  • Strongest pocket Knife for the Money? Cold Steel SR1 Lite. Cold Steel is know for making some of the toughest folding knives in the world but most of them are $80 and up. So I found the Cold Steel SR1 Lite which is way cheaper but can it handle the same amount of abuse as there more premium folders? I also wanted to see how it performed regular edc cutting task and could it hold a reasonable edge while doing so. So I decided put it to the test come see how it did.

    Don’t look further than cold steel knives if you’re after a really hard use knife, one that your life can depend on. Great job from Cold Steel and great Taiwanese knife manufacturing prowess.

    Cold steel does some of the best plastic handles there is and people don't seem to talk about it. You really don't lose much going from the premium s35vn models down to the plastic+AUS10/AUS8/8cr models

      I second that great comment

    • @TK-wd7de
      @TK-wd7de Рік тому +6

      Yeah 8cr is a great steel as a person who actually uses knives not just for cutting boxes 8 cr is just as good as s30v i cant stand the knife market pushing "premium" steels like they think it matters the question people need to ask is not what steel but what the heat treatment is is what you should be asking dont fall for the corperate bs these knife snobs push

    • @andreigolovik3047
      @andreigolovik3047 Рік тому

      @T K That's just objectively wrong. s30v is better than 8cr in every regard--assuming decent HT--except for "ease of sharpening." However, the edge retention of s30v, especially for cutting cardboard, makes s30v edges last longer between *full* sharpenings.
      Also, what is up with people forgetting that punctuation exists? Your comment looks like it got machine translated through every language in Europe and back to English

    • @TK-wd7de
      @TK-wd7de Рік тому +1

      What do you use your knives for because i have a pm2 and it just doesnt impress me at all and edge retention is not always a good thing i skin alot of animals and bones chip blade edges and i want to be able to sharpen easy i doubt you use knives the way i do i would not spend 100 dollars on a hammer so i wouldnt on a knife if i gave you a knife unmarked you wouldnt even know what steel it is i fell for the consumer shit too and i snaped out of it realizing i actually use my knives not collect them steel is irrelivent

    I love my Sr1lite it one of the smoothest back locks I've ever had.
    It's my outdoor knife. I don't mind 8cr because it's very easy to get screaming sharp. Which I'd rather have, then something that takes hours to get a edge on.
    I personally really like your videos. I hate videos that are just "look what I have it's great because I say so".
    You actually show us why it's good or not.
    Have a good one

    On my SR1 the edge of the blade hit the spring when the knife was closed and it damaged the edge. First thing I did was disassemble the knife and chamfer the sharp edges and polish some surfaces, then I put a piece of rubber tubing on the pin that the blade rests against and reprofiled the edge and sanded the area under the clip. So, took some work but now I'm really happy with the knife. :)

    Having the premium versions of the 4MAX, AD10, and AD15, I was amazed how the Lite versions of the 4MAX and SR1 felt in comparison; not bad at all! That Grivory they use is so thick and stippled so well. It's definitely the nicest feeling plastic handles out there. Impressed by all my large Cold Steel in the collection. G10 or plastic, they all perform well above other knives I've paid much much more for.

    I damaged an edge and broke two tips on my Spyderco s… I won’t buy other knives less a Benchmade freak ,other than a cold steel! Stassa, just hold the scales on the knife, don’t use the thumb studs and flick your wrist , it will deploy nicely! I told Jimmy slash the same thing. The weight of the stock will deploy the knife through a kinetic wrist flick! I can do that with both of my voyagers reg and xl too.

Has several handle and blade options, but wont be quite as beefy. I have 2, and just ordered another for $22, that comes with a partially serrated blade and g10 handle. Theirs also has an incorporated strap cutter and glass breaker. 4.2 inch tanto style blade and its been around for a long time. Wouldnt be surprised if their knife is what inspired this.

    I have 18" arms. Body builder. I put my Glock FM78 completely through a piece of pine exactly that thick and it went through the pine, come out 0.7cm the other side and then went 0.7cm into another piece of pine behind that (the table - a brick pallet crate) with one hit. I did it 6-8 times. On the 3rd or 4th strike it split the wood plank in half.

      I thought about getting one but the one that I handled at my local shop was way to hard for me to manipulate with my messed up hands so I probably wouldn’t be able to do that one 👍

      @@Stassa23 Yeah. They are stoopid hard to disengage the lock. I have switched the paracord for a keyring and it is still really tough.

    The problem with a low quality "beater" is when you need it, it's going to get a beating. That steel isn't up to it. Heat treating can't work miracles on the alphabet soup grades. ✌

      I definitely don’t like the steel however it surpassed anything I’d ever need it for so it’s kinda hard for me to knock it
