As a self taught golfer who has shot a 66, I have to acknowledge that AMG has been tremendously helpful in my golf journey of the last 4 years. Thank you, guys! You teach the facts of fantastic golf. “A reason to rotate” is my favorite quote from you. Keep up the wonderful work.
you guys are so knowledgeable and the way you describe and demonstrate the required movements and positions that we need to play good golf is mind blowing tks for sharing sharing your knowledge with all of us
Thank you for those kind words 🙏🏻 we have the best job in world to have an objective view at what all these great players actually do in their swings. It’s awesome to be able to share it 👊🤓
another insightful video - TY VM - this is exactly how little kids develop their swings - (chip shots, pitches) and as they develop and for those that continue to play at a higher level maintain that trail side hit!
Great content again, solving all the mysteries in the golf swing with cold hard facts. I would think the early recentering is a Must to avoid fat shots as well. Fat, thin...the worst shot for me were hozzel rockets which became a problem years ago. Even snapped the heads off several graphite shafted clubs, lol!
Thanks so much! Another great insight about the armswing myth and impacting infront of the trail hip. In other videos you guys have spoken about seeing to much leadarm adduction. How can my leadarm abduct in the downswing when my trailarm solely lowers and doesn't moves out to the ball? Or retracts the lead shoulder blade in the downswing? I can't wrap my mind around that. Would love to see both arms/ shoulder blades in your FOR perspective moving through the hole swing! All the best!!
Great question and one we covered last night in our online membership call. To wrap your head around it, you've got to think in 3D and keep in mind the points that make up that angle - C7 vert, shoulder, and elbow. At the top, your elbow is X distance away from your C7. If you just lower your trail arm/hands down to your side - did that distance from your lead elbow to C7 grow or shrink? 😉
Ahh, okay. I'd say the distance increases. In a previous video you showed that angel from above/in the transverse plane, with the lead arm infront or even outside the lead shoulder. But with shoulder extension in consideration it totally makes sense. Thank you for clarifying!! One last thing: Are the shoulder blades an exception and don't reverse their motion during the downswing? So the lead shoulder blade staying in protraction to possibly allow a more open chest with neutral shoulders or should it retract to get the hands more in front? Thanks a lot!!!
@@Jonzge98 You got it! That angle would increase. When we made that video back then, I didn't explain it well enough from the 3D perspective. You're also spot on with the shoulder protraction/retraction. Post impact is when they start to switch.
Perfect, thank you so much for your answers and the knowledge that you share!! I'm a physio student and can't afford lessons, so the imput from you guy's helped me a lot! Probably more than a local pro could have and certainly more then other "feel based" YT channels. All the best Jonathan
Fantastic video! Thank you so much. A huge light bulb has gone off as to how I see the body at impact - and how to get there. Hands on the trail side - wow - you have not finished the downswing yet until after impact - and unloading to 4 o'clock. One question - is it right to think that the side bend is need to reach the ball since your body has moved forward a few inches and rotated 40-45 degrees?
Great video guys. Gets me thinking of another one you did when Sean was in the full gears sensors and showed how the shoulder line is closed at impact but the torso and hips open up beneath it. To really ingrain that feeling, do you guys recommend trying to feel the lead side lat and core stretch while the shoulders, clavicle, thoracic spine area stays more closed?
@ you guys are the best. Always wondered about this and ended up drilling it at the range…I’d never felt so much space before! Made me realize how bad of a spinner I was!
Guys, great video as usual and questions abound on a subject that I have been all too familiar with. I will save a few for the coaches call. The one I do have right now is I have been working on less then full swings and have had a huge issue with hitting the shots heavy. I know when we’re setting up for the shorter swing weight moves to the front foot and we try to stay there during the swing. Is there still a shift forward from the top to get the shoulder further in front them where we started.?
There is but usually players do that through upper body rotation which shuts down lower body rotation. When that happens the trail hip stalls and the club bottoms out behind the ball 😬
What do you guys think about the alignment stick under the trail armpit drill (aka the Hideki drill) to train hitting off of the trail side? I’ve messed around with it, but I’m worried it’s teaching me to be passive with the arms, BUT I could be doing it wrong.
@@AthleticMotionGolf the hand speed video from 4 yrs ago was money! I’ve watched it a couple times, each time I pick up something different. Combining the arm movement with the knee flex feel to keep tilts in the BS that you talked about with Como ( watched it last night, I know you have hit that hard before). For some reason it clicked different this time. It just can’t be that easy to be on plane. And the nugget about the club moving in the opposite direction of the body at the start of the DS was gold! Again thx. I’m gonna have to get to a school.
Lee Trevino has stated on many occasions to play the ball progressively back in your stance to avoid fat shots . Although doing so is obviously not optimum for really players , it might be the ticket for the average golfer
i have a question about the hips in the backswing. with the plane of glass on the butt, in the backswing does the right hip go back through that plane or does the left hip move away from it towards the ball?
I’ve heard you guys talk about hitting from the trail side before. Couldn’t you just set up with every club with the ball positioned opposite the back foot? Then you’re already hitting off the trail side without having to shift your body weight forward?
