@@countreekidd And THAT is the problem! Idiots ARE buying them at $60,000 USD ($80,000 CDN) because for some reason they either have lots of cash are are SIMPLY UNFAZED by $1200 per month payments for 72 months!
Of course, if i had the PERSONAL CASH to buy the GMC AT4x, I would have no issue with buying it because YES it actually IS a great 4x4 off-road vehicle with some very good interior luxury features.
Again, there seems to be at least FIFTY THOUSAND PEOPLE who are WILLING to spend this money because even though pre-orders aren't even open yet, GMC has gotten so much customer-initiated dealer interest that all 50,000 of the initial higher-end 2023/2024 GMC Canyon AT4/AT4x models WILL ALREADY BE SOLD OUT!
It's INSANE !!! Doesn't matter WHAT brand or model is out there! If It's a 4x4/Offroader such as a Bronco, a Jeep Gladiator, any Jeep Rubicon model, a Ford F150 Raptor, a GMC Canyon or a Sierra AT4/AT4x, a Nissan Pro 4x, a Toyota TRD pro, a Colorado ZR2 or even a modler F150 Tremor 4x4 ... most dealers have completely sold all they have and have looooong reservation lineups for ALL of them.
There is literally NONE of the above trucks and 4x4s on ANY sales lot right now OR they are already sold and just being readied for pickup and dealer or aftermarket add-on installations!
I was asking about the Bronco Wildcat Sasquatch edition with 37 inch tires and the Lux/Tow package as my Weekend Warrior vehicle and even If I put money down NOW, I can't get one until late Spring 2023 in the Metro Vancouver area dealer network!
My local Ford dealer said he is selling every single non-reserved F150 FX4, Tremor, Raptor and Bronco he gets on his lot within hours!
When I was at his store there were four customers picking their Tremors up and they had been waiting 2 to 4 months for theirs. You can't even buy a simple FX4 package F150 from the lot because they are so behind on keeping up with demand!
He had NO FX4s --- and only TWO Ford F150 XLTs on the lot which were already reserved for the local city engineering department!
It is INSANE how much demand for 4x4 trucks there are in both Canada AND the USA!

Absolutely love what GMC has done with the new Canyon! Very capable and incredible good looks and styling! A few detractors for me, however (for those wishing to off-road AND daily drive): Why no Super Cruise? It still uses leaf springs whereas other manufacturers have gone to coil overs. I get why the other Canyon/Colorado models have rear leaf springs. They provide better handling, comfort, stability, and safety when towing and hauling heavier loads. But 99% of the AT4x and ZR2 models are going to be used for off roading more than they are hauling and towing. Even when its going to be hauling/towing its gonna be light loads like dirt bikes, side by sides, ATV's, snowmobiles, and camping/overlanding supplies. Which NEVER weigh over 4000 lbs. Which isn't really considered a "Heavy Load". Coil springs are 100x better off road, and they're much easier to upgrade/modify than leaf springs. The Ford Ranger Tremor (and I believe the brand new unreleased Raptor models are the exact same way). The ZR2 and AT4x models should come with rear coil springs, while the other models should come with leaf springs in the rear!

Similar to most high-priced off road vehicles in the US. I remember seeing a fancy lifted Wrangler during a flood a couple of years ago where the driver didn’t want to go through foot deep non-moving water. The jeep probably had a 6” lift and a snorkel. The driver turned around because he was scared to drive through water. I suspect similar people will be willing to drop $60-70k on these trucks but never take them anywhere.

    • @furmanmackey5479
      @furmanmackey5479 2 роки тому

@@mrjack8849 I know a gent, right now, who paid top dollar for a Jeep very much like the one you described in your response. His Jeep was ordered from the factory with what was probably every bell and whistled available on the option list for the 2019 model year to include lift kit and snorkel. Just looking at that particular Wrangler you would think the owners were off roading fools. And you would be wrong in that assumption. I'd be willing to place a small wager that that Jeep has never been on any surface more challenging than a hard packed dirt road since it looks every bit as
"pretty" as it did the day he drove it home. It had just over 25,000 miles on it (the last time I had the opportunity to look inside the cab this past June), does not appear, at least to my old eyes, to have a single dent, ding, scratch, or scrape anywhere on it. The soft top is still in its box, unopened and I can only assume it is still useable. I don't sit on our front porch day in and day out,
by any stretch, counting and taking notes on every vehicle that passes our house but I'm about 65% sure that Wrangler has never been driven in the rain or on a day when rain
was in the forecast. I can only assume the owners wanted a "toy" but if that was the case they sure don't "play" with it much.

True, but the Frontier even has a rear locker and that's probably as much truck as most any urban user would need. The tiers with GMC are just weird and seem poorly thought out for a line of trucks whose main focus is off road (GMC mor than Chevy here).
I feel like they really should be selling two canyons with additional option selections (interior, HUD, lockers, sunroof). Really, my biggest actual turn off is the white interior on the ATX4.

Likely the same as the current v6 which is why they won't say eight now, because people would slam them for it. Or because if the higher tune for the 2.7l 4 cylinder actually produces less efficient mpg.... not gonna be a good look. Pretty much, these will be status vehicles as workers and those who want daily drivers will stay away.

Seems ironic that only in trucks do we directly compare the full-size to mid size…. For cars and SUVs we don’t since we all know some people will prioritize a smaller size. I’m a Ford guy too.
You should see it IS a premium rig. The shocks are several thousand dollars alone! The winch is well over $3k, it’s $4k CAD on the SuperDuty,,,,,,. The lockers front and rear,,,, the tech and design. A Mid Sized truck with 430 lb ft of torque??? It every bit a Rubicon Gladiator level truck that’s fully loaded! Plus extremely good shocks. Price out a fully loaded Gladiator Rubicon 4x4 Diesel (the closest in power to this). It will be similar or even more $$$. This will drive very nice. It will be a really great daily driver,,,, the Gladiator??? Not as nice.
It would be a serious competitor to a Ranger Raptor WITH the added front locker. A Ranger Raptor will exceed this price.
It’s a whole new class of mid sized truck.
I have tried to go to mid sized trucks and just can’t do it. I drive a 2022 F150 Tremor XLT level interior with almost all the available options at that level including Pro Power Onboard. No twin moonroofs. I love the truck!! If it weren’t for the Pro power Onboard, I would have bought a Chevy diesel Trail Boss. Instead I have a 2022 Tahoe Premier with the Diesel in it. I don't like the fact that there is not a hard button/knob for the headlights. Auto headlights are great, don't get me wrong, but when it is foggy or raining during the day most of the time they will not trigger. There are states that have laws if windshield wipers are on lights have to be on. Same in fog, if visibility is diminished to less than 500 feet the light must be on. Would just be easier if there were a knob. Sometimes you don't know there is fog till after you are driving then you have to go into the infotainment system to activate taking your attention off the road.
