- So Gamescom just finished and I was very disappointed. Things like a CnC or Delta Force reboot both have amazing potential but it seems like the free to play and mobile gaming trends just ruin everything don't they?
EA gives us Command and Conquer Legions and Tencent gives us Delta Force Hawk Ops...*sigh*. Modern gaming kind of sucks.

Growing up playing command and conquer and halo as a kid to see these franchises just flop makes me want to cry as a grown man 😢
Yeah it is upsetting. Upon seeing the new trailer for Legions I didn't even know what to say for a while.
I'm not mad I'm just dissapointed.
I think for gaming to return to form is we need a another video game crash like 1977, it has to get pretty septic for it all to return to form.
Yeah I agree but sadly there are so many children that don't even know how great gaming used to be as well as straight up fanboys and just very sad people that will defend this crap so I don't think that we'll be seeing a crash anytime soon.

he used to be a gaming designer back in old games like doom, doom 2, hexen: beyond heretic, doom 64 and made his own game Alice until he and the alice fans wanted him to make a third one but EA whipped up some bullcrap excuse to not greenlight the game and now he's retired to never return even if they want to make it with his help @@BrokenCircle1

There are only two games; the first one was good for its time ("American McGee's Alice"), the second is *gold* : "Alice Madness Returns".
It’s truly bizarre just how out of touch the people heading these franchises are. They have a fundamental misunderstanding of what made them good and try to radically alter the games. If they were making spin-offs that have a radically different gameplay approach that manages to still maintain the spirit of a game then that would be fine. But, main title installments/reboots NEED to properly recreate what worked.
One good thing that was announced at Gamescom was the Nightdive Studios remaster of Turok 3 and that Star Wars game (although, the fan Force Engine port already exists so I’m not sure what that second one brings to the table aside from better visuals). Turok 3 is going to include some cut content, minor/subtle upgrades to the visuals, and various small quality of life features/improvements. I definitely NEED to get into Turok. Having dinosaurs, tribals, sci-fi soldiers, and lizard men fighting you with a crazy sandbox looks so fun. I hope they also remaster Turok Evolution with various quality of life improvements. I hight doubt this next one would happen, but a remaster of that Command and Conquer fps you covered or Vivisector Beast Within would be truly phenomenal. There’s so many great old games that are inaccessible to modern systems. Let’s hope that more old games get that treatment.
Speaking of reboots you might’ve heard that rumor about Halo being rebooted. I was wondering what your thoughts on that are. The most likely case is that it would be a dumpster fire because 343 has absolutely no idea what they’re doing.

If you want to play Red Alert 2 on modern systems there are great fan made patches to get it working easily as well as some awsome mods.

I really like just how cool and crazy the premise of Turok is. You have this Native American guy who takes up the mantle of Turok, which is someone who protects earth from various weird threats. The game takes place in this weird dimension thing called The Lost Land, which is this weird place filled with all kinds of strange creatures from across time. It’s based on some comic I never read. It’s one of those games where the weapon arsenal is all over the place with various primitive weapons like a bow and this cool club/axe thing, and a bunch of crazy sci-fi weapons with purposely ridiculous designs. The games look like so much fun. I’m confident I fell in love with the “Lost World” setting because I watched the Peter Jackson King Kong and Land of the Lost (the comedy movie version with Will Feral. That film is so bad it’s good😂) at a young age and was immediately mesmerized by the idea of a weird place filled with prehistoric animals.
That’s good news. I should check that out. It’s definitely a good thing that user generated content in the form of new maps and mods can keep a game alive (just look at classic Doom and Skyrim. Thankfully MCC being on Steam with mod support will keep those games alive).
Good luck on that video. If we got a reboot my ideal reboot would be a mostly faithful CE remake that fixes various issues with the original, includes cut content (animals/enemies, vehicles, and weapons), and uses stuff from the extended lore to better flesh out the game. Then for the next game it would diverge by recreating Halo 2, but includes the cut levels and ending using modern hardware to give us Bungie’s original vision. You’d also have an ODST remake that turns it into a tactical shooter with a fleshed out stealth system, enemy Elites, revamping the lesser Covenant to feel like a credible threat, and other stuff. That’s my ideal reboot that almost certainly will not happen. We’d most likely get a dumpster fire, or at least just something serviceable that doesn’t really hold up to the original (also, for this reboot idea that’s how I would’ve wanted the Halo show to play out if it was made by competent people who wanted to use the alternate universe things for something good that wasn’t a dumpster fire). It will be interesting to see what you have to say about a potential reboot. Good luck on that.
6:45 the Critical Drinker talked about this in one of his videos titled "why modern movies suck: they are too expensive." He goes on to explain how film production has become so expensive that movies need to appeal to the lowest common denominator to really break even, and how it leads to content being dumbed down just bring in more potential profit. While his statement is in regards to the film/TV industry, is it really that much different in the gaming industry? Why does it seem every fps shooter being made today looks like a COD clone with no unique twists or every AAA game having the needing to be live service and doing stupid crossovers promotions for flims, TV, celebrities, etc. Throw it in the blender with the lack of creativity in modern media industry and you get a shake of blandness/sameness.

My first fps was Ghost Recon (1). Hope won't come back in these days.
Delta Force still has a role in gaming (in the way it used to be). The game Six Days in Fallujah shows that people are still interested in "realistic" games set in real modern conflicts. These games may never be mainstream, but they can hold their own with their own community. They only fall off once they start trying to be mainstream i.e Operations Flashpoint and even the orginal Delta series.

Yes we want a remaster, and we also want a new proper C&C, not a mobile game. Plus, C&C was never known to be a mobile franchise. It’s always been a PC Strategy exclusive.

Whats ironic is that as an Armored Core fan who was burned by the crap of eras 4 and 5, it got a revival a DECADE after its crappy forefathers and... Armored Core 6 is actually GREAT. First time I've played a revival game that actually succeeded.
That's good then. I never got into it. I played a demo for 2 maybe on PS2 I think...or maybe a demo for 1? I was really young I don't remember.
I remember 4 but again I was younger and didn't play it much it was my brother's game. What was bad about that one?
@@BrokenCircle1eras 4 and 5 were like Halo 4. They took the basic idea of armored core but then made it all super ugly, ditched all the lore of the past 3 eras, and made every aspect of game play needlessly complicated.

Just checked it out. It looks like a combo of Black Ops 3 and Battlefield. What are these guys thinking ? Black Hawk Down was my first FPS game. I have some fond memories of it. After Angel Falls was dropped I thought this series was done. The TenCent developers looked like they are just reading things off a script during the interview.
I hope EA sinks into the abyss and never rears it's ugly head again.

I also grows up playing Command and Conquer games too(it's anticlimactic closure was one of the reasons I make whatever franchises I use in my massive crossovers can't get too close to official canon when their source materials aren't goood enough)

Chernobylite isn't really an FPS I'm the traditional sense but it's good and I highly recommend checking it out.

That Delta Force game.. is literally a reskin of CoD? Guessing it's the same engine as the recent CoD games but even the weapon animations - hell even the double sprint animation - is straight from CoD

it sucks that remakes have become a substitute for new games. Also, adding slightly updated textures to a game that isn't even 10 years old, and asking $70 for it, is just greedy. There's just too many of them nowadays.
I know! Especially when the remakes of said games often come with horrendous DRM that wasn't there in the first place.
To me it's baffling to see an IP like Delta Force which was always niche at best get revived all of a sudden and was at first interesting. I spent countless hours playing Black Hawk Down in the campaign and map editor. So initially I was excited to see it return from the dead, right up until I saw the trailer and realized it's just going to be another soulless CoD/BF2042 ripoff that's doomed to be DOA. It might as well not exist in terms of the actual franchise, just because you put a sticker on something doesn't mean it's actually that. It being owned by Tencent is just an extra kick in the nuts.
Another game that was pretty is Joint Operations: Typhoon Rising, also done by Novalogic. It definitely intended to capture the battlefield crowd but I had a ton of fun with it.
I loved the Delta Force BHD campaign. Beat it and the Team Sabre expansion on Operator difficulty.

There's some hope: modders these days can do incredible things, and fellow fans have also made their own patches to get the old games running on modern Windows (don't know about Linux/MacOS, never tested with such machines).
Yes hence the modded Tiberian Sun gameplay. There are some amazing mods for these games.
I see an official remaster of Red Alert 2 happening, but not Tiberian Sun. I'm not sure how laws are with freeware, but I know that EA made Tiberian Sun and the Firestorm expansion freeware in an attempt to get people to buy Tiberian Twilight. Obviously it didn't work, so what's the point of EA officially remastering Tiberian Sun and Firestorm if people could just get the originals for free legally from a specific website and download a mod that provides updated graphics and models?

And about the topic Remasters aren't bad in general, but adding the new games to the franchises like C&C, Fallout, Stalker or Delta Force with all these "modern standards" and buisness tricks like monetization based on FOMO, relasing unfinished products with promise they fix it in future, preorders... it's just how things shouldn't be done. Especially that corporations trying to do game for Joe Average not for the fan of the franchise. That's 101 how you kill these franchises.

I understand too well how depressing that must be. Dying Light is now owned by them and Dying Light 2 is currently still being supported. So Ig Dying Light 2 is now doomed.

Shortly after Command and Conquer Legions trailer is released, we have Tempest Rising Dynasty trailer, a new dev talk from Renegade X Firestorm revealing that the OG VA for tib sun agreed to voice in game lines, Global Configuration released demo phase ...... the CnC fans are literally showing EA how to make a proper CnC game.
Too bad Tempest Rising is actually far removed from C&C - lack of classic controls option and a low pop-cap.

Graphically it isn't really that impressive, the lack of enterable buildings is upsetting and when I saw the unit limit I was kind of out.

I have been seeing a lot of hypocrisy surrounding that game. I know people will hate me for saying this but do keep in mind this is from my perspective, from someone who did support it in Early Access about 3 years ago but the studio's constant pushing of Woke is why I refunded.
And no it isn't because of some annoying diversity nameplates or furry animal ear helmets. I don't like those either but I don't think those are anywhere near on the league of Baldur's Gate 3 with their woke. The game is just too woke for me and anti consumer I had to refund it. Just because a game doesn't have microtransactions doesn't make it pro-consumer and non-woke.
But these people will get mad if a attractive woman who is fully clothed and never has any sexual encounters is in a game. But Gay Bear is acceptable with muscular men sliding their genitals on each other.
I don't care if it's a joke. Jokes is how you get people to normalize it because most jokes have a truth it.
There was even an interview where Larian said "She then added that in her experience most fine-tuned characters that players spend hours making look very similar in the end. 'So we wanted to avoid that. And if we would make sliders, we needed to make it into something that would be truly unique and wouldn't look the same.'"
They are deliberately trying to keep people from looking attractive. If everyone only has like a couple of faces and you can't alter it, then everyone is going to look the same BECAUSE THERE IS NO FACE SLIDERS. So most people will just choose the faces that are the least ugly and look exactly the same. There's no femboy options, there's no stunningly attractive female options. They all look like twitter users.
Ever since Game of Thrones came out, games have been on a decline because everyone wants to try and be as "Adult" as Game of Thrones now. Now the new trend is probably going to be genital customization. Cyberpunk had it, and now Baldur's Gate 3 is going full ham with it. 5 Penis Options and 2 Vagina Options and you can give a woman a penis or give a man a vagina. Now before anyone says "it isn't real" they are indeed bodyscanned. Larian said so. So you are really looking at real nude person. If photograph nudes and videos can be considered real then a real body scan of a naked person who is a series of photos mashed together to make a texture file and a high poly mesh is also real.
If you ask for attractive male and female characters in video games you get called a "coomer" and obviously get told to play a "porn" game, but if they are ugly and naked and having sex constantly with bears too, then it's okay apparently. But God forbid having a brown person in a game. That makes people riled up. Brown people. Not Bestiality. Not Genital customization with threesomes and Gay Sex. Brown people.
And yes there really were people telling others "The game's not finished yet. Just wait until the game comes out and you can make the most beautiful waifus and husbandos." But all I got at launch was
-No Face Sliders
-No Body Sliders
-Ugly Head Presets and they didn't even add more. Maybe like one new female head for one race but from looking at the guys there are no changes.
-Horny AF grumpy player sexual party members that always think complimenting them means you want to boink with no indication that's where it's going. (There really was a Steam Forum Thread about this. Even Dragon Age gives you symbols if the choice means boink)
-Pronoun Customization
-Genital Customization. Men have a vagina and women have a penis.
-Gay Bestiality Sex and even Gay Tentacle Man Sex.
-No straight characters and no one who isn't just sexually harassing you. (Even Mass Effect and Dragon Age had straight characters who wasn't into Boinking.)
-Constant Sex and nudity from other NPCs that is not dealing with you. I don't want to see that but the game will force you to look at it.
-Animal Abuse
Baldur's Gate 3 doesn't play anything like Baldur's Gate 1 and 2. It's just Baldur's Gate in name only. It's really a Divinity game but with alot of nudity and sex. Baldur's Gate 1 and 2 were rated T by the way and those games never this graphic.
Now apparently those anti-sjw grifters will complain about "STRONG WAHMEN" but when it's in Baldur's Gate 3 it's okay. Seriously the game is full of them. I guess they can't get mad at Strong Wahmen if there are no women. Only Body Type 1 and 3. Honestly I have no problem about strong women. Halo has had plenty of them from Spartans in the Anime, to the Female Marines in Halo 2 and 3. I didn't even have an issue about Anya and Sam fighting in Gears of War 3. I'd take a strong woman in a video game over Gay Bestiality Bear Sex any day. These same people will get mad at Princess Peach in the Mario movie holding a Halberd she doesn't even use yet they forget that Peach does know how to fight, she's in Smash Brothers and uses Melee weapons all the time, she has an official comic where she uses a Thompson to shoot people, she has her own game on the DS where she saves Mario and Luigi, she was a playable character in Mario 2 and even the Mario RPG, she's been a playable character in most major mario games that's come out recently. She even knows how to fight in the anime. She's not useless.
I don't intend to pre purchase Mario only for the Age Rating to change right before launch then he shows me his mushroom tip in the full game when before the game didn't have that.
Baldur's Gate 3 had this Age Rating for over 4 years and only up until launch did it change. Like you could even watch their release date trailer from earlier this year and it still had the old rating.

So they are quite literally tricking everyone who bought in Early Access because of the Age Rating just so that they can inject all their woke fetishes into the game.
I saw the DND movie and it was fantastic. There was nothing "woke" about it. But people called that movie woke without even watching it. But this game felt like PURE SPITE to me.
I'm not going to play a game because others will tell me it's good. Because if you keep buying stuff that you hate then what's the point of even complaining? You just give them money at that point so that they keep doing the things you hate and take it to more extremes. Now people will bring up mods but mods are fake, the company already has your money and it's not like you are playing the game, just living a lie.
People will scream about brown people and women but they just go along with the gay bear sex and genital customization with pronouns. Seriously what is a bodytype 2 or 4 or even A and B. Every game keeps switching it around. It makes it hard to even remotely buy things for your biological sex in games that have genderlock gear because they refuse to put Male or Female. So you just end up buying the wrong thing.
People were defending Final Fantasy 16 and praising it as non-woke because it had no brown people and they just ignore Bahamut going in for smooches on his boyfriend and all the sex scenes. Those isn't what I play Final Fantasy for. So I didn't even bother getting that game.
I don't care much for CRPGs. I was going to play the game if my Male character was cool. But from all the options at launch I wasn't having any of that. They're ugly and naked. I don't want to play a sex simulator. Sure you there might be a toggle for nudity but it's client side only meaning other random players will still see you naked if they want too. Which is quite creepy. So the game has nothing for me.
So taking over 5 years to develop with over 400 employees and they can't even do Face Sliders but they can add Genital Customization, Gay bestiality, customizable pronouns, and Vitiligo Sliders, this tells me they are being spiteful towards me. You can give a woman a skin disease and a penis, but you can't change her chin, you can't change her arm size or anything else. But this is supposed to be the greatest Character Creation of all time and the most diverse and inclusive system ever yet they don't even have standard features. Even Oblivion has better Customization than this.
It's like Fromsoftware is the only company who's making Fantasy RPGs that are somewhat normal these days.
I'll suffer through gameplay I hate, if I like everything else about game but not when everything else is not for me.
I don't know if you ever checked the Steam Forums for the game but it really does only lean the woke way. People who speak up about the game will constantly get banned and most of their times their threads deleted and posts deleted. So if you speak up about the bear, deleted.
I remember DMC 5 being censored and they added a lensflare when you couldn't even see anything anyways. The models also were just barbie dolls with no features on it. The Abby Sex Scene in TLOU2 is uncensored. Blue Protocol removed Jiggle Physics and Censored outfits. There's absolutely no Nudity in that game yet they censored it. Bear Sex Cool, 5 Penis options cool. Attractive Modest Anime Girl not cool.
Even Majora's Mask is NOW RATED T for Teen. A game with no violence, no bad language, basically no Blood and was Rated E back then. There is a bias against Eastern games now.
Just to make this clear, this isn't directed at you. It's directed at the "Anti-SJW" people who say Baldur's Gate 3 is amazing and never mention it's more woke than anything else out right now but then call literally anything else that's barely woke "woke". If you want to buy the game and play it go ahead. Play what makes you happy. But I'm just glad I was able to take my money away from those developers. I can barely find a normal game these days. Everything wants to just be about Sex and Shipping. I'm sick of it. I'm not going to support a company who goes out of their way to betray my trust.
Most of the things I had an issue with wasn't even in Early Access like the genital customization and what not. People asked for Face Sliders and what they got was different options of sausages. Since I was able to get a refund I'm all good now. I just won't ever buy anything from Larian ever again and Wizards of the Coast for that matter. I'm still excited for the Elden Ring DLC because I can be a femboy in that game and just go on adventures and destroy monsters. But if anything, I just want Halo to be good again. It's not like it used to be when I was younger.

Dude literally shows footage of the 'Nam mod for Tiberian Sun on the topic of Command & Conquer. Also, on the topic of dead franchises, that's why reboots, remasters, and remakes are important. A full on reboot of a franchise, if it has a lot of lore, don't do it. Remasters of popular games, good idea, as long as it doesn't look horrendous. And remakes, if it greatly overhauls the formula (i.e every Pokemon remake made by Game Freak), then it's acceptable.

You have two games that sucked. Quite a few promising announcement too, for example, Ara, Black myth, rogue trader.
With So many games announced there has to be a dozen bad apples.

Spore was the most disappointing game i loved.
It wasn't what was originally advertised but I still love it. Sank probably thousands of hours into it.
