Hi there, Washington neighbor! Fantastic trellis building video! I learned a lot. After I finish watching I might go and build the second table for my miter saw. My deceased husband was a woodworker and use to make all of these wonderful wood items for me. I learned a lot from him; however, I am adding to my "skill basket of learned how to do," I am subscribing to your UA-cam today so that I can use all of hubby's cool tools and safely build more yard art, lol! I did build a small dog bunk bed, a saw miter bench and the raised 2ft by 4ft tin garden box and a simple trellis. So, it's time for me to go and build a few more things for the garden! As I said earlier, fantastic video, thank you for putting it together to share. That's what we do here in Washington state. God bless!

I came here for trellis ideas as I currently do custom silhouettes, (big foot, giraffe, soldiers prayer etc.) As well as many other items. I thought different trellises would be a nice add on to my business. My comment here is for the nice added bonus I got from this video. That being said was the bucket tomato plants. I’ve had a hard time with my tomatoes and this will make a welcomed idea. Thanks for sharing.

Good info. And turning the tower upside down for attaching the cross braces on the underside is much easier and safer.

Totally enjoyed the creativity, great value ideas. I was intrigued with your table saw set up. Looks like maybe a Dewalt construction site saw but with a very cool sawdust collection system. I didn’t realize that was possible. I thought only big expensive saws could connect to those. Definitely need to research this more. I am getting a older table saw without the collection system and the thought of rolling it outside whenever I want to use it is not the most convenient.
Yeah, it’s just a DeWalt job site saw with a standard shop vac port. Plenty of adapters to scale up to bigger dust collection. I used a shop vac with a “dust deputy” separator for about four years and that worked great too.

This is great information. Like you said, it isn’t forever as wood outside with nails is… 🤷🏻♂️ Do you think a bit of glue would help or not so much?
Add a drop of wood glue to the joints, then nail them. Great stuff though, thanks for sharing.

Oh! I want to make 4 playhouse walls and a roof held together with hooks, like my grandpa made me! You can move it anywhere, but my dad built a slab and it stayed there in the yard! Any future videos in mind?

Hi, my table saw is stopping in the middle while doing rip cuts. It’s basically new and never used it. Do u think I’m doing anything wrong
For the units at ypur school, you mentioned using "pre-treated" cherry tone 2x2 material. The brown colour seems to indicate it is not the conventional construction grade pressure treathrd wood. (Good, because that stuff should not be used anywhere food is grown.) So could you give more information about that cherry tone pre-treated wood. Here on the East coast, I am not familiar with that kind of product, at least not from the "big box" stores. Is there more information about it to help me identify the product?
As far as I could tell, this is just stained pressure treated wood. When he was drilling in the pocket hole screw, the inside of the pocket hole was just a regular color wood. Also, unless you have treated wood from more than 10 years ago, there are no toxic chemicals used nowadays to treat wood. Building trellises or even raised beds with pressure treated wood is perfectly acceptable.
I need clarification on this part; I'm ripping up two by fours because to buy one inch boards is too expensive?
Yep. The cost of the thinner 1x material would be more expensive than what I can rip out of 2x4s. Prices definitely fluctuate, but at least where I’m at, when I made these, big savings this way.

The farmers don't need any trellis, they grow 💯 of vegetables on hundreds of acres no problem. You in your garden don't need them either.
As you said, farmers typically have hundreds of acres to use. (One acre is 43,560 square feet.)
A typical HOME garden has LESS than ONE acre. Going vertical is the way to get more yield out of each square foot.
farmers use trellis’ (though different kinds than what’s shown in this video)…. it would be a bad idea to waste square footage by letting things grow across the ground rather than up. It makes more money if you can fit more plants into a smaller area
