What a battle you set up!!!! Over 3000 minis!!! So impressive, I'd love to play a battle that size against a gentleman like yourself one day. Happy Christmas to you and your loved ones, thanks for the inspiration and the entertainment and may you always roll well
Being a Scotsman living in NZ it broke my wee heart to see the highlanders crumble 😢. Again very enjoyable to watch and thanks for all the work putting this togther. Cheers Chris
Thanks, Chris! I find myself slightly embarrassed that for only a 4 page rules system, whenever I re-read Valour and Fortitude, I find something I missed before. 🤣 The latest sentence I discovered would of helped the Scots, considerably! I'm looking forward to my next battle to see how things will work out! Have a fantastic rest of your week 👍
Fantastic report! Merry Christmas and thanks for getting me through a stretch of brain crap. I can not start Napoleonic’s into I paint my ACW stuff but this excellence scratch’s that itch for now. Let me know if you need ACW donations to the channel!
Thanks so much! I love that ACW stuff and I need to get back to my 6mm stuff at some point. I always love donations! If you want to send me an email, shainesrn@gmail.com I hope you had a Merry Christmas as well 🎄🎅🎄
Hello, great battle report. At the 1:08:50 mark I think that the King's German Legion should have won the melee based on "7.2.2 Determine Result: Units from the side that caused the most losses win the fight and units from the other side lose the fight. The active side wins tied fights. "
That is a sweet looking battlefield layout, the armies look brilliant fella. Your models are really nicely painted, I did have a question about broken units but I think it was stupid so didn't bother lol.
Arriving late to this so my apologies. Very nice looking game. I was intrigued by the interaction with the French columns and the Highland brigade at time stamp 52:04. The French columns seem to be ‘march columns’ and not ‘assault columns’. In my games, our basing of British battalions in line could only be contacted by two French battalions in attack column (without overlaps). Also, for the 91st Highlanders you only threw 5 dice, not 6, and didn’t reroll the 1. The Highlanders should have had 7 - they had a brigade support. The French should have had 4 plus 2 flank support plus 1 brigade support plus one for a gate card making 8 also, as there wasn’t enough room to get another attack column on the other flank. A French attack column was wider than it was deep, and march columns can’t fire and have a melee value of 1. I’m interested as we are replaying D’Erlon’s attack at Waterloo and I’ve got Picton’s division on the ridge. Hence my interest! Alastair Donald from New Zealand
You hit the nail on the head. I screwed up a few things with that engagement with the Highland Brigadevwhich would have completely changed that outcome! I'm still kicking myself for that one! Still, I appreciate the help! Thanks for popping in, and I hope the rest of your week is awesome!
Thanx , this was a great Gift. Seems like the French need some more heavies in Cav. especially if you get into more Russ. & Aust. stuff, both of whom had a ton of good cavalry (see Perry's plastics). I've been pushing out some Hanoverian Hussars, they're all in Red & Green, for the Holidays and a Nativity set in 28mm almost done for the big night before. Hugs.
Mate once again what an impressive set up battle report and watch, yes looks like your friend sent you alot more painting work haha,im impressed with amount of figures your commentry made me laugh, and your enthusiasm is inspirational im painting some britsh from 1852 crimean war ,got some more britsh on the go for awi all in 28mm scale watching what you have done gives me inspiration to get my own armies done maybe i will get around to battle reports in the future well merry xmas to you and family and look forward to more from your channel keep doing what you enjoy as its enjoyable watch😊
Thanks Darrin, I appreciate that! The game was a blast! Right now I'm getting my butt kicked by my 3D printer. Call me captain failed print. Hopefully I figure this out soon. Very frustrating learning curve!
Thank you, thank you, I enjoyed the game very much. Have recently become interested in this rule-set for gaming and have the rules but wanted to see a game in action. I must admit I don't like the cards, but enjoyed what I saw in troop movements and action. I have used playing cards in my games: the full pack plus Jokers: in that a King, Queen, or Jack one can bring on another brigade of infantry, or an Ace a brigade of cavalry. this gives you the hope of re-enforcement, but you don't know when. Therefore giving a certain amount of uncertainty of should I attack or defend with what I have. I started with official rules by Donald F. Featherstone 'War Games' 1962, then on to Bruce Quarrie for an in depth game 1974. This now shows my age, prior to 1962 I made up my own basic set of rules for playing on the floor of the up-stairs landing with 1/72 scale soldiers.
I'm jealous you have been in the hobby so long, that's awesome! Looks like you've been gaming since before I was born in 1970 🤣. Thanks for commenting, Sir, and have a fantastic rest of your day!
It was a fantastic battle. I did miss a rule or two that might of helped out the Highlanders if I got it right... still a great fight! Thanks for the comment and have a fantastic weekend 👍
And when you move to charge, if you fail to contact the enemy, as happened in the first charge against the Russian, you unit must end its movement 3" away from the enemy. You can move into the 3" gap only if you are succesfully charge in. New game after many games played with other ruleset end in some mistake, but keep going, it was a fun and enjoyable battle in any case!!
Artillery doesn't need to be in command range to fire. Artillery cannot normally fire over friendly OR enemy units unless using the Direceted Fire Fate card or within 12" of Napoleon and even then it must be on hill to do so.
Maybe someone have just pointed out to you, butb remember that you cannot charge if you fire, even if you fire with your skirmisher. The unit which use skirmishers may take an action that is not an assault.
Yeah, I bought them from a company that went out of business, but there are some good how to build your own teddy bear battle mat on UA-cam! Have a great week 👍
If you are referring to the miniatures... I got mine at: Warlordgames.com Perryminiatures.com Or Victrixlimited.com You can find all 3 brands of minis at tons of 3rd party sellers, including eBay and Amazon

I plan on doing 2 Squadrons of Dragoons for the French! Glad you enjoyed it! Have a fantastic Christmas 🎄
Me again, I do enjoy the close-ups of the troops especially the French columns in mass, but also the long lines of the red coated British.
