    Excellent project that achieves 2 purposes. One to make a great trellis and the other to clean up scrap pieces that will rot away. I will make a whole lot of trellis this spring.

    Very nice! Going to give this a try n use as a back drop for an above ground flower bed and as fence for the rest of my yard. Going to attempt a matching arbor with a gate and going to paint it all white. My plan is to paint all pieces, paint new rough edges then assemble.

    • @PhillWyattProjects

      I want to build an Arbor myself. Yea paint it before assembly I think it would be easier.

    Just took a large double palette apart,I had an idea on how to build it,then I run in to your video,I’m going to build it like you did,except instead of screws I’ll use 1.5” galvanized nails with a pneumatic nailer.Exellent video,thank you.👍

    I have an almost endless supply of pallets where I work and have just decided I'm going to make an L-shaped planter with trellis this weekend. I was going to make the planter and just buy the trellis purely for convenience and maybe a bit of laziness lol, but you've convinced me not to! This looks amazing!
    I must admit half way through I was thinking it looks a bit shoddy, but when you added those finishing touches and the treatment.. Looks loads better than store bought. Excellent video!

    You did well but i ve a question: How did you manage to take out the pallet wood so cleanly?

    • @PhillWyattProjects
      @PhillWyattProjects  7 місяців тому +1

      Thanks 👍🏻 I have a video about how to dismantle pallets on my channel. I use a tool called a pallet breaker which helps to pop off the slats.

    I saw you made some small mistakes:
    -When you cut wood on the tablesaw, measure it so the blade doesn't surpass the top of your wood.
    -when cutting the wood at the right length, let the saw spin to speed before cutting.
    these tips will lengthen the lifespan of your machine and blade!
    -when adding the finish, for the first layer you could make it thinner with ethanol,whitespirit or water (depends on the base of the finish) so it soaks in faster and deeper, but that's a matter of personal preferences
    overal, great job!

      Thank you very much! 👍 I just used standard wood screws for the trellis. Standard screws can actually last a long time outside and I have had no problem with using them outside. I'm glad you are finding the videos useful.🙂

  • @BigBoyDIY

    Not too bad. i would have split it apart to take it to your dads house and also i would have sprayed the stain on with a cheap 50 dollar sprayer. also personally i would have sanded or planed the top of the wood where you will see it just to make it look a little more professional

    • @PhillWyattProjects
      @PhillWyattProjects  Рік тому +1

      Cheers👍🏻 all good points. It did take too long with a brush although I don't have a sprayer. Might get one to do my fences.

    Can you do this on a bandsaw? Iooked for your saw but nnot in stock anymore 😢

    • @PhillWyattProjects
      @PhillWyattProjects  Рік тому +2

      I wouldn't recommend using a band saw as the wood is long and it would take a long time to do. There are many cheap table saws on the market at the moment. My current table saw is made by excel and only cost around £130. They sell cheap saws which can do this job.
