played a B side Metallica on a flat one years in the 1990's The Prince oh parents were pi**ed. had to go downstairs and headbang. very embarassing when caught :lol
This is the 1980 "Disco", designed to compete with Seeburg's SMC-1 from a year previous. An interesting note about the R series 45 RPM AMi machines is that the model number is actually 4 years after the year it was produced FOR. So an R-84 is a 1980 machine, even though it was manufactured in 1979. The model number reflected the expiration of the warranty. Even though it was the 1980 model year, it was actually introduced in 1979 making it a 5 year warranty.
Wow that’s slightly confusing about the dates and how they’re back dating them rather forward dating them for expiration of the warranty. Does that mean the milk in my refrigerator might still be good? It says it expires in 2021… Ouch.
One of the most amusing videos I’ve seen in a long time here on UA-cam! I actually stumbled in here by mistake, I was researching Scopitone jukeboxes and magnetic 16mm movie projectors, not sure how I fell down this particular rabbit hole… But sure glad I did! Thanks for the explanation about the jukebox. I’m looking for one of these Rogue jukeboxes especially one where the exterior is not good cosmetically. I’m going to be doing a re-design on it so maybe you have such a beast in your warehouse? Thanks, Hunter…founder Highway Cinema
I'm also looking into a juke and I've set my sights on one of the Rowe/AMI's R84 or newer. I can rebuild the amp and computer myself and there's lots of videos on the mech. I once had a Seeburg and couldn't make any sense of it. I'm not that mechanical. I'd LOVE to find an RB8 (1015 clone) with visible mech. If not, I'll get one and install a camera in it so I can watch the mech on a tv screen 😄
+dvddmc we used the same lithium battery cell since 1999 up until this January...and we have now permanently switched over to the round lithium cell available anywhere in the world for ALL games!
I have a Rockola from 1964. I fixed it (thought I did) but sometimes the sound will go up and down, occasional pop and static as well. I read I should check the speaker output connection. I was also thinking about recapping it. Any thoughts?
Todd, my R-84 Disco wheel is not stopping on a dime to center up with my records. It has just a little give left and right of the record. Where can I adjust this? Do I have a part that is worn? Also could I send in my Mech board in to get cleaned up?
Hi! Sounds like maybe a gear inside is worn? Not sure...we do not do any more outside repairs...I cannot keep up with our own games now. Maybe one of these Jukebox forums can help? Todd
Does anyone know if it's possible to replace the turntable with one that can play both sizes of 45s? I have a bunch of small hole singles that I'd like to put on my R-86 but I really don't want to mess around with a dinker.
Well,...I HAD an R-81 from 1977 on my list,.....cross that one off and replace it with an R-84! If you get any one of the four machines in,...R-84,R-86,R-90,and R-91,.....I'll take any one of the four machines.
at the 4 second mark on the video, that is a rockola turntable and tone arm. Seeburg plays the records vertically and doesn;t make a pretty picture....so the opening titles are a combination of Seeburg and Rockola!
Ouch I can see how you cracked your coconut on a jukebox now, in fact it looks like you got lucky with the injury you got as it looks like it could have been far worse.
Wait, no! you cannot put a Frankie Yankovic columbia 45 with a small hole onto this jukebox. It will not fit. I have two of them and they are highly collectible!
DUST the Moto GP come on :P maybe as a joke one little corner (hey anybody get your finger out. put it on the screen WASH ME. ) like one does on dirty cars :D
TNT Amusements Inc which is what my brothers hands looked like after learning how to put a new starter in my car. running great now. O_O well it used to be his..
BONK ahem hard hat I hope before I start watching this. go 45's :) someone said they made a Cassette Jukebox once. O_O oh that would never work. 8track maybe but cassette tape sucked.
These jukebox designs is a bit failure when it comes to design and safety. Why have a lift up way and face those teeth in head which is deadlyl. They should be open left to right instead thus eliminating the risk. not much more space eater i think. just like open the fridge. almost like putting head inside a shark haha
Man I haven't seen a 45 jukebox in ages. Brings back memories

Riz2336 I have one in my game room also!

Yes...I learned that recently...and a goal is to edit these videos slightly to reflect the date
@@tntamusements Wanted to tell you also that I really love your videos, I'd like to visit you sometime and say hello. Thanks for your posts!

I also noticed that these newer machines from 1980 on up do not slap the record down on the turntable as hard as the older models!
Hi mate I have a R-84 Base speaker dose a lot of humming
Hey Todd the lithium battery replacement that you talk about is it the same as what you have to do with the pinball machines is it the same repair?
+dvddmc we used the same lithium battery cell since 1999 up until this January...and we have now permanently switched over to the round lithium cell available anywhere in the world for ALL games!
AGREE
anyway to stop jukebox swirl my 1963 ami rowe tropicana is leaving swirl marks on my records is there a fix for this???
I have a Rockola from 1964. I fixed it (thought I did) but sometimes the sound will go up and down, occasional pop and static as well. I read I should check the speaker output connection. I was also thinking about recapping it. Any thoughts?
+bumblethebee20 that's a good place to start!
Hey Todd, what are those plastic things that you snap on the air pistons to hold the door open? I have an r89 where the door doesnt stay open....
Michael Rosenfeld you can order them from HAPP CONTROLS...they have them in stock...just got ten more from them!!!
Can you do a video showing how the tone arm cam and tone arm work on a Rowe R-84 and how to repair it????
Rioj8028 Probably cannot do one until after the Pinball Expo.
The juke box that Fonzie hit with his fist was a rockola
rarecoolitems yes, that's correct!

Happy Days Juke Box was a seeburg.
rarecoolitems no...it was a rockola...

Lovely machine! Also, do you still have the blue Rowe R-93 Combo Star?
Averythefanman yes...still one left!
This is a good reference for Rowe AMI jukeboxes:

yep don that hard hat before you open that lid Todd.
Great idea!
lets fell it up with 80s music singles no 45 rpm singles in the jukebox and it will work
DONE!
Lets fell a jukebox with 45rpm singles of the 80s music
Many people do!
Ouch I can see how you cracked your coconut on a jukebox now, in fact it looks like you got lucky with the injury you got as it looks like it could have been far worse.
enigma776 A BIG Ouch!!
Need to remove deadly tobacco drug use from the video. Ugh.
Wait, no! you cannot put a Frankie Yankovic columbia 45 with a small hole onto this jukebox. It will not fit. I have two of them and they are highly collectible!
Nicholas Serio If you bust out the little hole to make it a big hole, it will fit! :-)

Lee Bartholomew Our games always get a final wipe down...with my greasy hands all over it now, it HAS to get recleaned! :-)

Lee Bartholomew There was a video tape jukebox that played videos and also records in the 80's
TNT Amusements Inc
