Downshift you don't need to go into the vehicle icon to turn on the lights. There is a dedicated icon at the top of the screen that takes you into the lights, one press and you're there.
I think its worth mentioning regarding the headlights, that to flash your lights, you can still use the stalk but that is the only functionality available through the stalk for headlights.
@@carbonking53 I can't see it being unsafe and I definitely don't think it's "stupid". Different, yes, but I bet it will be more common. Like cruise buttons on the wheel vice a stalk, or push-button vice a key or rotary shifter vice a lever, etc.
@@Dusdaddy If you have to look away from your driving sight line to locate an on screen button then it's time you are not watching what's going on in front of you. Light controls on the stalk require no look. Just reach and rotate. It's very simple to see how on the stalk is safer.
Im kind of sick of all these new vehicles putting their controls in a touch screen. Just give me manual controls that i can touch and feel and know for sure that i hit them without moving my eyes from the road.
@MY LIFE IS LEGENDARY the current Tacoma didn't do anything better than the previous generation of colorado and canyon. Yes, they need to upgrade a lot of its just fluff and they'll be even further behind. But sheeple will love it. Toyota is banking that they'll settle for less, again.
Small point regarding the comment @ the 5:20 mark about being able to spec 4WD on any trim except the Elevation. The Elevation is available in 4WD, but it's the only trim that's available in 2WD.
The biggest down to me is lack of foot room for the driver and the uneven floor on the passenger side floor. I sell these, I have owned 3 of the past Canyons and they did not fix this problem with the new body. Great power and tech....
For me, it's the ridiculous price gouging. Nobody sells these for under $45,000 and NONE are Denalis. I would have to buy it direct from GM and the price difference is a whopping $3,200! And that's AFTER I add the sunroof and multifunction tailgate. Those were the only two options I factored in with the truck in TWO wheel drive. Ridiculous. I paid $11,000 less for my current car when new.
I love the Canyons, I just can't get over the ugly white and tacky red accents on the AT4X. Reminds me of something id see a VW or Honda boy do to the inside of their cars. I'd rather get the Colorado ZR2 for nearly 6-8k USD less if it was between that and the AT4X. However, if I was getting anything other than the top trim, I'd get GMC Canyon.
That's easy they could have picked a better transmission instead of the horrible 8 speed transmission. They could have added the diesel as an option made the back seat. Bigger have all there canyons? What's 11 inch in the center in front of the Steering wheel. and multiproagate?
First off, I really love the truck.The off road capability is superb. The bad is cosmetic. I don't like the white in the interior. I don't like the price either. They're pretty proud of it. Still, it's a great package.
Evidently there is no one on here that was in the military or works on a military installation and had/has to deal with the requirement to dim your lights when entering the base. Having to access your headlights options through the touch screen every time is ridiculous. That being said I still think it is a good looking truck.
Very well organized presentation and great copy - you hit the important parts that differentiate the 4 trims nicely. Let's face it, the perfect midsize truck doesn't exist. For me it would look like the GMC Canyon AT4X - have the Ford Raptors 3.0 direct and port fuel injected engine, 10 speed transmission and Fox suspension, but would have Toyota's resale value and 'predicted' better reliability, lower ownership costs ............ right ?

By the way, the boys at TFL had their infotainment screen fail. There goes the light control. 😡
I've seen other reviews and the stupidity about that light switch! Why would you need a light switch if it has auto and they still have a place to have and switch your lights. The people complaining about it already has
Did GM ever fix the issues with that 8 speed? Ford looks for solutions. GM hires attorneys and tells people there's nothing wrong. I have a feeling if I look this up I'm going to find issues past 2021.
I had a 89 GMC s15 are the 4.3 l of first year I think that would look better than every year after that push button 4-wheel drive sucks you put it in yourself never had a problem I know people with the blazers that had that push button for low whatever and all I got was two-wheel drive and stuck. lived in the Catskill mountains never got stuck I know it's just a Rebadged blaser Chevy like everybody says but it's not just watch the video Chevy's good butll GMC is great I still have my 89 s15 and I still can't get stuck we don't have enough snow anymore but it's great and I'll never get rid of it I took off the throttle body put the vortec fuel injection on it I'll send a picture the motor looks like a little Camaro motor 5.0 or 5.7.l hate that s***. 305,350 a 4.3 262🌪️🌪️🌪️

Fighting the urge to trade my 2023 Tacoma TRD off-road for a 2024 Canyon AT4. Tacoma is reliable yes but it drives like crap on the highway and the interior, while functional and utilitarian, is seriously lacking in quality materials. The plastics scratch so easily it is ridiculous. And even after a OTT tune the shifting is still lackluster and the engine is simply underpowered. It has to downshift on the slightest grades to maintain speed. The HP and torque of the Canyon should be a welcome change.
@@elche1976 Yep and nothing is free.. if you want an insane 430 pounds of torque in a nidsize pickup (yes fucking please) then you have to pay a couple bucks extra for fuel. To be clear, I quite honestly wish the 2023 ZR2 I ordered was coming with turbo charged V8 mileage.
@joaly incontroly same. I'll get my truck and it'll be the 391 torque but I'll pay the $400 or whatever for the 430 as well. If I was just using it around town as a city car, probably not. Edit- honestly I'd be more than happy with the WT 4x4. But the 2" lift the Trail Boss gets madness new go for that. Don't care about the heated seats/ wheel or adaptive cruise. I'll upgrade to get the cruise control and the dampened tailgate. The other stuff that comes is whatever. And the spray in bed liner. My build is 39.9k. And I'll do the upgrade to the higher torque engine later. Glad they offer it like that instead of making me last 50k+ for zr2 for fluff I don't need or use.
I downgraded from a 2020 Canyon to a 2023 Canyon elevation. These trucks are fleet trucks used for service work with a cap on the bed. Here are what they took out / downgraded: 4-Low Dampened tail gate, new tail gate drops hard and the door handle pops out 5ft bed, nearly useless for work No more sliding sun visor, no lights in visor Power driver seat gone Voice control without a subscription No towing capability (no hitch from factory) Center console smaller No overhead sunglasses compartment No driver/passenger dedicated dome light As mentioned before, the 5tf bed introduced all kinds of problems. I can't fit a 6ft ladder in the bed, therfore I now have a ladder rack over the cap. The 4 banger is extremely sensitive to aerodynamic loads, as a result I'm getting significantly worse fuel economy. The 23 is also plagued with the new technology woes. Constant anti collision false alerts, annoying stop/start and the absolute abomination of a user interface where most useful buttons now are. Speaking of which, the backlight doesn't dim so at night there's this massive rectangle of light in your peripheral vision. I have to throw something over the screen at night to properly see the road. Also, the headlights are aimed too high from the factory and people will always be flashing their high beams at you. It's extremely frustrating. If I could chose my truck, I would ditch this Canyon and go back to my 2020
'Good Fuel Economy?'....... hardly ... I get better fuel economy with my F150 w/ 5.0 liter V8 Engine..... seriously. This thing gets POOR fuel economy for its size and for having a 4 cylinder engine. Also... I sat in one of these..... there is NO ROOM for an average sized adult in the 2nd row...... knees will be jammed into the driver seat-back....unnatural vertical setback position.... Are you really comparing this thing to a Tundra TRD PRO? Bwahahahaha..... ok.
Pickups need to start coming out as EVS. Letting the battery stick out about 5-6 inches into the truck bed is NOT an issue for some people like me. That way we can get some decent range instead of trying to squeeze the tiniest possible one into the back seat. I would buy an EV Canyon if the battery was that large. One thing that makes no sense, Ford won't use the engine bay to hold the battery and it can hold a TON of stuff in there. I don't want to spend all night charging my truck when the range isn't even 50 miles... EV technology so far, has not impressed me and it will always cost a fortune. To the drunk EV fans who say "Naaaaah!" If there is NO competition, there is no reason to drop prices. In fact, despite what Tesla fanboys claim, the brand HIKED its prices thousands of dollars on all models. I am not spending more than I have to if in a few years, they suddenly drop them $3-4,000. But I get the feeling they won't. There's no alternative so they won't make them more affordable.

I believe you can turn on your brights from the stalk as well.
I traded in a BMW X1 yesterday for the AT4 and very impressed by the quality and finishes of this truck. Super excited!
