  • Nazish has been stuck inside the same four walls in Karachi for 12 years. She's in Asia's largest asylum, a place not just for mentally ill women, but a dumping ground for Karachi's unwanted, inconvenient women. And their numbers are growing: originally housing just 400 patients, 1700 women are now crammed inside.

    For Pakistan to lift their standard of living, they must treat their women better. Support girls education and teach about female health and relationship conflicts. The parent's education and ability to support a family is critical. Family responsibilities need to be taught to males, so the girls have a chance to be employable. Until these things are planned and implemented the numbers in this place and others will be overflowing with rejected women. So what happens to rejected males?

      Not only that. It is the general mentality of not caring for others. Only your little circle is important , and then only if the other is no bother.
      There is no feeling of solidarity there. So nothing gets build up for the general good. Whereas in large parts of Europe this is excactly what happened over the
      past 2000 years.: Orphanages , old peoples homes , poor peoples shelters , etcetera. Btw ..rejected males can live on their own. The women cannot.
      To the other commentators here : did you not hear what was said ?
      A woman can not leave on her own there . She has to belong to a man !!!
      That is why they can t be released "into the wild ".

      Pakistan has education for women , the only issue here is poverty. Our quality of life and standard of living is directly related to our poverty . In areas where girls don’t go to schools , boys dont either . It’s because they are no good educational institutions in rural areas of Pakistan and most of time , education is so expensive , the lower classes can’t afford it . This is all thanks to our corrupt leadership , do not blame the people of Pakistan.

Pakistanis are obsessed with marriage, staying unmarried is frowned upon and you are considered “useless” if you stay unmarried. I fear our country will doom itself with its own greed. Pakistan means Holy land but nothing about this is holy. Islam’s true message has been lost and the disbelievers have more empathy than us. It hurts me to see a women in poverty and poor conditions, knowing well that there is a woman who looks exactly the same but with actual rights and was born in a country that cares for its people. This is not Islam. This is not human rights. I am so angry and I wish I could do something but I am useless.

    • @seriusE
      @seriusE Місяць тому

      exactly, to better our country the majority must be willing to look at the flaws and find its solutions, that is true love for a nation. Islamic values & universal human rights / ethics must be implemented. I hate when people keep blaming the government when really, change starts from the individual. And please! don't blame yourself! you are not useless, there many ways to start helping even just on community level, volunteering at NGOs does make a huge difference!!

      There are many cultures, where women are nit that free to take own life decisions
      Even in India, doc women who live in diff state or gone abroad to study can be called back n pressured into arranged marriages n dowry and all.
      And if they decide to elope, nobody rents to a woman readily, she has to stay alert constantly, she can be by force taken back, etc.
      Staying out of 4 walla , without some leading forces, away like a roomate with other girls n enjoying life, etc. Is unreachable for many

    This is very typical not only of some Muslim societies but, of a lot South Asian countries also. Sadly, women and girls are not valued the same as boys. Islam teaches that women have rights, the right to marry, or not marry. The right to property, to work, and have a education. Islam also teaches, women and girls, are to be loved and protected. Male and female are equal. But, as we see, time and time again religion fails. Or makes the issues worse. Corrupt Imams and scholars push the abuse of women and girls. Culture, and religion now have become interrelated. Pakistan 🇵🇰 you can do better than this. Muhammad Ali Jinnah is rolling in his grave. I can understand poor families doing this. But, shame on the wealthier ones doing this..

      This is common practice around the world. women and girls are treated like objects. In the western world it's called pimping or polymy . I am surprised these girls are not used for organ transplants. I can't wait for the A.I. replacement. There are so many Young men around the world who want to transgender over to females. Female reproductive organs can transfer to a male. and A. I.microchip can be implanted to a male's brain. And there you have it a perfect woman!!!!

      Islam and deep rooted culture has enabled these abuses. Women are treated like subhumans, no rights and are only born to serve… serve the family until they’re married off and then to serve the husband and his family. Modern day slavery. And in 2024. Then you have other cultures crying for reparations for crimes committed against their ancestors. I feel if that energy was put into abolishing modern slavery, and crimes against women, then that would be a more respectful and fitting way to honour their ancestors.
