I have been on cholesterol lowing medication for 40 years and followed a low fat, low salt and low sugar diet. Life's been pretty dull food wise. I was also overweight. My cholesterol levels remained high.Three years ago I commenced 18/6 intermittent fasting by accident...I was very busy with an autoimmune disease awareness page and my first meal of the day became later and later. For the first time (I suspect) in my life my cholesterol levels are normal and I don't have any inflammation in my 70 year old body. I have reintroduced eggs and cheddar cheese back into my diet after a very long absence. I try to restrict carbs but otherwise eat what I want in two meals a day. I've never felt better and wish I'd known what I know now years ago. Cheers from Australia 🇦🇺

@@latrissia5207 Good question! It all depends! Check the ingredients list to see if the butter has hydrogenated oils, trans fat, and also if it's high in saturated fat if you have high cholesterol. Vegan just means it does not have any animal food in it. But just because some time is vegan doesn't mean it's healthy to eat all the time. For example, oreo cookies and lays potato chips are vegan, but I wouldn't tell my client to eat many of those items daily. :) Moderation is key

Hello! New subscriber from Nashville, TN! I am on a health journey & doing all I can to improve my numbers. Finally learned the difference in HDL & LDL. Thank you & Keep up the good work!
Welcome and congrats on starting your health journey! I've never been to Nashville! What's your favorite thing about being there? Knowing the difference between HDL and LDL is important. HDL is good as it removes excess cholesterol from your bloodstream, while LDL is bad as it can build up in your arteries and increase your risk of heart disease and stroke. Keep learning and feel free to ask for help. Best of luck on your journey!

Hello Diana Lipski! Stress can indeed influence cholesterol levels. Short-term stress can cause temporary spikes in cholesterol due to the release of cortisol. However, chronic stress can indirectly affect cholesterol through unhealthy lifestyle choices. Managing stress effectively with practices like mindfulness and exercise is key for maintaining overall heart health. Thank you for your question! Your support for our videos is greatly appreciated! 👍😊

Oh no. I just bought shrimp thinking it was healthy. Thank you. I am going to have to rethink my food list. Can you list foods that are good in lower cholesterol. I need help. My doctor is on my self to lowering cholesterol. I am committed.
No worries! It's great that you're committed to lowering your cholesterol and taking charge of your health. While shrimp isn't necessarily unhealthy, it's higher in cholesterol compared to other protein sources like fish, chicken, or plant-based options. Some foods that are known to help lower cholesterol include oats, beans, legumes, vegetables, and foods fortified with sterols and stanols. By incorporating more of these foods into your diet and limiting saturated and trans fats, you can make significant strides in lowering your cholesterol levels. Dear Shanon, I cannot thank you enough for this video! You explained everything so well and clearly. Also, actually giving the values of cholesterol/ Sat fat in foods has made so much more sense to me now. There is a lot of conflicting advice on health and foods to eat and I get confused. I know that you cannot give individual medical advice, but if a hypothetical person had been told that they had heart disease (and that they had slightly raised cholesterol) can heart disease be reversed if they lower their cholesterol? Or at least not get worse? Arteries cleaner? This 'person' has been advised to go on statins but for some reason that they cannot even explain to themselves does not want to. Thank you very much and I am heading to your website now to try educate myself better. You look the picture of health and your kindness and care shines through.
As a registered dietitian and healthcare professional, I truly value the importance of a thorough assessment of an individual's medical history, lifestyle, and overall health status. 💻 Before giving any recommendations or advice, it's crucial to understand the complexity of medical conditions like heart disease and high cholesterol. 🧐 Such conditions require individualized treatment plans based on various factors, such as age, gender, family history, medication use, and other comorbidities. 🤝 Additionally, any changes in medication or lifestyle should be closely monitored and supervised by a healthcare professional. It's my responsibility to ensure that the advice given is safe, effective, and tailored to the individual's unique needs. 🙏 Therefore, I'm unable to provide advice for a hypothetical person without conducting a full assessment and consulting with other healthcare professionals involved in their care. This approach ensures that the advice given is thoughtful, compassionate, and of the highest quality. Nonetheless, thank you for understanding the importance of personalized care and for tuning into the video Debra! :)

Remember, small adjustments can make a big difference in improving your overall health. Take care, and don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or concerns.
This was absolutely eye opening how a little portion can take you over threshold. Eating 2 eggs with shredded cheddar and a little butter on one slice of toast is killing me.
Hello mam ! I am Ahmad from UAE. Well done ✅ for informative video. I want to ask whether sugar intake in any form even honey increases cholesterol levels and second what about sunflower oil. Does it contain trans fat and not used for cooking because great majority of us use it. Thanks
So glad you found this video helpful! No, sugar (including honey) does not directly raise cholesterol. Sunflower oil, when consumed in moderation, does not significantly raise cholesterol levels. Sunflower oil does not naturally contain trans fats, but if hydrogenated, it can contain trans fats. :)
Eat lots of fiber! Typically we need anywhere from 25-38 grams a day! Track your fiber intake one day and see how close you are to that number. Really great video, & I'm in NY as well!🗽 i have a question about the great debate on oils! I've always heard ovoo is great but in recent times I've been hearing tht it's not so great over a certain temperature when cooking. So now I use it if I know something will be cooked within minutes and then avocado oil for anything going in the oven for longer periods of time, but then there's heresy abt that!😮💨 can u breakdown which ones may be best, I also use coconut oil at times too!😅 are any of these actually bad tho or not really?!
Thanks for watching! Technically, we do not even need to cook with oil (but that's a topic for another video, haha). You're actually doing everything correctly! Just a small tip: when using oil for cooking, it's important to consider the smoke points of different oils. Olive oil has a smoke point of 410 degrees Fahrenheit, while avocado oil has a smoke point of 520 degrees Fahrenheit. Beyond these temperatures, the oils can start to burn and become harmful. So, as long as you cook below these temperatures for both oils, you'll be fine! Additionally, it's always beneficial to focus on moderation when it comes to oil consumption. It's best to obtain your fats primarily from whole foods like olives, nuts, seeds, and other nutritious sources. Hope this information helps you create an even better cooking experience! :)
@Nourish Center with Shanon thank you so much for your reply! Something was up with my UA-cam so I saw that u replied but I couldn't read it or reply but it's all sorted now. Thanks for breaking down the information on the oils!🤗🤗

We switched to Miyoko’s plant based ‘butter’ because there is no trans fat (on the label) and it tastes just like butter (I’ve gone through so many vegan spreads that, I think, all taste horrible. Going to write to the company to see if they will disclose if there are any trans fat in this product. Shanon, I just discovered your videos, and want to thank you so much. It would be awesome if you could consider listing good whole foods that are gluten free. My son is celiac, and we keep,a gluten-free house to limit the chances of life-threatening cross contamination. Oats are out because it has been revealed recently that even certified oats can be contaminated. He eats plenty of beans though - I need to do the same now.
That’s a good idea to write to the company! If you call the number on the back of their product you can usually find a telephone number you can call to inquire about their ingredients. Best of luck! 😊 I’m so glad you are enjoying the videos! I will make a video in the future about gluten-free foods to help those who have celiac disease. Thanks for the suggestion and I hope you continue to enjoy the videos!😊
I eat only whole foods (not processed). Also, I never eat trans fats. I take omega 3 fatty acids and for years have been taking a teaspoon of psillium husk every day. Yet, my blood tests revealed VERY high cholesterol (the bad cholesterol). This is mystifying.

@nourishcenter kindly list some of the whole-wheat foods to take for me. I tried several foods but my cholesterol does not go down. I do exercises everyday. I was given medication for 3 months and was normal then after that it went up again. Please help me because I think I am not taking the right foods.
To each their own :) but I was just referencing their information. I find it interesting that WHO recommends less sugar than the USDA, don’t you think? Whole Foods and organic are great options, but unfortunately not always accessible for everyone, especially those living in food deserts 😞 I will be talking about this in a future video too!
Hello Lea! 🌴 It's great to connect with someone from the Philippines. I understand your concerns about high cholesterol and triglycerides. When it comes to rice consumption, here are some tips: 🍚 Portion control is key. Aim for about 1/2 to 1 cup of cooked rice per meal. This should provide you with sufficient carbohydrates without overloading on calories. 🥗 Balance your plate. Make sure to include plenty of vegetables, lean protein, and healthy fats alongside your rice. This will help keep your meal balanced and nutritious. 🚫 Avoid excessive fried rice or dishes that are high in unhealthy fats, as they can worsen your cholesterol and triglyceride levels. 🌾 Consider switching to brown or whole-grain rice. These options are higher in fiber, which can help manage cholesterol and triglycerides. 📅 Regularly monitor your cholesterol levels and work closely with a healthcare professional or a dietitian to create a personalized dietary plan that suits your needs. Remember, it's not just about how much rice you consume but also about the overall quality of your diet. A balanced and mindful approach to eating can make a significant difference in managing your cholesterol and triglyceride levels. Take care! 😊🍽️🌿
Thank you for this presentation. You mentioned limiting cheddar cheese intake which I love. Can I replace cheddar cheese with other cheeses? I don't eat meat.
You're very welcome! I'm glad you found the presentation helpful. If you're looking to limit cheddar cheese intake but still enjoy cheese, there are several alternatives to consider, especially if you don't eat meat. Feta cheese, goat cheese, ricotta cheese, and mozzarella cheese are all cheeses that have lower saturated fat compared to cheddar! Also, some plant-based cheeses may be lower in saturated fat, too, but definitely check the nutrition facts label! When choosing cheese, look for options lower in saturated fat and consider moderation. Combining these alternatives with a well-balanced diet, rich in fruits, vegetables, and whole grains, can help you manage your cholesterol effectively while still enjoying delicious flavors. 🧀🥦🍏

Lifestyle changes like improving your diet, increasing physical activity, and managing stress can often help lower cholesterol naturally.Subscribe to the UA-cam channel and stay tuned for this week's video! 🎬

I have a question, does Stress elevate our Cholesterol Level, sincerely, Diana Lipski, have a Wonderful night, I love your videos 👍
Wow, what an eye opener. Thanks for the info 😎

I have been using MCT oil in my coffee. It has 0 cholesterol but has 35 grams of saturated fat. Should I avoid MCT oil?
saturated fat can also increase ldl....
Saturated fat has been shown to increase cholesterol, so I would limit, but MCT oil does have benefits, so use in moderation. :) Feel free to subscribe (if you haven't done so already) if you are interested in more content like this. A new video will be dropped this week 🍏😊.
The key is moderation. Thank you.

Enjoyed video, it was informative…
Wonderful! I am glad the video was helpful. What's one key point that you took away from the video? :)
If this content speaks to you, hit that subscribe button for more. Exciting update: new video arriving this week!

Can I use peanut butter at all
Welcome!! And yes! Peanut butter is fine, but check that the ingredients list just says "peanut butter" and no other unnecessary ingredients.
Thanks a lot

What can I eat or do to flush older cholesterol from my hear and body
Eat lots of fiber! Typically we need anywhere from 25-38 grams a day! Track your fiber intake one day and see how close you are to that number. Fiber binds to cholesterol in your body and helps to remove it! If you're liking what you're seeing, consider subscribing for more. Don't miss our new video dropping this week! 🌟
What should the food on my plate look like? Measurements. Please.
I typically advise 50% non-starchy vegetables, 25-30% protein and 20-25% starchy foods. Hope this helps!
Happy and Lousy is how I remember the difference between the two cholesterols.
Me too! It's so much easier to remember it that way!
Hi i am from india and my age is 48yrs , i am taking medication for lvef 25 percent, i checked my lipid profile tryglicidrides 3000 mg i am shocked last year it was 900 ... Pls suggest....
Hello from India! I A significant increase in triglycerides like that can be alarming. It's essential to follow up with your healthcare provider to understand the potential causes and discuss appropriate interventions. Lifestyle changes such as adopting a heart-healthy diet, regular exercise, and managing stress can often help improve lipid profiles. Take care, and remember to prioritize your health. Subscribe to the UA-cam channel and stay tuned for this week's video!
Thank You

Thank you so much! Will do❤❤
Really great video, & I'm in NY as well!🗽 i have a question about the great debate on oils!

I’m so glad you are enjoying the videos!

Do you recommend any natural supplements to take, such as Red Yeast or Cholest-off?
Those are great, but I always recommend eating whole foods, first! Whole foods are BEST! :)
@nourishcenter kindly list some of the whole-wheat foods to take for me. I tried several foods but my cholesterol does not go down. I do exercises everyday. I was given medication for 3 months and was normal then after that it went up again. Please help me because I think I am not taking the right foods.
Benecol chews are great
What food a have good cholesterol in order to help lower the bad? We still need the food kind to be healthy right?
I notice you mention who. I have zero trust in them. Better to try whole foods or organic and stay away from processed foods.
I'm Lea a Filipina from Philippines I have high cholesterol and high triglycerides I'm eating rice how much rice I consume during meal
Hello Lea! 🌴 It's great to connect with someone from the Philippines. I understand your concerns about high cholesterol and triglycerides. When it comes to rice consumption, here are some tips:
🍚 Portion control is key.
