I have two warriors my 02 got stolen so I bought a"new" 07 then the cops called me a year later and said they found the 02... I would also love to have a rc-51 parked next to my warriors lol... bikes are like tools you have to have the one for the job your trying to accomplish. There is a real need for multiple bikes.

Brian. Appreciate the videos with your experience with the warrior. I got mine in March 2020. I always do my own maintenance too. The 2nd oil drain plug was helpful before I did a oil change. My bikes oil looked great but I don't know it' maintenance history so oil and filter
Is a must for me. The OEM manuals oil 20-40w can b found. Yamaha dealer said Yama lube 20-50 is fine. I came up with 4 1/2 to 4-3/4 guards of oil for a good dip stick read.

Question for you....With my sport bikes with only one drain plug and no dry sump, I like to empty the oil and let it drip out for an hour till its completely empty and then pour fresh oil in to "rinse" out the insides. I use the new oil to just grab on to any loose particles that might not have drained and re-coat everything inside with fresh oil and then let that drain also. Do you think that would have the same effect with the warrior? Just curious. This bike is quite amazing at even how everyone with it fills it up to a different amount of oil ranging from 4.33 to 5 quarts and some even over! Thank you for your opinion.
Lots of nice to knows in this video. The wheres and the hows. If the MT-01 is the Warriors brother then the Suzuki 109 is the distant 3 times removed 4th cousin to the Warrior. Another muscle bike of the same generation. Changing the oil between the 2 are like night and day. The Warrior not too involved. The 109 (my friend's) has to have to oil just right - not a drop too much and not a drop too little. It is really particular or it runs like crap.
I've been looking at the m109r lately as a second bike. Saw one locally the other day and almost went to look at it, but wasn't quite ready to pull the trigger on it. Great bikes, and tons of fun too.

It can't be helped! Sad thing is, it's been three years since I've gotten my first Warrior and it still hasn't gone away. I love this bike and every single ride I get to take on it. Get rid of that sportster yet?

Life of Bryan nah man its all good. I have just picked up an 02 warrior and have been fixing all the stuff the previous owner rigged. coils and wires are on the way, already has an ais delete, big air kit, and power commander. Gotta get this BUB exhaust off here and find something else. I cant stand this raspy sound they have. I want the rumble and some noise but not the sharp crack they make under a load.
Hey Bryan, I'm curious as to what the purpose is of half filling the bike and adding more after 15 seconds. Wouldn't that cause more wear and tear?

Always! I still do a quick refresher every season. There are so many steps to doing every bit of maintainance, that sometimes they run together, and I'd hate to forget one.

What viscosity u use? 20w50??
I bought a Warrior and the previous owner cranked the front plug down to gorilla grip tight. Any ideas how to get it out with it being so close to the frame? I have a new drain plug and crush washer ordered.
Hopefully it isn't rounded off already. If you have a six point box wrench, it'll work pretty well to get a tight bolt removed. If it's too fat, you may have to grind it down a little to get it to fit. Engineers didn't think too much when placing that bolt for sure. If the bolt has rounded out, you may need to see if some vice grips will work.
Hey Bryan can this be done with my bike up on a stand? It's on my bike lift right now bc I've got the rear wheel and tire off
Hey Zach, thanks for watching and commenting. You can do this on a lift, stand no problem. I'd give the oil a little more time to drain if you're not able to actually let it get up to temperature. Running the bike before changing the oil just helps it to drain easier. As long as you have the bike level, and can reach the plugs and filter, you're set. Thanks again, stay safe out there.
I've done oil changes of an old iron head harley, Hondas shadow, honda cb1000c, Ktm 390, Yamaha radian as a rider with 3yrs of experience. But never seen a bike with 2 drain plugs..KtMs have 2 oil filter screens. I wonder why the RSW has 2 drain holes
dry sump system, 1 plug drains the oil tank and the other drains the " oil pan "

Most of the time a local auto parts store will take it free of charge from you.
OK maybe a stupid question but anyways. I didn’t see you put in the second bolt but I’m sure it got put in before starting the bike after the first two quarts of oil right? Second stupid question. Does it make any difference if the bike is standing up right or is it better to be on the kick stand?
Hey, thanks for watching and commenting. I'm sorry it's taken so long to get a reply, I've been super busy lately. As for the video, yes definitely put both bolts back in before adding oil. The bike should be on a level surface when checking it, but actually changing it shouldn't matter. I usually prop a 2x4 under the kick stand and it gets me pretty close to level. Just be careful not to hit it and knock it over on that right side of you do that. Hopefully if you haven't already changed the oil, that will help a little. Thanks again for watching. I got a 204 oil filter for mine 2006 1670cc is it based on the type of oil? Like 10w40 vs 20w50
Hey awesome question. You technically could use the 204 filter. They're almost the same, except the 204 is a slightly shorter. However, the 303 also has a built in pressure relief valve. Shouldn't be a problem, but those are the only real differences in the two. Thanks for watching!

I noticed that you remove the drain bolt in the front first then the oil filter ....then to reinstall them before removing the rear oil drain plug is there a reason for this ? can you just remove all 3 or is it to prevent a mess from spilling oil...just have to ask since my warrior did not come with the owners booklet -_-
also I know it calls for 20 40w have you ever tried 20 50w oil in my past air cooled bikes i have ran 2050w ?and seemed to run cooler .....just looking for any tips or ways to help a 13 year old bike keep at its best

Bryan, I have a 1700 Road Star and my owners manual says to use 20-40 w oil but everyone I know uses the 20-50 w oil. Is there a benefit using either one ?
Personally, I use the 20w50. The higher the second number is, the thicker the oil is at temp. Thicker oil will also cause the engine to crank a little slower in the winter time. If you do much winter riding, you may want to go with the 40, but if you're like me and ride in the summer mainly, you'll be fine with either one.

@@RSWarriorBryan Bryan, this is my theory since the oil does not stay in the engine and cycles thru the oil tank that the oil would cool somewhat when out of the engine and that may be why the factory says to use the 40 w so it cools a little better. Not sure that is valid but that keeps running thru my head.
Could be. I also think it has a lot to do with the cold starting. The 40 is going to cycle through faster than the fifty in cold starts and provide lubrication a little quicker than the 50. A lot of the wear and tear on a motor comes from those first few seconds when it hasn't gotten lube run through the motor. That's my little thought process on it all anyways. 🤣 could be completely wrong.
I found the main reason people use 20W-50 instead of 02W-40 is the 20W-50 is on almost all the shelves and you pretty much have to order the 20W-40 and wait

@@RSWarriorBryan Thanks for your answer Bryan! I think that the 10w is great choice becase here is the climate quite cold. Average temp amplitude in summer is 10-25 . Maybe the 40 viscosity is better than 50.

The oil lubricates the clutch still but it has a transfer case that takes separate gear oil.

Hey, thanks for watching! Those are six inch barons drag bars. I would honestly suggest 8 inch, or adding risers though. Mine hit the tank on full cock. They do hit the tank on full cock though, so I always suggest an eight inch rise instead of the six inch that these have. Some short risers would also work help keep them from hitting the tank. Always thought it was the exhaust. On the car they heat up to like 800 degrees I think, that’s just that cooling down.

I'm 6'4 275lb how would this bike fit for long rides
I love the Warrior, but you'll want to do a few things to it if you want to ride long distances. For your height and size, I'd suggest new bars, New forward controls, an aftermarket seat, a windscreen, and probably some type of bags. The stock bars may work out for you, since they have be adjusted back to get you in a comfortable position. The bike has forward controls as it is, but you may need to get some that are even more forward. My father is 6'3 and has no problem with stock, but doesn't ride long distances much. A windscreen would probably be a must as well. Don't worry about it much on short rides, but it can wear on you after you've been riding all day. The stock seat isn't the must comfortable either, but you can shave it down or replace with a Mustang or Corbin that will give a little better ride. Bags are bags, so won't go too far into that. May not be necessary, but always an option. Lastly, I'd look into a 33 tooth front pulley. If you're going to be doing highway speeds for long distances, it'll drop down the rpms by about 300 at 80 mph. They're great bikes and I don't hear of many people that get one and regret it. I'm 5 ft. 10 inch and 165 pounds. The stock setup was a little to big for me. I have a 2005 and the stock seat was a killer on my ass, my knees would catch in the wind so I had to fight with that uncomfortable situation and could not relax, plus my feet always felt like they were vibrating off the pegs. After 50 miles I was done riding and could not justify taking any kind of trip on it. Totally sucked. On top of that I got it used and it had a vance & hines big shot exhaust on it that blasted my eardrums even with earplugs. My solution!!!! I took out the almost non existent baffles and made a baffle inside a baffle. It took awhile , some tubing, drills, a welder, screws but well worth it as I dont need earplugs on short rides and with plugs at cruising speeds the biggest noise is wind thru the helmet as I hardly hear the motor unless I gas it. Next was the foot pegs were replaced with 5 inch mini boards, but a little bigger might have been better but not look as good. Once I got them dialed in by adjusting angle to pull feet in towards engine they were much more comfortable and lost the fall off peg feeling. Next I had the seat reapholstered and more padding added plus back of seat padded enough someone could ride without splitting their ass . This is much more comfy and as a bonus I sit a little higher and forward making reaching the after market bars it came with easier to reach and put a little bend in elbows. it feels like riding a standard bike and as another bonus my knees do not fall away from tank and once again I relax better. I added a medium windshield and now plan on long rides. Also the passenger pegs are for 8 year olds and younger. I made brackets to lower them about 2 and a half inches and along with the padded and higher sitting seat a normal sized person can ride with me. at least for short rides. Kids all day. another bonus is I put on a car tire when my 200 dollar bike tire wore out after 4000 miles. Less than 70 bucks out the door, I mounted it myself and it handles just fine. plus it should last about 30000 or more miles. It definately stops better also. Now I have a great bike, comfy , powerful,and for a cruiser it handles ok.
Why is there a second plug.
Hey Levi, thanks for watching and commenting on the video. The Warrior has a dry sump oil system and the oil is stored in a tank below the seat, so that's why there is a second plug needed. Right I got that.. I watched another video a couple weeks ago, it was very poor at showing where these bolts were, but it did show the same method fill and start the bike then fill again. you did a better job showing where the bolt is. That’s what I thought as well. As soon as it stops snowing, oil is getting changed.
