My father bought this LP in London in 1962...the first time I heard flamenco guitar...it opened a new world for me...I am ever grateful for the gift of Sabicas to humanity...the purity and soul of this music can only be felt within, impossible to describe in words...
Congratulaciones (QDP).
I wore out this album as a youth in the 60's. Got to listen to him and Escucero at El Poche restaurant's Rincon Room ,also at a performance at Wilshire Ebell .
I had this album given to me when I first started learning flamenco as a teenager. The sleeve was falling apart, which I repaired with sellotape, and I still have it today ... many decades later. This was one of the first stereo recordings ever made, and exploits the effect in a way that was obviously meant to highlight what, at the time, was a big technological step forward in sound recording. Proper stereo mixing probably never existed back in 1958. But the sound quality is superb even by modern standards. As for Sabicas, he was the benchmark by which all other flamenco guitarists were judged, and this recording is typical of his brilliance. It brings back old memories listening to this. Thanks for posting.
thanks for posting this! The first flamenco I heard (in the 50s) was Carlos Montoya, and I loved the energy. Then I heard Sabicas, and I said, "WOW !". I gave away most of my LPs a few decades ago, but kept my Sabicas LPs (8 of them, including this 1), but my old receiver developed a cantankerous output connection to one of the speakers, so I haven't played them for a number of years. The albums with Sabicas and his cousin Mario Escudero playing latin american songs were also wonderfully melodic.
Thanks for uploading this! If you haven't, listen to Mario Escudero's solo LP (it is also on UA-cam) called "Guitar Variations". I can hear a lot of Mario from that LP in this one.
I'm looking for the flamingo piece "La Rosalía" but I keep getting singers called Rosalía and I don't know who performed this. Can anybody help me? Thanks

Try the 13:50 mark. It's the first track on side B of the album which I'm very lucky to have in vinyl. 'Arabian fantasy' - his variation
