Great vid, SUPER excited to see you take on Platinum. I've used almost every Pokémon available in that game and know it pretty much inside and out. There are some real surprises in there too, like Lickilicky being really good! I'd love to share my thoughts and experiences if you'd like. As for FR/LG, I'm personally taking: Venusaur- you're coping if you think this isnt the best starter Magneton- steel is just too good in this game, strong Tbolts for Lorelei Dodrio- Strongest answer to Bruno's fighting Pokémon Snorlax- Stats are Chansey lite but it can also attack Vaporeon- between this and Lax, special moves are a non-issue, strongest non-stab ice beam Mr. Mime- same reasons as you, need at least something against all of the Poisons in this game

i used a lvl 55 venusaur but i had frenzy plant, giga drain and growth on him. i killed brunos onix first and setup growth with hitmonchan out, healed him when needed, and i started blasting. i healed any hits that the other pokemon dealt to me using giga drain and ohkoed machamp using frenzy plant and sweeped bruno.
Great team! My team in fire red was -Blastoise -Nidoking -Arcanine -Jolteon -Dodrio -Exeggutor I is not optimized but i never struggled with any of the major battles
Just beat fire red and my team was venosaur lvl 45, nidoking lvl 43, arcanine lvl 38, kabutops lvl 40, Fearow lvl 39, and zapdos at 53. If I had to trade anything out it would be Fearon for a psychic type since zapdos fulfills the flying thing

Here is what i've used.
1st team: Nidoking, Golem, Gyarados, Kabutops, Houndoom, Arcanine.
2nd team: Nidoqueen, Lapras, Magmar, Electabuzz, Donhan, Tauros.
3rd team: Kingler, Rhydon, Articuno, Rapidash, Gengar, Alakazam.
4th team: Arbok, Pinsir, Dodrio, Marowak, Ninetales, Vaporeon.
