ourselves....besides Dynamis....they just need more people in general since even their duty finder is slower haha
Not just that, but it doesn't help to have parties split across dcs. It's not like the same amount of people will raid on each DC as on Aether. If it was all in one DC, most of the people that want to raid can find parties easier because there's a higher concentration of raiders.
Tbh they should just revert to how it was upon DT release until they can create a cross DC party finder. Its far easier for statics to travel to Dynamis than everyone going to Aether
TBH I still see a lot of static friends using Dynamis now since not everybody wants to live on Eether to avoid being blocked by queues - it does make me wonder how badly crystal has suffered though
@rjhick1 tbh i see this take so many times, and it's so dumb. Pf raiding is not the only activity in the game, statics from different dcs can be formed and people can RP and play with friends whose characters are in other dcs. There's zero reason for them to drop cross dc just because of pf, it's a necessary evil until they figure out cross region pf.
Ive been saying since anabaseios that this will kill casual raiding. Yes hardcore raiders and ultimate raiders will still dc travel and its no big deal because thats all they do. But the average player doesnt do thst. The sverage player just opens pf and sees how much or how little people are doing and if theres content they want to do they hop in otherwise they go do something else. Theyre not going to take the extra step of dc travel to go and raid. It may not sound like a big deal but humans are lazy and they will rake any obstacle ad a sign to not do something. No one is complaining because the vocal minority of hardcore raiders dont have an issue. But the average raider is far more casual and theyre just...not raiding like they used to.
These new changes are so stupid it’s insane. I get people want to raid on their home dc but everyone is going to want to go to aether to raid because that’s the most populated and that’s where most of their friends are. They need to do a cross dc pf and then remove the restrictions two months after a savage tier. SE new DC travels rules are so stupid the game lies to your face saying the servers are congested when everyone whose in aether has a 1-5 person queue in all the servers in aether including peak times now they shouldn’t punish the people who wanted to transfer to dynamis. Next patch expect most raiders to just server transfer back to aether because the restrictions are ridiculous.
It was a mistake to enable DC travel without cross-DC PF. A unified PF for every region should be SE's top priority at this point. DC travel sucks to do content because you do not have access to a bunch of stuff when traveling. It's ruins the experience. This was massive oversight on SE's part.
on the other hand, it allowed friends from other DCs to simply play together without having to homeworld xfer, leaving their FCs and partners in the process but if they did wait for cross DC PF to launch it, we wouldnt have DC travel until at least patch 8.0 at the earliest and be forced to deal with login queue (ultimate) again with no way to allieviate it this expac. theres so many variables, pros, and cons to just focus on one specific desired outcome
I would probably agree that players shouldn't be allowed to travel to either Primal or Aether unless your character is from Dynamis and maybe Crystal. If Dynamis especially didn't have the ability to move, then raiding would be incredibly difficult. They do not have a very large player base to begin with, and a significant portion of the people who are there are new to the game.
Yeah this is the main reason why turning off DC travel doesn't work because Dynamis and Crystal players to a lesser extent would be unable to raid much if at all
DC travel is huge for hunters, too. It isn’t just raiders. Can you imagine sitting in a travel queue for a minute while an s rank timer is ticking away, only to get tossed into a completely different server than the one you selected.
Yeah in my mind an auto join feature would be an option and not forced cuz there's still good reason to want a specific world like hunts or marketboard. RP too!
i'm sure that cross DC pf would need more than simply linking parties like CWP does as when you queue the group in, which datacenter's duty server is used? have they liked the DC duty worlds together? do they make a new set of mini servers to facilitate duties commenced by parties from multiple datacenters?, do they pick a random DC to force visit others to first, then zone them into the duty using that DC's duty server? (repeats the DC travel problem but just automated). they probably have to develop a cross-DC-duty world thats all logical Datacenters share first before they can deploy cross DC party queueing hence the absurdly long implementation forecast. this is just my guess. alternatively. they could spend multiple expacs completely rewriting and overhauling the entire server structure and potentially botch the playability experience for everyone. costing money and player count (or worse, cause a need to delay patches and expacs to fix said botch)
@Sonicrida years to make that change is completely fucking ridiculous. The devs are taking the piss or high on crack. It's completely unacceptable and an embarrassment to the entire gaming industry. It should take a week. Maybe it's time to just check out gw2
I mean, I don't think it's wrong that it shouldn't take that long. The problem is their planning and capacity/resource allocation. They just don't think it's important enough to do now and so it isn't being given priority (just a guess)
yeah I'm guessing it's nice being the "Travel Hub" so you benefit from people who wanna do roulettes when they aren't raiding + people aren't going to Aether haha

As someone who moved to Adamantoise back when it was low pop to get away from congestion I'm actually thankful for the current travel rules. It sucks being in a queue just to get into your own homeworld. I wish it didn't become a popular server for voyagers but it's often congested when other aether worlds are not. If FCs could transfer from one world to another completely intact without losing anything I'd 100% move again.
Yeahhhhh I think both Dynamis and Crystal lose out a bit. For the people that don't mind, you can still *get* to Aether but you need to move your character their off peak hours to have a chance. Still less than ideal though
Why? They are arbitrarily dividing players into 4 different data centers, meaning if everyone is on aether, the party would fill 3 to 4 times quicker than we do on individual DC. If you are only raiding through PF, I'm pretty sure you'd prefer shorter wait times than your sense of belonging attached to a datacenter.
It's a little more complicated for me cuz I like the fast parties too but it's really nice to have access to friends and other features while I'm waiting in pf. The wait times have been pretty ok tbh although I've had a slower time filling up parties for m3s lately.....mainly tanks lol

It was in a few of the media tour interviews. I don't remember all of the ones where it was mentioned but I believe one was the interview on Meoni's channel with Shenpai and Yoshi-P near the end IIRC. There's a chance it was in Arthars' interview too......
I've always said that if you want to /learn/ a fight, you do it in Crystal PF and if you want to /clear/ a fight, you go to Aether. As someone who played on Aether for 5 years and now I'm on Crystal and have been here for over 3, I can safely say that Crystal's raiding scene is there. People just tend to either get bogged down by all the RP venues in PF or they have a more hardcore mindset and don't want to deal with Crystal's more casual approach. I've done every bit of content over the past three years, all on Crystal and all on par with Aether's progression.
@@Sonicrida It's a completely different vibe, yeah. People are more patient, more understanding of learning groups. On Aether, my experience is even groups marked as learning or practice will have leavers after 2-3 wipes. Whereas on Crystal, you're there for the whole lockout and spirits stay high.
@@lunawendorf3350 I second this as someone whos only just dipping into PF ever, and residing on Crystal. Its been a nice experience clearing some things on it, and I even join learning parties on my off time to help people get their first clear. Been quite fun, despite not really raiding all that much in the previous expansion cuz I heard all the bad stories about PF and didn't want to travel to aether.
You talk a lot about PF and that one isn't even affected by the change. The biggest part of the game that was affected by this BS change was the hunting scene - more specifically S ranks, with it being nigh impossible to get to them in time without using auto tp plugins, which a LOT of people do. P.S. y'all are coping if you think PF is better without DC travel lol. If anything itll just force ppl to make alts and relog to raid lol. Having all players go to the same DC to raid is the sole reason Ultimates are even clearable in PF.
Personally, I really just wish they went back to how it was set up in endwalker. Sure, you lose some quality of life activities you could do, but if you're going over there to raid, do you really need your retainers, your house or timed nodes? The value of having a universal pool of everyone doing an activity together in one place was way better then splitting it across all these different pools. Farming wings right now, there's a lot of times where there's 0 or 1 group doing Everkeep extreme because I'm doing it a month behind the hype, and if that 1 group doesn't need a role I feel comfortable filling, I'm stuck either transfering around and hoping I find something elsewhere, or putting my own group up and waiting for it to fill, I cleared all of DSR & Savage in EW through PF, and a rarely spent more then 5 minutes waiting for a group since everyone was in the same pool.
Yes I do, because instead of having 5~10 parties at my prog point on primal waiting an hour to fill bc lack of healers, now I have 20~40 parties at my prog point on aether waiting an hour to fill bc lack of healers, but I lose all of that plus my linkshells/fc chat to pass time.
@@Ratoncitow thats a dumb ass take, lol the reason why there is 20 - 40 parties is because people think aether is the be all end all...if there wasnt no dc travel...there wouldnt be any issue
Yeah it kinda sucks seeing the "less popular" activities struggling tbh. I think part of it is the nature of not being there for the early farm yeah but I'm hoping they still fill pretty well. I haven't tried to make parties myself half because I'm rusty on the EXs lol but yeah I know not everybody cares about the things mentioned. It does suck for the people that just wanna do content. Would be sick if there was just a lobby system, think call of duty or halo. You can just get with everyone without having to log into the game, and then you can select your duty for raid and just go in. And when you leave you can go back to the lobby or log into your world without having to leave.
NGL this actually sounds kinda fire haha in general I think there are a lot of improvements that could be made to the party finder system - not a bad video idea XD
@@Sonicrida Aether. Party Finder is usually just straight up empty when I hop on. I mean, there's the endless flood of night club advertisements but empty otherwise.
They need to downsize on the amount of server worlds now that it’s overly bloated and a ton of worlds are just dead now. Then add in cross DC duty finders, at least tied to the region you’re in. Hope it gets better for everyone as time goes on, I personally quit the game after completing DT, the game just isnt the same for me anymore.
Iirc, CU3 said DC travel uses different tech/code from World Travel, which may mean making Cross-DC PF is much harder than it looks(considering the Spaghetti code the game has, it may even be impossible unless they rework the entire server system from the ground up, which would take more time away from releasing actual content). If it is, I hope they can figure out a way to make it work, since this has been a problem ever since DC travel has been introduced.
The problems with DC travel honestly for me have nothing to do with whatever my home DC is being dead, I don't really care where I'm playing, I care that there are as many pfs as possible with as many people as possible there. We shouldn't even be dealing with data centers to begin with, wow has everyone in each region playing together, there's no west coast east coast difference anymore. The way DC travel has been handled just makes me angry
I was really hoping that their cloud data center test would've been the beginning of a more unified data center but we haven't really heard much about the results of that since last year
A simple solution. - Don't be in a static - Don't take the game so serious as if your life depends on it to the point where you're taking days off work. Lmao. Now let's see how many FFXIV cultist this will upset.
How is that an issue? If people have the time and resources to take this option, there is nothing wrong with that. It is common practice for statics to take time off that go for a week one clear. That way, when it comes time for reclears, they can dedicate a few hours on one day instead of multiple days throughout the week. Nothing wrong with looking at something from a different perspective.
Most of the people taking time off are good enough at the game they they would rather just do the entire tier in a week and have experienced it than try to schedule out the raid prog over the course of a month or longer. The initial day of the tier release is also usually the best time to make gil for the tier if you are making tinctures or food.
Unlocking DC travel without a cross-DC Party Finder was THE biggest mistake this game has ever made

@@glimsomnia True, but relevant here because the launch of DT blocked off almost all Data Centers except Materia (OCE). In my case, only Dynamis and Materia were open.
@Sonicrida You mentioned that Yoshi P has said they are working on a unified party finder. Can you link us to where/when he said this? Very interested to know when this was. Maybe if the community puts forth enough interest in an organized and professional way, we can influence SE to accelerate their timeline on this feature.
It was in a few of the media tour interviews. I don't remember all of the ones where it was mentioned but I believe one was the interview on Meoni's channel with Shenpai and Yoshi-P near the end IIRC. There's a chance it was in Arthars' interview too......
@@Sonicridano he said it would take years and years to create. The idea was to have rewards for doing raids on data centers and rotate the rewards.
You cant just accelerate program design it takes as long as it takes otherwise it doesnt work.
I don't want to not be able to get into my home server because of raiders
no they arent a mess they are essential
I've always said that if you want to /learn/ a fight, you do it in Crystal PF and if you want to /clear/ a fight, you go to Aether. As someone who played on Aether for 5 years and now I'm on Crystal and have been here for over 3, I can safely say that Crystal's raiding scene is there. People just tend to either get bogged down by all the RP venues in PF or they have a more hardcore mindset and don't want to deal with Crystal's more casual approach. I've done every bit of content over the past three years, all on Crystal and all on par with Aether's progression.
@@lunawendorf3350 what makes crystal so good for learning? Better vibes?
It kinda sucks that basically *someone* always has to lose until we get Cross-DC PF
Even in EW, less popular activities struggled to fill, and not having access to things sucked. Going back to that doesn't fix things.
@@archmagusnova no one is saying get rid of dc travel but i def think they should keep the limitations set so it doesnt starve the player base in other non aether dcs
typo in your website link in desc :)
OMG thank you haha I fixed it!
So this is why I can't find a group for literally anything in Party Finder.
What DC do you play on?
I was really hoping that their cloud data center test would've been the beginning of a more unified data center but we haven't really heard much about the results of that since last year
There's a reason people raid on aether. Crystal players are trash and Primal is just worse. lol
They ahould have never opened DC travel. They need to cancel it altogether and force people to culticate theiir own raiding groups in thier own DCs
my condolences for everyone who still plays Dawntrail, i had also the problem with data center travel on launch
A simple solution.
- Don't be in a static
- Don't take the game so serious as if your life depends on it to the point where you're taking days off work.
Lmao. Now let's see how many FFXIV cultist this will upset.
booooooo I am a very scary FFXIV cultist 👻 aint no way "the god legacy HD" 💀
All the seious raiders have permanently transfered to Light or Aether anyway, so this cat is out of the bag. The damage done is irreversible
Man the audio is so low.
People need to stay tf on their DCs. Im sick and tired of seeing all these “Travelers” on my DC. I often kick them from my instances. lol.
statics should not have problems with this at all. all 8 people playing on 1 datacenter and they could just go in raid without problems
Statics have members who aren't all on the same DC these days because of travel. It greatly expanded recruitment options
If you are taking off work to raid in a video game, you have bigger issues than que time lol. How pathetic
How is that an issue? If people have the time and resources to take this option, there is nothing wrong with that. It is common practice for statics to take time off that go for a week one clear. That way, when it comes time for reclears, they can dedicate a few hours on one day instead of multiple days throughout the week. Nothing wrong with looking at something from a different perspective.
someone lives life by the business, i'd say that's far more pathetic tbh, workslave.
Most of the people taking time off are good enough at the game they they would rather just do the entire tier in a week and have experienced it than try to schedule out the raid prog over the course of a month or longer. The initial day of the tier release is also usually the best time to make gil for the tier if you are making tinctures or food.
People just take time off to have fun with what they enjoy! Nothing wrong with that
Yeah there are a lot of reasons why it's nice to take off honestly
