Taking care of your skin, nails, eyebrows, haircut and perfecting the "no makeup" makeup look can make a difference. Please consider making a video about weekly maintenance/care. 👍😊 Also, taking care of our shoes/handbag (cleaning, repairing) is important.
A new tip I found is using bonding powder to fix threadbare spots in wool.I just bought a gorgeous 60s camel coat from Poshmark that has a tiny threadbare spot and the fabric bonding powder worked. You shave off some pills, cut them up finely, roll into a ball, iron, done and done!
All hail the FIT! I have to alter the length of all my long sleeves, and often take my pieces to have princess seams added to follow my curves, which are very pronounced...it's an added expense, but the difference is incredible.
I agree with this. I wear scrubs to work bc I have to but after work I've changed some habits. If I didnt have anywhere to go I used to just continue to wear the scrubs after work. Now I change right away into something I love no matter if I'm just picking up my son from school.
Hi Alyssa! This subject is so interesting that I must add a few things that I think are very important: shoes must be clean, fixed and in good shape; bags: the material and color must be in good shape too. Nails: should be not so long and at least, with nail polish. Hair: I agree with you. I add: no roots, a haircut and a healthy hair. Kisses from Buenos Aires!! (I'm watching all your videos to be updated)
Yes....well groomed and polished is always a way to look elegant. Columns of one color in a long silhouette does have an elegant look. I like framing it with sweeping lines of silk...which can have a small pattern. Hair....it is an issue at times....but nothing like a beautifully made fedora or other hat to elevate (literally makes you look taller) to get that long, fluid line of pure elegance
I love this advice. As someone who has been wearing clothes for 60+ years, I have a good idea of what suits me. One thing, neutrals on me, if that has to mean beige in all forms, will never happen! Colour means personality and that does not have to equate to trashy. Something that lacks, is wearing a slip to stop clinging clothes. Why does nobody do that anymore?
Thank you. I really enjoy your approach. I have so many beautiful things but I find myself constantly shopping for things. But you remind me and show examples of how I can fall back in love with what I already have. Thanks!
Alyssa Because of you I look at clothes totally different. Trendy is not even in my vocabulary. I am slowly getting rid of items that don't make me happy. I always shop at Thrift Shops. I donate everything to Goodwill. It just makes since!!!
Hey, i really enjoy your videos and just wanted to add something that crossed my mind while watching. I gave birth a year ago and am still fighting to get my belly back where it was before :) recently I have finally bought a piece of quite comfy shapeware and it's had a profound effect on how I look and feel in my clothes... Now I wear my clothes with much more confidence and ease which I think is the main reason why we perceive someone to look rich... So, i just wanted to include that tip to the list :) keep up the great videos :*
Have you done a ‘body types’ video or something where you point out iconic looks & the body types that frequently pull them off well? I am getting ready to scale back my wardrobe & would like to do a better job of dressing my ample apple body type. Any resources you could point me towards would be helpful. ( Like a boyish figure looks great in that straight 60s inspired suit, or an hourglass + DVF style wrap dress is heaven)
My short: 1. Shifting your mindset that you need a lot of clothes 2. Fit - also adjusting a bought piece 3. Wrinkle free - steaming, ironing 4. Neutrals - find own lighter ones, classic prints 5. Structure - clean cut blazer, trousers 6. Styling - what you already having, accessories 7. Personal touch - sth own 8. Good hair 9. Smile :) My adds: 1. Matched colors - Knowing own color palette 2. Cared nails 3. Leather things - bags, shoes 4. Cared basic pieces
There are a few videos with a similar title that I’ve watched but this video provides tips that I can actually implement!! So many of your tips have been amazingly easy and little by little my wardrobe is coming together and I’m loving how I look. ❤️
The information I've found on your channel has helped me curate my sustainable closet. Thank you! I wish A-list celebrities, like the Kardashians, would promote re-wearing or re-working the clothes they already have in their closets. It would set an excellent example for many people.
I really love the addition of gratitude and confidence. You are so inspiring! Thank you for the beautiful example you set in both your content and your presentation!
Self confidence is everything! You can have on an outfit from the least expensive store, but if you know how to put yourself together, and walk with your head held high... 😍
Thanks for the thoughtful Sunday video to go with morning coffee! I look forward to your autumn trends. Love the gold accessories. Hair - something to aspire to. Thx Alyssa!❤👜
Def fit and comfortable over everything! I think we all made that mistake when we were young. Taking care of your body, nails and hair is my first priority! Even just brushing your hair and trow it in a bun, big sunglasses and some jewelry and you’re good to go! I love your style and personal touch! 🥰
Great tips! One thing I don't do that I"m sure would help is taking care of my nails. I distract away from them using other parts of my outfit, earrings, hair, etc ('cause I just don't want to bother with my fingernails), but I do know that your hands can make a big difference in an overall impression. Oh, and having good quality, clean shoes that aren't scuffed up.
christina manucy I don’t like to spend time on my nails either, but a quick way to maintain your nails is to file them, I keep them short, push back your cuticles and then put on clear or a sheer nail polish. I like mademoiselle by Essie. It goes on smoothly without any streaks and chips aren’t noticeable and it looks great with any skin tone. 😊
I absolutely love the top you have on! I had one almost identical back in the '90s, and, before that, a dress in the late '70s, with the same neck and sleeve shape and details. Classically beautiful! These are excellent tips. Thank you!
The one thing that has helped me feel more confident in my clothing is losing weight ha ha. It seems anything looks good when you’re thin I’ll tell you’re thin. And then you find out you really have particular preferences. The ketogenic diet has really helped in following this slow fashion style
Beautiful video! I would love to actually hear more about how to take care of clothes. Whether it’s keeping whites white, is there anything you can do with blacks losing their pop and maybe recycling or repurposing items
Alyssa, your first tip about having gratitude is so true...I love that you included that as a way to look expensive! Thanks for sharing such excellent tips that I can put to use in my everyday life.
I didn’t wear makeup during lockdown so I had lots of time to improve my skincare. Now I don’t need as much make up. Same with going grey and getting a good haircut- less fuss.
Tailoring even the most inexpensive shirt or pant will make me want to wear it more and keep it longer. This saves me money and decreases eventual land fill. I have almost no hair so I wear wigs. I feel that I look younger and well groomed. It's faster than styling my hair. I always want to look my best in case I run into an old flame. Her hee. 😉
Love your videos. It's inspired me to shop my own wardrobe. That said, I'm heading to Ottawa on holiday in Sept. Where would you recommend I could find some re-loved / vintage or sustainable shopping options? Any tips would be great.
hi Alyssa thanks so much for those tips. Its great to be reminded. I will look into the shoptagr and use it. I love TheRealReal and bought so many items from there. However, the shipping to Australia is prohibitive. Do you know of any other vintage and preloved websites that offer cheaper shipping? Or can you lobby TheRealReal to offer a cheaper, slower shipping service? I have contacted them but they haven't replied to me.
What do you eat? Like how can you stay the same in every single video. For months I have been following your posts.. Great ideas btw. Thank you..please do videos for people of different shapes..
Alyssa is a runner. You can tell by her legs. :-). And by the way, her mom looks the same way. It's in the genes. She did a video on dressing an older woman (her mom) so she might do one on dressing diferent shapes.
I Love your styling tips Alyssa, Plus I love the top your wearing, we don’t have that app here in Australia 🇦🇺 as far as I know....Have a Great Week from Nellie Down Under 🇦🇺💖💖💖💖
There! That jacket at 8:19 bottom right is a Cheetah print. Dots, not rings. (Rings are leopard) Just mentioning cuz previous vid of yours you were saying you thought your coat might be Cheetah print. (It's leopard.) Thanks for another great vid!
What is with youtubers and using those awful wire hangers. I hope it is just something extra you just do for aesthetics (though I don't know how having extra hangers for filming fits with the minimalist philosophy. That's just so extra).
Taking care of your skin, nails, eyebrows, haircut and perfecting the "no makeup" makeup look can make a difference. Please consider making a video about weekly maintenance/care. 👍😊 Also, taking care of our shoes/handbag (cleaning, repairing) is important.
Great tips, thank you.
I second this suggestion! Would make really helpful videos.
Healthy eating is also important, it does make a big difference.
Taking care of what you have not only saves on replacement costs, it shows respect for your investment and respect for yourself. Great comment Edna.
Great ideas 💡

Katherine Margeson this is amazing! Looking it up on amazon now!
What stores sell that? Maybe Fabricvile or Michaels?
Smell nice, no chipped nailpolish and clean shoes.
All hail the FIT! I have to alter the length of all my long sleeves, and often take my pieces to have princess seams added to follow my curves, which are very pronounced...it's an added expense, but the difference is incredible.
Always dress as if you’re going somewhere better!
yes , wonderful advice !

I love this idea!
Loved and agree with all these tips. I would add a great smelling fragrance and a good posture. No slouching! Walk like you are proud of your body

Hair, nails and your smile make a huge difference but in the end the biggest tell-tale signs are your manners and speech.

Good posture and looking up conveys confidence in how you present yourself to others.

What shapewear brand can you recommend? A fellow mummy will be grateful. 😆

Love that blouse you are wearing! And glad that you added the part about gratitude!
Attitude comes from within thats works for me!

Alyssa, Can you recommend a brand or model for a clothes steamer? Thanks.
I love the last point: SMILE! how many times have I seen well put women with sad faces. I do not wear a lot of makeup but I always wear a smile ;)
Yes! 😁
Self confidence is everything! You can have on an outfit from the least expensive store, but if you know how to put yourself together, and walk with your head held high... 😍

Love the Tank watch - definitely elevating ❤️❤️
Looking expensive does not necessarily mean classy. Perhaps we should discuss this idea? 🙏🏽❤️
Sandy Santigo agree!
Well spoken!
yeah but let's face it classy style will always appear as more expensive and put together 🙌🏾 take Kate or even Meghan now as examples ... see ?

Clean shoes, and the French approach to take off one thing before you leave, oh and always check the mirror front AND back before heading out

Beautiful video! I would love to actually hear more about how to take care of clothes. Whether it’s keeping whites white, is there anything you can do with blacks losing their pop and maybe recycling or repurposing items
Very late reply from me but black dylon machine dye (careful with delicate materials).
Love the sunnies at 11:24!

Alyssa, you looked polished and chic in this video! Great topic and nicely done video.
Great tips! You are so charming (and beautiful)☺️
I always feel expensive when things fit perfectly. Tailoring is key
Hi Alyssa, I love your channel so much 😃😃. Waching and hearing your films help mi to resist shopping😋

That blouse...😍
That blouse you're wearing is very beautiful, and it's perfect on you.

Love your videos. It's inspired me to shop my own wardrobe. That said, I'm heading to Ottawa on holiday in Sept. Where would you recommend I could find some re-loved / vintage or sustainable shopping options? Any tips would be great.
yes! great idea. I loved Ottawa in September!
Bad breath will mess up everything
hi Alyssa
thanks so much for those tips.
Love these videos. I wore my first simple black cloth belt as a choker. You give me tons of great ideas. Thx A!
I always enjoy your videos, very informative !
What material are you T-shirts? They hang so nicely 😊
Great video, thank you! What steamer would you recommend? A travel friendly one maybe? thanks! x
May I know what brand of steamer do you use? Thanks!
You might want to investigate the shoptgr app more thoroughly... find out what they do with all the proprietary browsing history they obtain.
I love your vidéos and the values you convey.
I Wish that Mariane Lecoeur watched this video.
My hands and nails must look always good. If not! I don’t feel polished 😬
Ah yes, so important! xx
Brava! Love the video!
What do you eat? Like how can you stay the same in every single video. For months I have been following your posts..

Alyssa is a runner. You can tell by her legs. :-). And by the way, her mom looks the same way. It's in the genes.
She did a video on dressing an older woman (her mom) so she might do one on dressing diferent shapes.
Great tips again. But question : why are you drinking your water from a pickle jar?
Posture for ever
I love the way neutrals look on others, I just look washed out and sickly whenever I have tried them.
I Love your styling tips Alyssa, Plus I love the top your wearing, we don’t have that app here in Australia 🇦🇺 as far as I know....Have a Great Week from Nellie Down Under 🇦🇺💖💖💖💖
Hi Alyssa :) A long shot I know but where did you get your top and is it still available? I love it
I have an off-the-shoulder top like that but it keeps springing up over my shoulders! How do I keep it from doing that? Love your channel - 😊
you look like a sweet and caring person
You look so tanned and well rested, as though you just vacationed in Greece and Italy.
Oh, wait......
Great video as always ♡ do you take a travel size steamer with you when you travel? Thank you and best regards from Brazil!
tips start at 4:04 mark
There! That jacket at 8:19 bottom right is a Cheetah print. Dots, not rings. (Rings are leopard) Just mentioning cuz previous vid of yours you were saying you thought your coat might be Cheetah print. (It's leopard.) Thanks for another great vid!
Alyssa what would you suggest to do if I wanted to go for a edgy look with a slow fashion approach?
Thank you 🇬🇧💋xx
Can anyone recommend a really good steamer for clothes???
Totalmente de acuerdo contigo... ★★★★★ ♥♥♥♥♥
Alyssa, when your video notification popped up I was explaining who you are to my husband who has no clue about UA-cam 😂
Would you share who that beautiful watch is made by?
👍Thank You...great tips..
Talking about always looking elegant and drinking from a pickle jar 😂
That's considered:
Timeless
Chic
Or
Vintage
🤗😂👍🥰
Oh and/or Minimal
Environmentally friendly is sexier than plastic..
You look especially beautiful in this video
That jacket did not fit. It was too tight across the bust that made it pull when it was buttoned at the waist. The model kept tugging at it.
I agree for the fit. But the following tip for ironing... That's when i wanted to leave the video ;)
3:57
I tailor my own clothes. I have been sewing on a machine, since I was 7.
wow you are so talented! That is such a valuable skill!!
@@AlyssaBeltempo Your styling skills are phenomenal!
I am a nurse. No manicures. Clean and go
What is with youtubers and using those awful wire hangers. I hope it is just something extra you just do for aesthetics (though I don't know how having extra hangers for filming fits with the minimalist philosophy. That's just so extra).
Great advice as always! My dear, where is your black blazer from? I'm in love with it!
You are so beautiful!💕🤩👏👏👏
