@@vbassoneJoe Pass? Beck was the best at what he did. Holdsworth was a genius, but they don’t play the same stuff. There are a bunch of jazz guys I could name that are better jazz players. Even John McLaughlin. Monster player, who never gets the credit he deserves. I hate definitive statements. Was Holdsworth better than Tommy Emmanuel? How do you compare them?
@@rickjason215 Yes Holdsworth was way BEYOND Tommy Emmanuel HARMONICALLY YESSS, and in terms of COMPLETELY REINVENTING THE ELECTRIC GUITAR. What part of that don't you get? Don't be diplomatic to a fault.. It isn't a matter of "definitive statements," it's a matter of certain rare individuals like a Holdsworth that COMPLETELY REINVENT an instrument physically in terms of how it is played, and conceptually; harmonically, melodically, sonically. What about Joe Pass??? He was INCREDIBLE! I love ALL types of music and MANY guitarists and musicians FROM ALL GENRES, but jazz is just a more complex and sophisticated HARMONIC language to deal with. I didn't say BETTER, I said more INVOLVED. Got it?
I saw him at Jones Beach in 2018. That marks 50 years since I first saw him with Rod Stewart at the Singer Bowl in Flushing , NY . I also saw Hendrix there ! He is absolutely one of the best I have seen in 50 years ! His style has evolved and the fact that he can pull this off LIVE is just incredible !!!!!
If you haven't seen jeff live go brilliant and great band brilliant player so much control of the whammy bar and volume control just great one off great musician master so creative even after all these years 👍
Completely unique approach.... Why I don't learn...'songs'...or ...solo's....note for note. Bores me. Get perfection in improv. No genius, anyway. (Me). But pulling off greatness in the spot...is most satisfying.
Jennifer Batten the technical player with no soul with the worlds greatest feel player just kills this when I watch it.Couldn`t he used a ditto or something...haha
If she had no soul, I don't think she would have shared as many stages with Jeff Beck as she did. He had no reason to keep anyone who couldn't hold their own on the payroll...
He never played it any better than this,Beck is still amazing.
He is the greatest guitar player in the last 45 years.
He sounds better now than 40 years ago which is incredible to consider because he was ALWAYS great!
Other than Allan Holdsworth and Kurt Rosenwinkel, yes.
