For those wondering, James and Mike fell out so James left. That's my understanding of it and it's probably a lot more complicated than that. I miss James's style so music, it really added to the techno/edm vibe that they had going, but Ethan, the new drummer, sounds awesome and I look forward to seeing what he brings in the future
Aw man, hopefully Ethan adds a different spice to the music
Saw them live a month or two ago and he shreds just as hard 👍
I thought he added some kind of tone and harmonics to his drumming which I hope he explores. Otherwise, the normal sounding drumming he uses about a third of the time feels out of place.
To me James did far more than offer a rhythm, every beat was complementary to the rest of the music. And just loved watching him. He seemed so into it. But what do I know, the only thing I can play is a stereo.
@@aaronb483 exactly. He held the groove so that the sax’s shone and he puts in subtle tasteful syncopation when needed (like when they’re breathing).
Miss James’ funky aura in the background.
Very good Anthony 👍
I like the fact they are ambisaxtrous
It’s not that hard….
Well I cant play any of them so I guess hard is subjective.
@@SofiaisSunshine yeah… it looks impressive but if you’re a brass player it’s like playing trumpet/cornet or trombone/euphonium. If you’re not a musician then it’s like writing in pen then using pencil :)
@@billynugget1256and yet I see very few players doing this… interesting. I guess I see some would see it as entertainment and others see it as a point to argue…
@@SofiaisSunshine it’s very big preference for a lot of players, like I can play alto and tenor but I’m a huge fan of bari and unless I’m like needed to play alto or tenor, I don’t think I’d ever will
getting sick of all the comments on Hooch's new stuff being focused on the fucking old drummer. grow up, kids. things change. just be glad the band is still together and creating INCREDIBLE sounding music, pushing the boundaries of their own style and the brasshouse genre at large. this shit sounds AMAZING and the new drummer is holding it down like a rock
Sure the talent is off the chart but without James the vibe is just lacking, 68 year old kid
Total eargasm
Damn! Keep it moving is so good. Wenzl really killed it.
It's awesome to see them live in newer vids, but I gotta say I miss seeing James in the background doing his stuff )))))):
Also hearing. He was just a bit spicier, but being a new drummer is of course something different than being in a band for 10 years. So let's see what the new drummer will add to the band in the future.
Is he actually a member of the band because they say that he’s there for touring so I’m kind of confused lol
Trop cool
4:20 Keep it Movin starts
damn if only it was one second sooner lol
This is BADASS!
dang, 4:50 is DIRTY. Getting some Goron City vibes.
Simply fantastic
Wow! This is better than cocaïne. You guys f*ck*ng rock thank you! 🙏
Это шедеврально!!!
ага!!!
Everyone misses James’ crackhead faces. They really added to the mood of the music
Hi Michael Rosen!
Even their dap was in-time
Thank you. Excellent fun
Congratulations
The best
Increíble , impresionante , únicos!
Ok that’s cool
God DAMNNN
These guys are so boss
Super dope! Love it
gah, so good!!
I’ve been trying to find the second song since I saw them last year
boi
It's called "Keep it Moving". They released it on their newest live album on Bandcamp moonhooch.bandcamp.com/album/live-in-nashville
Its good. Solid. Like the new backbone.
Edit....I really like the role reversal.
Bravo 👏
Anthony Have good day
I still love Moon Hooch, don't misunderstand this comment, but does it seem that this is a lot more smooth jazz than one would expect? It's a deviation from the acid sound, maybe i'm just not keeping with the musical trends.
Ya it's the drummer for sho no bueno
"maybe i'm just not keeping with the musical trends." yeah or maybe their personal evolution as a band has nothing to do with your expectations? they're clearly enjoying the new direction of their sound. it has nothing to do with trends. it's the music they feel like making, from their own soul. I think it's pretty awesome. so far I would say that Moon Hooch new stuff sounds better than Too Many Zooz new stuff, for instance.
The saxophonists have changed the side from legt to right and otherwise, but the instruments didn't. I compared to a previous video in this room.......
I thought that it was odd that they swapped roles for a sec
Pls come to México 2021
Why does wenzyl puff out his cheeks?
Its helpful when circular breathing
Ickbarr Bigelsteine but it seems like he does it every time he plays. Is he always circular breathing?
Kenny Riley he does while he’s circular breathing but he’s not always circular breathing. He’s done it for years, I asked him one time and it’s for him to achieve a different tone set and volume. If you’re in a classical setting it’s still proper to not as it will cause you to fall out of tune, in this setting its not as big of a deal as the sax sound is being processed anyway. They play for hours a day you kind of get to just do your own techniques for a whatever suits you at that point to be honest. :)
Christian Edward Adams I’m a sax player and I always thought puffing your cheeks was a big no-no for the reasons you stated, but also your answer makes sense. So for most people it’s probably a bad idea, but this guy is clearly some type of expert and has probably just played for so many thousands of hours that he’s developed his own style or at least a specific style for playing with this band.
@@RdCrestdBreegull, the main reason why circular breathing's a bad idea is because it affects articulation. But I don't see why it can't be used as a special effect. Puffing cheeks is more of a no-no for trumpet players, as far as I'm aware. On the saxophone, it affects the size of the oral cavity, but there's plenty of ways to "fix" it.
i'm pretty sure i make up 100 of the views on this video.
That's not really how view count works. If you're logged in, you can only contribute one view per video. If you're not logged in, it's one view per discernable device.
@@delucain look up the definition of a joke, and also exaggeration too
Interesting
Is James officially out?
Yeah :/
Yup. He and Mike had a falling out.
Музыка отличная, но звук опережает видео на пол доли
That drummer is good but I'm not gonna lie, I'm very sad that James left the band...kind of takes away from the whole Moon Hooch vibe.
I was gonna say! I was thinking, "wait! that's not James!"
hello
@@wewewewewewewew2076 Hi friend.
"kind of takes away from the whole Moon Hooch vibe" no it fucking doesn't lol... the band sounds as good now as they ever did. their new music is fire and the new drummer holds it down. grow up. move on.
@@lazylion420 while that is true, James’s crack head look and sound was very much a part of the vibe and feel of moon hooch. They sound cool, but visually it’s a totally substandard performance
This would be great, to do this instead.
To be told this is ,.. better
wait?? what happened to james
He had a pretty bad falling out with Mike apparently.
Love these guys, but this version the Baritone is overpowering the tenor and drums.
The bass isn’t as loud in the recording
Moon hooch is simply moon without James. You Know it guys.... Everyone knows it.
Some cool heavy guitar power chords in the background would fill you guys up and set you guys off!!
Open chords 🙌
One of the reasons why I listen to this band is because they have no guitars.
@@Chronic.Pivoter That's cool! No worries, we all like what we like and that's the way it ought to be!!
it might sound cool but it would also totally ruin the Moon Hooch vibe. this is brass house. this is not jazz fusion.
Bring back James. Too bad Mike is a jerk. Was even a jerk to me the two times I met him.
the new drummer is BORING
