Our 5 FAVORITE KITCHEN GADGETS!

  • Ah, kitchen gadgets. When I first went plant-based, I had an oven, a stove, and a microwave. As I didn’t really know how to cook, I found the microwave quite helpful as I could quickly cook potatoes in the event of an “emergency.” Soon though, I started adding some fancier gadget investments to my arsenal. Now that I live with Dillon, the number of gadgets we have has simply gotten out of hand (almost, but not really, since we do use them all). Here are our TOP 5 favorites, and why we love them. And maybe even some bonuses?

Hello Dillon and Reebs, This is Tom -- my corn chips made from corn tortillas (no salt, no oil) that I make in our Breville definitely turn into shards on the pointy end when I air fry them in our Breville. I have lanced the roof of my mouth more that once. Respect the chip!

    Hey guys !!!
I just joined up on your membership last night. I’m only 6 weeks into my new and glorious WFPB lifestyle.
(no SOS) I’m absolutely alone in this and still have to cook the “SAD” for the rest of my crew☹️ but I have lost 17 lbs. already.
I’ve ordered many of your AWESOME products and I absolutely LOVE to watch your videos. Thank you Dill and Reebs !!! Just purchased a hot air popper and I think if you create a popcorn seasoning it would be wildly popular.
You two are so inspiring. I can barely imagine how hard you both work to not only create and produce your wonderful products but to provide these videos that are literally life changing for so many people. Thanks for being you.
    Y’all make me smile!

Me too. Vitamix all the way. I have the counter height 64 oz, 48 oz, 32 oz, and 20 oz containers for it. I also got their new Immersion Blender. Yes, expensive but still less than the combined $$ I've spent on cheaper ones that have all burned up or crapped out on me. Now if they'd just make a deluxe food processor attachment for my model because I'm not buying another base for the one that they did make.

I have two 6qt ipots. I’m often making a double batch of whatever the nights meal. One pot for dinner and one pot for freezing! Also I can change out the pots and when after years of intense use my ipot goes caput I keep the pot so I can just pull out and interchange pots. This only works if you buy the same model instant pots.

My fave gadgets are pressured rice cooker where i cook most of my grains & potatoes and 2 blenders (nutribullet & vitamix). I too blend to get all my green in. I always jam my blender w/ kale, bokchoy, cucumber, microgreens w/ some frozen berries or 1 banana. No water necessary coz cucumber give lots of water.

Unsure if this would be considered a "gadget", but I recommend a Berkey water filter. We got ours a few months ago and I won't got back. All non-Berkey water has been ruined for me. So fresh and so clean.
Also recommend an electric tea kettle with temperature control. Allows me to brew tea to the perfect temperature no matter what kind of tea.

I have 3 instant pots 😀 and use them every Sunday for meal prep. My 8qt is for soups. The other two 6qt I use to make beans, baked potatoes, and rice. My red vitamix I've had since 2010 and still use it daily. Makes the best kale smoothies and oil free hummus. 💖

FINALLY!!! Thank you Dillon for your point of view on juicing and smoothies, I totally agree!!! I know the reasoning behind the plant based doctors who don't recommend them, but I feel they are doing a disservice to the WFPB community. Green, greens, and more greens BUT if you don't love salad it is a great way to incorporate nutrients through juicing or smoothies. And again they all recommend soup...which is just a hot smoothie as far as I'm concerned, LOL.

I have a slow cooker that I can put a few items in and start and forget about it for a while. No need to worry about any building up of pressure and releasing pressure. It has high for quicker cooking and low for longer cooking times. I have two food processors. One big one for regular size processing and grinding, and a mini one which is just perfect for small jobs. Just recently I was given as a gift of a "Magic Bullet". So far, we have only made some smoothies from it for the entire family. It will be perfect for making cheese sauces, sour cream and hopefully, maybe, some cream cheese. It also looks like it could also be used for grinding up nuts. I also have a coffee grinder that has been used for grinding coffee and grinding nuts.

I think I got mine in "97. Also still works great. It came with 2 containers, wet and dry. I recently won an immersion blender and have been using it to make creamy smooth "banana freeze" (aka non-dairy ice cream). My 2-year-old grandsons couldn't get enough! I drizzle it with cinnamon pear or maple balsamic vinegar for a different flavour, yummy! (No vinegar for the boys this time.)

I think the issue with the juicing is also that the food should be mixed with saliva for proper digestion and absorption. So food should be chewed. Soup tends to be taken much more slowly. You could take the smoothie slowly but that is just what you don’t want. Someone told me that they add oats to the smoothie after making it, so they would chew it…

I totally agree! The electric griddle is the best pancake maker EVER! I also rarely use my oven. I use my air fryer and toaster oven instead. I went straight for the Vitamix like you suggested. I ordered the Breville sous chef slice and dice yesterday after it was back in stock. I get so tired of doing prep work by knife and cutting board. It takes up too much of my time. It was a big purchase, gulp, but I look forward to learning how to use it for my prepping. I hope it helps the WFPB eating remain as my lifestyle because knife fatigue has set in. I have been eyeing a griddle too. Thanks for the video.

Whole plant food no sos. It's the way to go. Nice review, but I've reverted back to a knife, a cutting board, and my stove. Love the chopped salad, with the pico... it works with everything. I do have a vitamix, but don't use it often, anymore. Gave away the juicer, and sent back the I pot. I think if I had a lit of people to cook for, I might change my mind, but for now, I just eat an apple, and frankly, it's more satisfying for me. The one thing I might like to have is a food processor, but not in the budget, for now. Besides, I don't have space right now. Nice to see you both so happy, and full of energy.

Found best place to buy Vitamix is QVC. They have great sales & often have monthly payment options with no interest fees. If you're not sure if you're going to use often they have 30 day return policy where you just pay shipping. I think of that as my "rental fee" if I didn't like something.

Vitamix customer support is truly amazing. Well worth it to buy one with a 7 or 10 year warranty. We use ours several times a day. Having one need repair at 6 years old and millions of hours is just a quick phone call to arrange repair. Unit comes back basically refurbished and ready for another long run of service. Its almost annoying when they come out with a new model. My old ones still work perfect so no reason to upgrade. Most appliances are designed to be replaced when they fail. Not a Vitamix.

I bought my Vitamix four months into my vegan journey and now it's 12 years old. I've broken two things myself and had the parts replaced free of charge. Amazing customer service.

I 💪 agree with Reebs the Vitamix is numero 1. My original from early 80s I gave to a friend w/2 growing boys & it’s still going 💪. I did it to buy a newer model that would work with the adapter for the travel cup. Go Reebs🥬🥒🥕

Vitamix ✅ Have a refurbished one for over 5 years and it works great and I use it soooo much.
Only had to replace the container but it was covered under warranty. For those who don’t know, vitamix will replace the base of the vitamix for life, should something happen to it.
Air fryer ✅ my family uses this just about a everyday, several times a day sometimes.
Air popper ✅ another great gadget I love. BBQ seasoning maybe? 🤤
    Food processor ✅
Juicer - burned it out so need a new one❌
Instapot ❌ (no space but kinda want one. Wanna donate one to me?🙃)
Griddle ❌ (just use my pans😔)
Soda stream❌(I only drink water and plain seltzer so I need this in my life😔)
    Great video guys!

Love your videos but can’t do nonstick after watching the documentary “The Devil we know” (I believe that was it). I got rid of every nonstick thing I have. I have just made it work with stainless and cast iron.

The customer service for a Vitamix is unbelievable. I had a random thing happen that was not my fault and they replaced it. I did another thing with it that was my fault, I admitted it to the nice person on the phone, and they still replaced it! Two replacements on the simplest most basic model. Crazy good customer service.
The Vitamix and the Instant Pot are my all time favorite small appliances. I’m fighting the urge to get an air fryer because at this point I can’t miss what I don’t know? 🤪

???? What a great idea to cook 10 lb of potatoes at the same time! How many minutes does it take for your potatoes the way you do it?

I love my Hamilton Beach food processor, and I have a number of pressure cooker so I don't need the instant pot. I long for a vitamix. Yeah for thrift stores. Without them I would have much less important things.

I got my 8 qt. InstaPot with a removable strainer so that when I make my homemade veggie broth I just put all the veggies in the strainer and when it's done I just lift it out. No need to strain it afterwards. Great time, and arm saver. I have always wanted to get a Soda Stream but didn't know which one to get. Which one do you have?
