i was there. this exact same set. somebody asked me how it was and i had to reply: "sometimes, life reminds you that there's still beauty in this world". this is exactly that, an exploration of beauty enrooted in tradition, aiming an arrow to infinity. thank you thank you!
@@billwilkie6211 If you mean money he's invested well and bought property in Montecito. Along with Hope Ranch one of the two most expensive areas in Santa Barbara County! and that ain't hay.
SACRED SOUL SUBLIME SONICS. TESTAMENT OF EVANESCENT + ETERNAL BEAUTY = CHARLES. Charles, you call/ whisper OUT the luminous divinity + celestial GRACE from the musicians. We, the listeners, are drunk/ astonished on what you create and offer: the SACRED SUBLIME! ALWAYS the sacred sublime. Thank YOU, Charles, always and ALL ways THANK YOU! xoxo Catherine
this brings to mind Lloyd's days with Hungarian jazz guitarist Gabor Szabo- the 60's. The compositions are the same, of course, and the playing is great all around here. That steel guitar kills.
Wow. Bill Frisell's playing is always so spot on. I saw him at the Village Vanguard last August and was blown away. I really hope to see him again one day. Thanks for posting.
I don't know how can I really thank for sharing that because it's absolutely beautiful. Great energy, great feelings and great human beings. From France.
An ensemble of music giants. Don't get much better than that. Totally worth the time, speaking for myself. Nice to see Charles Lloyd having fun back there. Only my 5th time seeing and listening to this.
I saw this line up (the classic Marvels) with Julian Lage and Zakir Hussain added!!!! Yes, it was as amazing as you could imagine. I am searching and searching to buy these live dates on CD or MP3. Does anyone know where to get them?
People who comment should make it from a position of humility instead of approval, it is arrogance, pure and clumsy to pretend you should give good marks to the artist when you are the audience. A compliment is so when it is simple.
Amazing concert! A real pleasure to hear! Thank you so much for posting! Does anyone know the name of the "song" of minute 47:00? Have a nice day! From Chile...
A lot of very cool variety here - but I didn't feel they really brought it all together - of course that would also be quite a challenge with so many divergent tones, instruments and styles. I clicked to see what Bill Frisell was doing and liked the tone and style emanating from his 335. The percussion seemed to be laying down a slightly different rhythm than the instrumentalists. I don't know, what does everyone else think?
I've seen almost every local (Lobero Theatre- Santa Barbara) Charles Lloyd show since the mid 80's (He'd carry Michel Petrucciani out to the Lobero's grand piano) before the group started. I also saw Frisell there a few times. I think some musicians blend better than others with Charles. At his 80th birthday party a few years ago he brought his roots- Booker T (no MGs)from his birthplace in Memphis. After seeing him approximately 30 times I'd say all musicians are good, but some are better than others.
Thanks for making this concert available

I concur my friend
beautiful
Shut up 😂.
😴aiming an arrow...😴
The Marvels: Bill Frisell on guitar, Greg Leisz on pedal steel guitar, Reuben Rogers on bass and Eric Harland on drums
So so SO GOOD! This is ‘genuine jazz’ played by a true master, Charles Lloyd
a treat listening to bill play with this rhythm section (Eric Harland, Reuben Rogers) lead by Charles and his wonderful compositions
Besides the incredible music and Charles's virtuosity, he is a truly wonderful, spiritual person.
And loaded I'm told
Yes indeed!!!!

Man! That's a dream concert! 4 masters supporting and feeding the gentle Guru! I'm in Heaven!
And the ever wonderful Greg Leisz too ....beautiful, beautiful, beautiful music.
Ohhhh! This is ‘Supreme Jazz’! So refreshing.

Great stuff ... Lloyd said he'd wanted to work with a steel guitar for decades and it finally happened
this brings to mind Lloyd's days with Hungarian jazz guitarist Gabor Szabo- the 60's. The compositions are the same, of course, and the playing is great all around here. That steel guitar kills.
Ladies and gentlemen... Another example of musical beauty!😁

Ta koncert je čudovito presenečenje, ki dokazuje, da je glasba hrana za pozitivne misli in magične občutke. Hvala!
This is what joy sounds like.
Transcendant! Listening to this as my Cuban food is cooking...that aroma and this music...delicious!
Bill Frissel's comping in the background - behind Charles Llyod - on the Jazz guitar is just fantastic! He does replace the piano very competently.
Bills comping is always so good! Only playing what’s necessary
And how many pianists can comp with the taste and space of Bill Frisell… (?) (>.>.>. or the great Jim Hall (RIP). )
so so goooooood love the crowd feelin' it! got me dancing here
SUBLIME! Such a pleasure to listen to masters of their arts who have such passion and confidence!
The music, the sound - in perfect harmony.
2021 and this is beautiful
You just gotta love it when Charles Lloyd grabs the shakers and dances around to the music
Very atmospheric, imaginative and incredibly delicate music playing. Amazing richness of sound.
Still listening and loving!
Listening to these masters is like to be in heaven.
Superb! Many thanks for sharing.
Frisell-Leisz, un binôme magique, comme un nouvel instrument à 16 cordes...
What a piece............Wonderful!
Wow....this is so great!!!!
The band killin’ and the music is amazing!

Fantastic synergy between these guys! And all so (apparently) effortless. Love it!!!

@@walterfoerderer4175 Thank you!!!
What was the song name?!? I’m so curious. It had such a beautiful melody
that stinky little fender bass really is the center of the universe...........signed Buddha.
what song 17:45 - 24:40?
damn, Eric!
Eric Harland deserves a special mention.
💯 he is so talented. I would like to see a duo of Eric Harland with Kendrick Scott. Just drumming.

Not sure what you're talking about. And Bill isn't playing a 335.

Both guitarists remind me of Gabor Szabo.
