they dont want their daughters educated or mixing with other kids because knowledge is power for the girls.it will take time but the cracks are appearing.
lol I laughed at your comment. Just to clarify as someone experienced by dispatch: Police is already underway. They type more info for later investigation and try to keep the caller on the phone in case things happens. In the end the called had already dispatched - the second such call comes in so does the address. That is why the police never are dispatched AFTER the call - they are on their way lol but your comment was funny
When I was 15 there was a family in Bangladesh that desperately wanted me to marry their eldest son who was 12 years older than me coz they wanted me to bring him to london. They wore harassing my parents to take me to Bangladesh and get me married. Nobody asked me if I wanted to get married and I never even met him. 6 months before the wedding I ran away
Forced marriages should be illegal everywhere. Neither women nor men should be forced to be married against their will simply because their families want it, no matter the reason.
WHAT? Yes it is. Unless he is an employer, and even than he is only there to train people to do their jobs and observe how they are doing it, NOT to control any other aspect of their lives.
@@Billybloop womens liberation hasnt caused enough problems for the West. And yes there s something wrong with having power over women. Men and women should have equal power not one over the other. Can we say Neanderthal man!
Arranged/forced marriage should be classified as human trafficking. What's the difference between a pimp or trafficker selling a human being in exchange for money or property?
Arranged marriage, however unusual in our culture, is not immoral in itself. As long as both parties participate voluntarily, are given a chance to "meet their match" and potentially refuse the union, it's not illegal. Problems start, when marriages are arranged without consent, through duplicity or sheer force. And especially, when young people are forced to travel abroad to get married there under a different law, which might severely limit their rights within the marriage and their options to leave.
@@zagrizena It IS Immoral...it is the forcing of someone AGAINST their will! It is an arrestable offence! It is forced rape and beating that go along with it, and death if they try to refuse. That's as immoral as you get. Based on your name, it sounds like it' OK in your culture, but Western civilizations that have to uphold the safety of ALL people have to make laws that may bend other's cultures...big difference. Safety...it's for everyone, despite culture!
@@lisawentworth6831 which culture do you think I come from? 😀 I do agree *forced* marriage is immoral and illegal. Having somebody else *arrange/match* a partner for you to marry, is not, as long as both prospective spouses agree. I'm simply differentiating between a forced (which is always somehow arranged) and an arranged (which doesn't necessarily need to be forced without consent) marriage. Or to put it bluntly: marriage based on romantic infatuation is not the only acceptable and legitimate way of choosing a spouse, even in the west.
@lisawentworth6831 arranged marriage is different from forced marriage. There is a big distinction. Forced is against their will and as the name states "forced". Sometimes arranged is parents AND the proposed couple sitting down and then the couple going on dates and agreeing whether or not they are suited to one another.

How utterly ridiculous you are! Go and re-think your silly notions about a 'costume.'
Roxanna is such a level headed girl, she’s heart broken that her family have disowned her but knows that she’s better off away from them. I really hope she’s doing well in life .
Can we talk about how brave and amazing Sajidaa is for leaving her husband and protecting her children? The amount of courage that needs in any culture is a lot. In this sort of a culture it seems almost impossible. I hope her and her children have a good life and future
I think the worst part for me is the mother's role in all of this. They've been through the same fear, beatings, lack of freedom, and forced impregnation from being married off, so how could they force their daughters to go through that? Kudos to the lady at 41:50 I'm glad she decided to protect her children
RiyaMMX: I think the mothers being in the same situation themselves makes it pretty hard for them to do much. They've been enslaved most of their lives and don't have experience with being able to choose where their lives go. How can they help their daughters with something they know nothing about?
RiyaMMX actually in most forced marriages and honour killings in the West, the mothers are the main perpetrators and the fathers secretly try to keep in touch with daughters if they escaped
Candy Gobbler No, it's pretty equal between mothers and fathers. Fathers aren't magically more progressive than mothers. They're both from the same culture. And men have too much power in Islamic cultures like this so it's unlikely the mother gets much of a choice in what happens

@Dis Broad Allowing the "immigrants"(loosely say immigrants because some of these countries were ruled aka stolen by the british empire (and were viewed as british) some are still part of the common wealth) so its the LEAST the UK can do, considered what this country has historically done to their countries.
I agree, I'm American and love my country but our law enforcement always seems to go straight to intimidation, aggression and force. Yes, it's definitely required in some instances. I do feel they need better sensitivity training in dealing with citizens. However, I have watched plenty of videos where the police in the UK handled suspects rough and disrespectful. It doesn't really make sense to compare street cops handling gang violence, drug crimes etc. and officers investigating complicated domestic situations. It's pretty much oranges to apples.
Rukshana is such a brave woman. The thought of being cut off from everything and everyone you know must’ve been so scary for her and yet she found the courage to leave. Her courage is so admirable.
+Megan Engels Since I'm not a self-deluding moron, I'd refuse to consider such a ridiculous and remote assumption when the obvious suggests otherwise. Thanks though!
+TruthBeTold it's not that remote. it's probably a safer option in her surroundings and It isn't like people living in fear don't make themselves anonymous on many programs.
I am a male victim of this crime but us males are not highlighted. My life was ruined; I was 17 in 1994 when they pretended to take me on a holiday to Pakistan; once there they took away my passport and said to me "you ain't returning until you marry this thing and get her pregnant" . I was in a remote village without money or means of contact. The police ignored me there. I was used as a bridge by my parents and dad's sister to help her daughter to climb in the UK over my happiness. Can you put someone else's happiness over your sons happiness. If I could, I would love for her British citizenship to be revoked and see her returned to Pakistan and banned from coming to the UK. I hate her with passion. The funny things is this documentary totally ignored that it happens to young men. Probably not as much, but it does happen. I am a successful and happy man but this haunts me at times and humiliates me to my core.
Wow, that is true. I have heard and counseled young Asian-Indian men born and raised here (USA) who faced same dilemma. BUT don't hate the girl, she is as much a victim as you are. She must have been brain-washed from young age about marrying you so she is probably hurt and confused why you rejecting her. Have you consummated your marriage yet?
These situations are the most frustrating when the victims don’t call out their parents, especially their abusive fathers. As a person who was brutally injured by my dad, I can tell you that you have to punish them otherwise your siblings and the future generations will suffer similar fates. It’s tough but please try to do the right thing and stay resilient
The thing is, is that it’s not that easy, it’s not a child’s job to punish their parents, teach them that what they’re doing is wrong, in law and especially religious law that it’s extremely wrong, culture likes to twist things to its advantage so these people have been raised to think it’s okay when it isn’t. The kids don’t want their parents put behind bars or whatever bc they’ll have nobody if they do, they sacrifice a lot and they don’t want to make it worse
im soo glad this has now been taken seriously by the law, i remember years ago at school muslim friends as young as 13 being taken on a sudden vacation and never returning back, later hearing they had been married off, usually to older relatives they didnt know, this practice needs to be stamped out there is no place for it in the UK

As someone with a lot of Muslim friends, there were many girls I knew that would tell me about how their parents would threaten them with forced marriages if they didn't do well in school or were hanging out with boys. My friend Nasima was really quiet and secluded. She was part of my circle of friends and wore the most religious clothing out of my Muslim friends. She attended my high school for three years before she just disappeared. None of my friends knew where she wentand she never spoke about her home life so I never expected this to happen. I still wonder today whether she was forced into marriage or if she just moved. These documentaries about forced marriages have really made me reflect on what happened back then and I'm only seeing now just how radically different western and eastern cultures are. I hope the girls in the documentary stay safe and I hope the same for Nasima.
My friend from Afghanistan was force into marriage when she was 15 . Her Iman married them she was still going to high school and nobody knew. These people are sick!!
SDD41 there are many bride killings, a lot of rape culture and disregard for females in Hindi culture. I know, having had Hindi friends and working companions. One young woman was badly mistreated by her in-laws and husband and had to flee from them without letting us know. I was her boss. She left me a message and I totally understood. Later, she contacted me and I was so glad to see she had a happy and much better life. Right here in the US. And 2 boys who worked for me had arranged marriages. I doubt they worked well, as they grew up watching their dad physically and emotionally abuse their mom. Both mom and dad worked for us, and I wish I could have beat him senseless. But, I was a 4’10” female in my 50’s, so no go. This crap makes me so angry.
This has got nothing to do with being Muslim and Islam, but everything to do with culture. Forced marriages are strictly prohibited in Islam but people choose to follow what they wish and this is the sad part.
This is so sad. Here we are in the year 2017, and so many men are still acting like spoiled little brats, treating their wives and daughters like possessions.
When it was my time for marriage I found my own wife and got married and still married 25 yrs later and very happy , she’s not Muslim and I never forced her to become Muslim , she’s educated and very respectable lady and she respects my beliefs where as I respect her beliefs. Marry who you want to marry , it’s you two who will spend the time together and just be happy life is too short for anything else .
Forced Marriage = Trafficking your own children. These "parents" are awful people. My incubator did the same thing to me. Fast forward 30 years and she can't seem to figure out why I want nothing to do with her. The narcissist is always the perpetual victim. While the survivor knows better. 😑 The US could sure use a force like this.
In the words of Philip defranco, if they're gonna implement this outdated ideas, they should be forced to live in the same conditions as those in the past who believed this was normal.

Also, the British built much of the Infrastructure in India where there was NONE . The British turned the reins over to India in 1947 , yet after 70 years of self rule , India still remains an Imoverished drveloping Nation. Look at Germany and Japan . They were devesated and lay in ruins after WW2, and yet surpassed India by the Early 60s. India has a much larger advantage than a Germany. Geoghraphically , and by Size . That saddest thing I ever saw growing up in the 80s was a family friend daughter that was a successful lawyer being forced arranged marriage, he was only daughter and sister to 8 brothers.her life became dark and dim she had 7 children with a man that was horrible wasn't good too her but it was all sake of honor heartbreaking to see her walk the streets with mental health issues as bad as they had to section her many times. This was a beautiful intelligent lawyer that had no voice against her family
I'm of an Afghan background and I've heard stories like this one too many times. I don't understand why as parents you would move half way across the world for a better life for you and your family... but retain your backward mindset and what's worse, drill backward beliefs such as forced marriage into your children's heads too. I understand why this shit goes on back home in Pakistan for example. You're surrounded by your family, you live in the same unit and are physically bound by your culture. It doesn't make it anymore okay but it makes it easier to comprehend. However the whole point of coming to the UK is to move forward, give your children, the future generation, a chance at education and success. It's beyond me why you would pull them back into the god damn dark ages and chain them there? It's appalling, cruel and what's worse is that these people, they think that what they're doing makes them better Muslims. It shouldn't come as a surprise that forced marriage is sinful in Islam and in actual fact, is illegitimate. Any sexual activity that occurs during the 'marriage' is seen as fornication. So instead of strengthening your faith lol you've actually bought yourself a ticket to hell. Rightly so.

This reminds me of when I was in highschool. There was a girl in my science class that was from the middle east. She migrated with her family years beforehand. We had a new male student who had only been in the states for about three months. One day he stood up in the middle of class and pointed at the girl yelling at her in his native language. We were all wind eyed and confused. Then he threw a rolled up paper at her and yelled "COVER YOURSELF! YOU SHAME!" My teacher briskly walked over to him and smacked him with her teaching binder. Yelling back at him "You're not at home! She can have her hair like that if she wants. Sit down and shut up before I make you!" Apparently she spoke the language. XD Coolest teacher I've ever had. -I want to add I'm from a CA town that had a lot of immigrants from the middle east & west asia and that is the only time I've witnessed wild or rude behavior.
and here we 3 years later and if this happened now, the teacher would be forcibly removed from the school premises by authorities in the middle of a class at gun point (with media being tipped off and waiting outside with cameras), fired, pension terminated, prosecuted and jailed for hate speech, racism, child endangerment, assuming gender pronouns, et el...then deported after serving out their sentence (if applicable)
This also happened to me I am not from UK I am from Pakistan .Past year my father(who always tormented me and treated me as a liability) forced me (basically I was physically abused, beaten up )I had no choice but to obey his order although its legally a crime and this marriage is invalid in islam but he is a Muslim of convience .I got married with a heavy heart but his choice my ex husband was also very abusive and had immoral affairs .I prayed to Allah and he gave me strength to walk away and escape from that abusive marriage and I am now divorced and trying to make my life better.I am just 22 and went through the trauma . This is a big problem in Pakistan every other marriage is either emotionally and physically forced upon young generation by elders mostly fathers and sadly this regressive mentality British Pakistanis take with them into liberal societies .
@Cobidbeksin islam literally forbids forced marriages, so it IS the answer lol, but many countries don't want to apply sharia so they end up dealing with the problems themeselves

Appalling that a man's and other family members' sense of honour is totally dependent on their daughters' and sisters' submission to their wills, so they can be raped by strangers. And that that "honour" is above all natural protection of these girls and young women; better to threaten, abuse and even murder their children rather than let them be free to decide for themselves and "shame" the family. There is nothing honourable whatsoever in this mindset. This is evil abuse. Sick.
This reminds me of banaz, a young lady who was murdered for finding love. I'm glad that there are new laws to try and prevent more assaults and deaths.
Yes! That was absolutely heartbreaking. Her father is a monster. Letting those men hurt and assault her before they killed her is the absolute worst. She was so beautiful and did everything she could. Her family should never see the light of day again.

Too many. For sure. Let's be honest about human social structures. Nothing is simply black and white....there are always gray areas. Like the cast system in India...it's illegal but still comes into play. Or the class system in England....very much a part of British life today, despite all the laws in the UK. Humans will ALWAYS take advantage of religious and cultural practice unless they are stopped by law. And the laws must be enforced. That's part of the reason for the very existence culture and religion...To CREATE hierarchies in order to CONTROL. There are many positive aspects of Pakistani culture...or any culture. BUT...patriarchy or male social preference, DOES do damage in almost every country.....NOT just Muslim countries. It's been a long struggle for groups of people to achieve equality under law where their persecution has become enshrined by religion and culture. But, once there are laws protecting people, often it's hit or miss. And PLEASE...please let's not say that men don't also suffer from domestic abuse or cohesive control It's like saying people of color can't be racist...to say that women can't abuse their partners. Look at the example of "TJ" in this series...."TJ" is a woman.....and was busy abusing another woman.

The man said “I can never hit my daughter. You can hit your wife and sons, but not the daughter…” and the he told the police about the incident with his daughter: “I told her I don’t hit you THIS time” which clearly indicates that he has hit her before and most likely hit her also during this incident….
There is no honour in forcing or threating your child to marry someone they dont want .These people dont even understand yet alone know what true honour is .
"Because I told her, Listen I'm not hitting you this TIME" 7:32 The father said this TIME which means it has happened before!! How did they not pick this up?!?! That's basically a confession!
An abuser will always deny, deny, deny. "I won't hit my daughter, I will hit my wife and sons".. hmm.. would have questioned that from the get go. He laughs about what the daughter accuses him of. He's guilty. I lived a similar life.
I was married to a man who've I had a 5 min conversation with and that was it. Meeting him, engagement, and wedding all in 3 weeks. My father called it "an arranged marriage" But my father had to pick and approve. I was a teenager, very abusive for 11 years.
I had a friend who had an arranged marriage since he was 4 and she was 3. He said that growing up being told this will be your wife was weird. Every time they would meat and hang out, they both felt like they had to get along because they had to spend all there lives together. They never really liked each other, but they didn't hate each other. To them that was enough. When he left home the marriage was called off. He never dated any other girl, he said it'd feel like he was cheating. So he was kind of lost when it came to dating, he hadn't even thought of it before.
I married someone who my father.hated. But my mother, who was very wise, told him that supporting me when we disagreed was more important than his dislike of my husband. It turned, out many years, later that my Dad was right but because he helped me then, I knew that I could depend on him always! I am so thankful that I had great parents

In the sense that there are women (or womyn) who continue to fight against the world for the most basic human rights (rights that we. globally as men, take for granted), this program has been an inspiration and a blessing to me. @Victoria Adeyemi Victoria, it is also VERY cultural. These people are from small peasant villages in Pakistan where it is traditional to marry your first cousins to keep land and wealth in the family.
I do agree *forced* marriage is immoral and illegal.

I was in a remote village without money or means of contact. The police ignored me there.

They want Western Money , but not the Laws that go with it . LOL!!
@Scott Lawson ...What did the West Steal ? Please enlighten me .
@Scott Lawson ...From what I see from the liks you sent me , not much was "Stolen " besides Various Trinkets . The British have largely returned items taken from India. Also, the British built much of the Infrastructure in India where there was NONE . Highways , Railroads etc. SUre much of the Lanour used was Indian, but the British used plenty of their own resources .
Tell me .
I was born in India , but raised in the West, and I can tell you that it is the Indian mindset that has prevented India from becoming a First World Developed Nation with a Robyst Economy. Ramapnt Corruption and Fraud , lack of Empathy or compassion is the Indian mindset .

Wow. That’s sad.
Just wickedness
I hope she is better now and managed to get out the marriage. That sounds awful
may allah set give her shifa
Rightly so.
Fatima Naimi on point 👌👌 these people and this whole forced marriage thing goes completely against Islam. So does the so called "honor killings" and the likes. This is Pakistani/south asian culture. Not Islam.
Fatima Naimi well said ! I couldn't agree more
@Dark Horse Before you open your mouth fool go back a few centuries in history. Islamic rule in India ravaged pillaged and put Indians in bondage. Many of the dark practicies you see in India today was introduced by the Mogul rulers then the British bastards. India was a well-advanced society during Ashoka, Gupta, and other dynasties. You can gleen some knowledge from here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_India (altough not 100percent accurate it gives pretty good idea how advanced the Indian civilization was until INVADERS came to that country and bastardized everything.

I am impressed with the UK'S action setting up units like these and training the staff to be empathetic, non judgemental and understanding of these cultural practices that sadly exist. Love to see Jasvinder campaigning and bringing awareness, what amazing work you do!
It's all come from the woman campaigning I saw her nearly 20 years ago and she was raising awareness, I think she also wrote a book about her own experience. She's amazing especially as the law changes are recent. She educates teachers as girls were going missing from school and back then it was just ignored so she's done an amazing job.

I don't know which city in CA but it's the best tale I've heard and needless to say CA is no longer what this state used to be.
Wow your teacher seems so cool. I really hope that she didn’t get in trouble because I would have done the same.
Yeah this story definitely happened.
Yessss
and here we 3 years later and if this happened now, the teacher would be forcibly removed from the school premises by authorities in the middle of a class at gun point (with media being tipped off and waiting outside with cameras), fired, pension terminated, prosecuted and jailed for hate speech, racism, child endangerment, assuming gender pronouns, et el...then deported after serving out their sentence (if applicable)
I'm so sorry but glad you got out
I am praying for you to continue your road to recovery and self love.❤

I disagree on it his or the woman fault on what gender is the baby. No one can control what nature prepares for us. The kid is ether a boy or a girl. No one whows what child they get or the world would be a perfect place and i know the world isnt perfect dut to wars and natural disater that comes out way. Sick.

He had be coerced by the family to kill her. He was the youngest, most expendable member of the family. He was just as much a victim as his sister. He just said as we put him in the cell. Too many.
BUT...patriarchy or male social preference,
DOES do damage in almost every country.....NOT just Muslim countries.
It's been a long struggle for groups of people to achieve equality under law where their persecution has become enshrined by religion and culture.
But, once there are laws protecting people, often it's hit or miss.
And PLEASE...please let's not say that men don't also suffer from domestic abuse or cohesive control
It's like saying people of color can't be racist...to say that women can't abuse their partners.
Look at the example of "TJ" in this series...."TJ" is a woman.....and was busy abusing another woman.
In all those countries that do forced marriages
That woman was a true mother. She stood up for her daughters
It's against the law in Germany as well..Good Job England..

Really sick must be tradition and the parents who's whole purpose in life is to make their own childrens' life pure hell. Black mailing, threatening, isolating, forcing them to marry a person they dont want to...possibly even abusive one. Sick.
Soul full ys it is.. try living life like this ..
they do this in every country even usa.. I know 1st hand
try coming from political family it's so much worse and then gets worse and worse bc then they do things to women over kids even police fire emt family's do this. is god awful the abuse. I have endured it myself
Aimee A get out, if you're being abused just get out. It don't matter what your family want and what they want, you matter. Pack your bags when no one is watching and leave, there's organisations and such all over that help people like you in your situation. If it's a problem with someone that has influence, get out of their sphere or influence go far away from there.
Soul full
I married the man of my dreams...how can you force a person to get married....for the rest of your life will be he'll...I don't understand why parents do this to their own children..don't they want them to be happy and to be loved...When will this end..I'm greatful that I'm not apart of this culture but I'm Muslim the difference is my parents wanted me to be happy..That's all that really matters in the end...
I'm Muslim but very liberal, from a different type of culture, more western, and I just can't imagine this kind of life these girls live in, the house and parents they are living with is abhorrent, can't imagine not being able to trust your own parents to be there for you unconditionally, its so sad.
You are very lucky. The situation these girls are in, is as you said, really sad.
Karen Lal liberal like how? drink and showing skin etc??
as a man who has been through this disgusting cultural practice, i can tell you from experience that the home life is extremely abhorrent, difficult and remains hard to get through day by day. my own parents and even some siblings totally killed my confidence and i now suffer from depression and anxiety, and due to this cannot continue with university and am unable to make friends.
Amjid Khan That's sad.
You have too much negative energy built up from family.
Find a meditation off You Tube, it works. 🇨🇦
This is the Dajjal because the Government dont care about these girls!!! A girl with out family is weak!.
“Has it ever struck you that life is all memory, except for the one present moment that goes by you so quick you hardly catch it going?”― Tennessee Williams...
Amazing UK police, empathetic, direct and compassionate.
Boy. Keep your freaking hands to yourself, don't touch anybody. Gosh I hate the abuse culture.
I wish these abusers would be jailed and then instantly deported
Jennifer Alexander
I wish so too.
It's better to not let them in at all
as much as i agree, it could have adverse effects on the kids too. its a cultural thing, so it needs to be addressed in a more tactful and education related way.
"We can hit our wives and sons but not our daughters". Truly unimaginable. That level of accepted violence is a horrible way to live.
I'll never understand why any culture gives males this permission and sometimes even encouragement. 😢😡
Verse 4:34 of the Koran says that if a wife does not obey her husband, it is ok for him to beat her. The Koran makes women property. Islam is misogynistic.
