I got to know this master over 30 years ago. I had known and listened to the late legend Paco De Lucia RIP. .. But with Peña, you get to know the essence of traditional Flamenco like no other. He's one of the great masters of an original art, and a living legend.. God bless him.
a fabulous recording, had the pleasure of meeting Paco in Jersey back in the 80's, has a pint with him after a performance! Such a nice and humble man.
Paco Pena by far represents the very soul of Flamenco--every note resounding within me. I only wish there was a video of him playing this recording so fiery and passionate.
this album called " Flamenco " it's one the best albums for paco pena, he played for Nino Ricardo and Sabicas, he is my inspiration and my school in flamenco guitar, thank you for uploading :)
You're right it was one from the first recordings from Paco. As said above there're some "left hand" recordings that appears later but this was his first official release. As far as I know it was named "Flamenco" in the Philips edition but tje "Incredible Paco Pena" in the Contour edition one owns. You're welcome : )

Incredible performance. It's several times better than classical guitar. Paco Pena, Sabicas, Ramon Montoya, Antonio Rey, Paco de Lucia, Carlos Montoya, and other great flamenco guitarists are a great pleasure to me.

Muchas gracias.
I'm a big fan of Paco Pena. He's the most listenable flamenco player alive today. But when I listen again to this album, which I bought back in 1971, I can't help thinking that this shows him trying to make a name for himself. It's technically superb, but it feels clinical, cold, and overly repetitious at times. The later stuff from mid-70's onwards shows Paco playing in a much more relaxed and mature way, with greater expression. His stuff from the 80's is arguably the best traditional flamenco ever recorded. His Gerundino sound is also one of the best ever. That combination is unbeatable.
Dear Paul. Hi. I have the LP. Copied it professionally onto a CD, which I sent to the maestro some years ago . Let me know if you would like it. Abrazos. JOHN
@@hamedtriqui What you say is true and I only discovered it earlier this year from a Venezuelan conductor. I value the fact that he stays true to traditional flamenco. No fancy jazz chords.
No fancy jazz chords!!! Thats true.It is really very romantic and sentimental.
I have to agree there is plenty of room for Pacos of all influences. Viva la memoria de Don Paco Lucia!

How exactly am I supposed to interpret the time stamps in the description and the A and B side??

Ok his guitar isn't tuned to 440hz - but who cares! Flamenco music at its finest.
The 440 norm is only a business one that appears at the early 70 th The natural norm is 432 hz. A lot of pianists and guitarists are still using it
