I do this everyday. Also, this is a (Day Cab) in a (14 wheeler) parking in sighted side. Though it is cool to watch other drivers. lets you know who is experienced and who is not.
Whether he's using a single axle day cab or a dual axle cab w/sleeper, the concept is still the same---when backing, you're driving the trailer, not so much the truck. And this driver did a damn fine job!
As a truckdriver I call this manauver 'the Fedex' specifically in honour of this driver. After seeing this a few years ago I decided to perfect this technique. Once you've done this two or three times a day every day for a bit it gets incredibly easy. It just takes endless repitition. Thats why it looks so effortless, because for this driver and now myself it is easy. Hey people, never put anything in the 'too hard basket'. I certainly don't anymore.
Yea in currently getting my CDL. Learning in a 56 footer. I never thought i would be able to drive a truck. Im just learning the parts and how to do the inspection. I should have my license. Then it's off to being a yard jockey to get good at it. I can't wait to learn on a job once i have my full-fledged CDL Class A license.
In the 70's and 80's I worked as a truck mechanic. I never had to back up a truck in an area that restricted. But I remember the first time I backed a tractor-trailer rig into the shop I got it through the door and perfectly centered in the bay. It was the door next to the door I was wanting to put it through but you take what you can get. Easier to move your equipment and tools a few feet than be picky.
FedEx...: "what UPS?" Intersting part is...the small van went into the wider garage opening while the 18 wheeler has to go through the smaller, tighter garage opening.
That ain't shit. You should see some of the docks we gotta get into in Chicago. Blind side angle backing a sleeper cab across two lanes of dead stop traffic while hopping curbs.
With the sun in your eyes too, right? Even at 3AM, uphill in both directions and taking sniper fire while fending off bears and wolves while your truck is on fire......... Did I miss anything?
I'm a new driver and I drive long distances. I know how hard these garage parkings are (for new drivers at least). Hope I get as skilled as this guy so I can also one day drive local
It is Great skills ,Believe it or not a Majority of experienced truckers make that same maneuver on a daily basis and are excellent drivers, than there are the idiots who cant back up to a 20 door building thats empty of any other trucks and the driver is given the choice of whatever door they want to use, i used to see that all the time and like everyone else cringe at the thought that that same person is loose on our highways with an 80,000 lb truck , there is a real shortage of good qualified drivers on the roads , i left because the federal governments rules and guide lines became so redicilious that it was impossible to get through a day without being in violation of one and it made it impossible as an OTR driver to make enough money to be worth the separation from my family, best thing I ever did was leave Trucking, As much as I love driving them, I don't miss the constant migraines .
The hardest part about garage parking is when the trailer is inside and the cab is still outside, you can't see the trailer's surroundings at all. You can't see the walls, posts, or anything else that might be in the way.
My thoughts exactly! I shunted for around 9 months years back and eventually I could tuck into slots not much wider than my trailer but….I hated those types of docks! Throw in a bright sunny day and, well you know what I mean!

not really impressive, in fact, this is quite easy to pull off because you can use the building wall as a guide. I agree tho, that for someone who doesn't drive a truck, this can be quite entertaining. he did get it right the first time, props for that!
+Filip Ocicek i dont think he did, he probably took his time lining it up. If he did get it the first time do u think someone would have enough time to shoot the video off his roof from the very start? you might aswell be right but i have my doubts
+Robert .G You are more than welcome to accompany on my shift at any time, i do a minimum of 10 back ups a day, at least one of those is in a spot that would make you shit your pants just looking at it. not really sure why you got offended with my comment, I'm simply stating the fact that this isnt as impressive as it might seem to someone who isnt a (experienced) truck driver.
That's because we have to back up several times a day to different spots. When you back like this several times a day, it becomes second nature. I er the road drivers back up maybe 2-4 times a week (Yes I did I er the road as well). One of my stops now is a blind side around a corner. Absolutely NO VISIBILITY. I now make that particular back based on reflexes. Say what you will about FedEx drivers on the highways, but we know what we're doing in reverse, lol. 🤣
Lol are you kidding? A 53' trailer driver side back into a stall with no traffic around??? I WISH my everyday backing was this fuckin easy !!! Try food service backing 43, 48 and the 28's that move all over the place in convenient store parking lots 8-12 times a day in SAN FRANCISCO

Looks harder than it is ... He's just an experienced driver And he is doing this on the side that he sits, so he doesn't even use his rear view mirrors, only sticks his head out of his cab and sees plenty Trying it from the other side would be harder because you can only use your mirrors
Oh my *God* I hate those docks. Driving a truck, docking from bright daylight to barely lit dock is basically backing into the abyss. You're completely blind to what's inside the docking area until your side mirrors are under the building's shadow. Rails, ramps, posts, yellow lines - All gone in that abyss. The shorter the wheelbase of the truck the better, it makes docking *a lot* easier, but kudos to the driver for nailing it in one go without 85 pull-ups and traffic trying to squeeze around.
+CVTaxi Ive owned more Ford than Dodge, 4 Crown Victorias included (Im guessing thats what your name is abbreviating) . Its hit or miss, some were lemons some were grapefruits.
Pretty good for sure, but that's only a single axle tractor, very short, I've watched my Dad do the same thing with a 53' trailer behind a W900 tandem with drop axle that had an aerodyne sleeper on it, about 2 of that truck in total, now that's impressive, but very good job to this driver none-the-less, that was a smooth and slick entry, thumbs up!
That garage took it like a champion.
lmfao
😂
thats pretty impressive
the truck driver didnt do too badly either
I do this everyday. Also, this is a (Day Cab) in a (14 wheeler) parking in sighted side.
Though it is cool to watch other drivers. lets you know who is experienced and who is not.
the city tractor made a lot of difference, don't think he would have had the same luck in a sleeper
@@FirebirdCamaro1220 "Luck" had nothing to do with it.

that's easy because of the day cab and I could do that.
Somebody get that building a cigarette!
🚬😵
🚬🏢
😂 😂 😂
50% of drivers on much smaller cars cannot do it properly
And with a backing camera
flykeys facts
Hahah😅😂
it's probably a everyday spot. used to it. still very good job.

Former FedEx Freight driver here, Don't know where this is, but that was my daily routine delivering in Brooklyn with a 48' van. 😳

The really amazing thing is that Fedex still had a pre-1992 Econoline in their fleet as late as 2014!
@cgwworldministries No lol
I kust noticed that. That thing is a classic now.
Fedex should use this clip for tv commercial
cejan p yes your right
I'm surprised that old FedEx Econoline van is still in operation.

do you even know how to count that's not an 18 wheeler lol its 14 wheels 😂
Jesus Bautista
your wrong too , its actually a 16 wheeler when you count the 5th wheel and the steering wheel.
Likely a ramp to an upper level, imo. I see the van bounce up a bit, as if it meets an incline.
hot
It's amazing how many armchair experts there are on here......
....and apparently, you too!!!
Awesome!
real action starts in 0:29, when the truck stops blocking and he is free to move
Hahahahaa

Excuse my dirty mind.

Daniel goose right a nice empty slow street with a day cab...

@@craniostomy Absolutely! His was almost out of hours with barely any Reefer fuel.

and then they start throwing packages

Good driver!! Perfect 90 degree backing, nothing hit, no pull ups, even. No wonder Swift didn't hire him. Lol. Hope FedEx treats him well.
100% Skillzzz

Thats as clean as it gets. 10/10
That's a bad individual under the wheel of that truck! Bad!!!
big deal....I could do it with a spotter!
Try it with a 53 foot spread axle, no dump valve and with a Freightliner Classic XL, then we will talk...
Alabaster exactly
Driver did good
He could probably do a better job than you can
Pretty impressive….how the car drove into the garage on the right 😀

Haters will say it’s played in reverse
Give that driver a raise!
Actually a 40’ truck is simple to back in compared to one half the size, or with a short trailer. Long trucks are simple in reverse.

Wow, great skill.
Tell burner we stopped by lmao
I hate indoor backing almost as much as backing underground.
That’s what real truck drivers can do. Not these jokers run up and down the highway cutting people off.
You should've seen some of the backs I had to do in Chicago... with a sleeper.
it's common for a truck driver
Lmfao that 1987 Econoline 250 out there 😂
Wow! should this person be training swift drivers, or what!
Why I invest in fedex
Most people can't even reverse their car into that garage.
That’s not a FedEx truck that is a FedEx tractor trailer
Hi There, I am with a company called Transoft Solutions, we would like to know if we can use this video for marketing purpose. Please contact us. Thank you.
wont do that on long wheel nose truck old peterbilt
Cardi B has made me see this video in a completely different light
shit that is easy with a two axle tractor'the problem would be with a three axle
어케했노 ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ
Day cab, not even blindside, piece of cake!
and then theres people that couldnt back a car in there with a spotter lol.
I’m glad they do it so I don’t have to😂
I just did a dock like this. Damn
Tuco's line from Breaking Bad comes to mind... "Tight, tight, tight!"
Packages inside trailer still destroyed
tandems close short nose daycab not hard.
Swift would have done it better 🤣
Have always admired truckers skill. FANTASTIC
behold the master
That's what you learn as a junior truckdriver......it's a basicskill....! Good job anyway,driver...!
Love tricking my dog😂
In a sleeper it be amazing! That's a day cab? Park those in my sleep.
That's a day cab. I'll park that in your moms virgina!
fuck physics, i got the truck
That's everyday for us Aldi drivers. Awkward as hell. Looks like that guy got it in without a shunt. Nice job.

I wanna buy that guy american truck simulator because for the life of me I cannot park those damn trailers backwards anymore.
That's a 14-wheeler.
+jospi2 - ya...., 14 wheeler in a day cab, parking sighted side (yawns)
Whatever they're paying that guy it's probably not enough.
Good thing it's a day cab, easier to maneuver. Props to him that backing is still quite difficult.
Is that an 80's Ford Econoline? wow still in use

tbh this isn't shit, day cab. from the sighted side in the day time.... sorry 4/10
he used the parking sensors?
if not - he is "falcon-eye-man".

Anything is possible when you have a day cab and a single axle.
If you're wondering whether you're going to Heaven or Hell, you'll know full well after listening to this message from a Spirit filled man. powerful!
With that single axle tractor it ain’t that hard to do honestly
At frito lays we drive 57 to 59 footer then Let's talk
Pulling Doubles on 43rd st is a trip
Who was waiting for the van to side-swipe the piling on the way in? :-D
Park the truck and we take of running , hurry up girl I hear it coming
Awesome!!
I love that they still use those old Eco vans. :)
Wow.
well,, if its your job and you do it often of course.
Single axle... hit it on the first!!!
all professional truckers can do it
