    I just want one because they're big and daft. As knife enthusiasts we all have our dainty light use knives, our super clean fidgety knives and maybe an ancient favourite beater. So who doesn't want to add a big daft slab to their collection?!

    UA-camr " JOEX " recently did a destruction test on the SR1 Lite and was unsuccessful in destroying it. The engineers @Cold Steel know what they're talking about. They know the proper tempering techniques. I was super astonished of this budget knife.

    I live out in the Florida woodlands and the thing I like about the sr1 is the fact I can carry a blade in my pocket and no one knows I am carrying a knife that has similar properties to a fixed blade but very compact and easily deployed. The reliability of a knife is a characteristic that some people look over to have it made lighter and more comfortable in the pocket. Great review Aaron as always!

    Cold Steel makes some really good folders no doubt. I carry the Voyager XL everyday and have been for almost 10 years. It’s solid. That triad lock is the best. I’m going to check out the SR1. Jonny likey.

      Me too, the Voyager XL Clip Point. I absolutely love the knife. In VA, you can conceal carry a folding knife of any blade length, accept in certain areas. Unfortunately, we don't have preemption, so my liberal county makes it's on rules. In the "Gun Free" park my daughter plays in, I can't carry my pistol, and they limit the folding knife blade length to 4 inches. These knives look like good options for 4" folders.

    I don't yet own a single folder. All my knives are fixed blades but I'm really considering this SR1. It looks like a really solid knife. It would be nice to be able to carry a knife for hiking etc without the hassle of carrying a fixed blade. I've never been the type into folders but this one really floats my boat. The guys at Dutch bushcraft knives also gave it a really positive review.

For what 99.999 percent of anything I would practically tried at it..hell, even a decent amount of abuse in my real life…no problem for these monsters.

    I bought the SR1 Lite Tanto, Voyager Large Tanto in AUS-10A, Immortal in S35VN, and Click N Cut this year. I did not know 8CR13MOV received so much bad press. But I like mine as a knife when I wear work pants. It is a tough knife, and I keep mine as sharp as possible. But you and Jimislash kept your shows with unbiased views and brought out what the SR1's (especially the Lite versions) are capable of. Thank you for that.

    I have the SR-1 Tanto and Clip point in the Lite version and I have to say, they're "unbeatable"! I've been EDCing them both for almost a year. So, I've ordered the premium SR-1 Clip point cause it looks like to me, that it is the ULTIMATE folder! Every video and review that I've seen on it, reaffirms my conclusion!!! For me, the SR-1, is the best of the best... GREAT video here too btw!!!

    I only paid $37 for the sr1 lite on Amazon. And the only difference is no g10 scales and 8cr14mov instead of s35vn…I’ll take it if it saves me $100 difference if I just have to touch up the blade more often. Doesn’t matter to me. This thing is a freakin beast. Light summer carry is the okc rat 1

    Okay, so here is my use profile for the SR1, and it rocks. I have the standard clip version. I carry it in my backpack or hip pack when I am moto camping. It is the knife I have "on me" for basic food prep. The point is sharp for poking and piercing. The handle is big enough to give full purchase with a motorcycle gloved hand. The strength of the knife is appreciated for any number of tough roadside repair or emergency applications. I have actually used the knife to break a window and cut seatbelt to extract an rollover accident victim when I was first at the scene on a back road. Last, the linear shape makes it ideal for self defense use. I carry a camping fixed blade in my saddlebag, but the SR1 is the knife I have on me.

    I have the AD10 and the SR1Lite. The AD10 is my EDC. The SR1Lite is for when I travel to Honduras. The SR1Lite would be illegal to pocket carry there, but legal to carry in a pouch (it fits in a pistol mag pouch).

    I have one of the SR 1 Lites and will get another at some point and I agree 100% with those comments. It's a beast/tank of a knife and is really $ well spent.

  • @dash8465

    I bought a standard SR1 G10/CPM and I gotta say its an impressive knife for the money.
    With the Tri-ad lock, these things are a legit fixed-blade replacement for reasonable taskes, especially compared to half tang, skeltonized tang or rat tail types.
    The machining/grinding on mine is pretty much perfect.
    The SR1 is a fantastic fixed-blade alternate for low-key day hikes, mountain biking, or trekking with your wife's sheep friends where a 9"+ fixed blade would draw unwanted attention or give off a Rambo vibe. It's a great companion for my G35 in a Maxpedition Civilian's ccw pouch.
    The SR1 is also an easy carry in a sling-pack's mag/multi-tool pouch.
    The one place I can't see fit to carry the SR1 is.. in my jeans pocket.

    I carry the range boss in my front right pocket and the sr1 lite tanto in the rear left pocket. The range boss, even with a little over 4 inch blade, is a small knife it likes to sit in the fingers. The sr1 lite is big. It sits in the hand. I've literally pryed with it. Since the lite model has a bit of a softer steel, I just scrape it on sh!+ to sharpen it, and I steel it on other knives. It will shave wet but not dry, and I'm fine with that level of sharpness for what it is. . . A pry bar.

      @@gideonstactical I'm going to call them tomorrow . the tolerance is tight . it didn't come damaged , it's on the edge straight down from where the swedge starts , when you close the knife it hits a high point on the in side of the lock bar. Mine is definitely hitting and rolling BUT possibly sharpening may fix this ( tight tolerances ) , I'm going to contact them first before sharpening , I feel like it probably doesn't happen on every example but could be fixed at factory by increasing handle height or blade height where blade hits pin on the inside or a little of both . on another review in the comments I had seen that cold steel had acknowledged this issue , like I said it probably isn't every one , I own lots of cold steel products and could go on and on and love them all , please don't be disparaged if you're reading this comment IF YOU'RE INTERESTED IN THIS KNIFE OR ANY COLD STEEL PRODUCTS GET IT . Thanks Aaron I always enjoy your reviews keep up the good work . Thanks

    Hi, thank you for the nice review. Just a little thing, the weight SRK 1C is just 1oz bigger as you said (and there is a bit more of the edge, which is good), but sometimes we forget weight and size of a sheath so we can make from comparable size and weight a folder and a fixed knife completely uncomparable items. Here for example the SR 1we can somehaw put it into our pocket. The SRK 1C WITH the sheath makes the width of the blade nearly ×2 and it adds atleast 2oz I gues, so now we have completely different items to carry:-) Just opinion… Good job and I like CS knives and SR 1 will be definitely in my collection;-) FM

    This is my new self-appointed mission in life! TO WARN PEOPLE BEFORE BUYING THE SR1 KNIFE. The design FLAW IS THAT IT IS AN ABSOLUTE POCKET SHREDDER!!! YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO PUT THIS KNIFE IN AND OUT OF YOUR PANTS AND REMOVE IT WITHOUT SHREDDING YOUR PANTS, OR EVEN THE NYLON STRAPS ON YOUR BACKPACK. My credentials for making such a definitive statement? I carry a knife every single day. I have owned and used Medfords, Chris Reeves, Hoback and Hinderer knives. I have 4 Medfords sitting on my shelf presently. My favorite EDC, Spyderco Military and Paramilitary 2. Why does anyone waste their time doing a review on this knife when the first thing that should be mentioned, is that it is A POCKET SHREDDER!. Sure, you can bend the clip to loosen it, or sand down the G10 under the clip and mod the knife. I picked mine up from the post office, put it in my pocket, immediately packed it back in the box and slapped on a return label. End of story. BUYER BEWARE ON THIS COLD STEEL MODEL!

    • @haydenwayne637
      @haydenwayne637 Рік тому

      That applies to practically every knife ever made with G10 scales/handle. Literally anybody who knows anything about knives knows this. It also isn't a design flaw having a knife that is never going to get snagged out of your pocket and lost.

    Waiting for the sr1 lite to become in available over here in the U.K. I have the srk-c witch I’ve paired up with a gomboy 240, I haven’t seen you review the srk-c yet and I’m interested to hear your take on this tool, personally I’ve retired my hog 4.5 for it and in doing so have shaved a few more ounces out of my Bergen so happy days.

    Thank you very much for uploading this video.
    I have one question though.
    Cold Steel shows in its videos that the CS SR1 can handle much more hanging weight than the CS SR 1 lite. Could you explain this to me, please (the different materials do not affect the lock, do they?)?
    Thank you very much in advance for taking the time to answer my question.

    Cold Steel needed to make The SR1 Lite in 9CR18MOV,AUS 10 A or a Sandvick Steel.I really would have paid an extra $20 for an upgraded budget steel on The Lite model.I believe it would not have killed Cold Steel to do this at a reasonable price.

    its a solder knife - and crazy as it sounds - the sr1 lite is actually tougher than the sr1 - for some reason the cheaper steel makes the knife harder to break - the sr1 lite clip point has been given the hard earned title of " indestructible " - its even stronger than the sr1 tanto ( which is also super tough ) i have them both and have not regretted owning both - for the money - how could you not buy both

    • @haydenwayne637
      @haydenwayne637 Рік тому

      The SR1 steel is harder and less tough than the tougher AUS8 style steel on the Lite. It is to be expected as that's the way steels generally work, you can have harder more wear resistant or you can have softer tougher steel. It is very difficult to have it both ways.
