My salad spinner has been an invaluable tool; I especially love salad the day after spinning, as it is crisp and cold! Found it for $2 at thrift store and also found an older model food processor for $3.

I would testify that the air fryer is ESSENTIAL! I have one back home, but I didn't buy one for college because I was concerned that I wouldn't have the space. I regret that decision. 😫 The air fryer saves you SO MUCH TIME. I roast veggies in it for 12 minutes, sweet potato fries also take only 12 minutes, and there is no waiting around for it to pre-heat! Especially with being in college I'm missing the convenience of my air fryer, since I'm always crunched for time.😔
I just moved cross country from Northern CA to Charlotte and got rid of some of my old kitchen stuff, I needed some new things so this video came in handy. I just got the dutch oven, wooden spoons, stainless steel pot, baking sheets and cutting board! I'm making a pot of vegan chili in the dutch oven today.
I love your channel as I am newly starting my plant based vegan lifestyle. I just made your vegan black eye pea gumbo and it was delicious. I ordered your cookbook and I’m loving it.
Awesome video! 💚 I am surprized nobody mentioned the Nicer Dicer yet. I use mine regularly, especially the attachment for small cubes. Perfect for veggie-based sauces (like Bolognese or for lasagna) or chopped salads. Especially great for cutting large amounts of onions. We all know how painful that can get! Also, I have the blender food processor combo by Ninja and it is amazing! And it comes with the grating and slicing discs which I regularly use for carrots. Just get a kilo or two, slice some, shred the rest and put in the fridge to use during the week. It lasts long and you can have it raw in salads, make fritters or put it in Falafel or even make carrot cake (or anything with carrot cake flavoring, really). And it is strong enough to make nut butters (besides hazelnut) but much more affordable than CuisineArt or Vitamix. A rice cooker is also great and much more affordable than an Instapot. You can make full meals in it (just google) or cook rice, grains and lentils. Lifesaver for when I don't feel like cooking. Just add lentils, maybe a can of chickpeas, water and curry or your favorite spices. Let cook and after it is finished, stir in a can of coconut milk. Instant curry. Oh, and also an absolute essential would be a mixing bowl in my eyes! (Maybe I missed it and you recommended it?) Ok, that was enough from my side since propably noone will read this anyways. But if you read this, I wish you a wonderful day! 💚
Hey, if you haven't already, check out Ellen Fisher and/or simnett nutrition. Both are very unpreachy whole food vegans, just as sweetpotatosoul :). All the best!
Thank you. I always wanted to know how to store all of my utensils and pots and pans and tupperware... in my kitchen. Like how to design your kitchen where you have your seasonings and food processors in places of convenience so I do not have to dig for so much that I use a lot.
The food processor will come in handy for the baby! I loved chopping, boiling, and pureeing stuff for my daughter. So much cheaper and more natural than store-bought (but keeping a few jars on hand isn't bad either) 😉
I really like some of your vegan kitchen tools. Can you also share your vegan dishware? I see a bowl in your videos which looks very nice and vegan friendly. Thank you
Great video. Just bought the Kitchenaid High Performance Blender from QVC on sale AND Easy Pay..$53/m for 6 months. It's a great investment, I love it.
I appreciate your help with the items that you use the only thing I would say about the cast-iron pan is you have to be careful with that because it does have iron you need to look into that because it can cause deficiencies or too much iron in the body that can leach from that pan ...love your videos bless you
This came at such a good time! My roommate is moving out (:( ) and taking her cookware with her, so this really helped me make a list of things that I'm going to need soon
Totally agree with your recommendations. When I travel to parent's (they are a few hours away), I always take my essentials with me. Some things they have and some things I prefer my own (blender, non-stick skillet, food processor). They are not vegan but my mom is when I'm in town as she eats everything I cook 😃.
Dr. Neal Barnard said that the iron of of cast iron pans get into the food and can oxidate in the body. Since hearing that, I got rid of my pan because when you clean it, you notice that it gets a bit rusty even if you take care of it with oil etc..
Air fryer. Don’t have to turn on the oven to cook pizza, toasted sandwiches, nachos, roasted veggies. Works great for fries of course. Made some really good sweet potato chips in it too. Haven’t tried it yet, but I’m sure cauliflower wings would work as well.
I dreamed someone would make a video like this one! I watch so many vegetarian/vegan cooking videos and I'm always at a loss when it comes to trying out the recipes. I never have all the same tools at home and I don't know which ones are "essentials" or not
I loved this video soooo much!! I decided it would be fun to see how many of your essentials I owned. All of them!!! Plus, a few of the non- essential essentials! Clearly I have no excuse not to cook more! Great idea about using the mesh sieve thingy for citrus squeezing! Never thought of that! Inserting demos with your list was awesome. This video gave me the energy to go cook something and check out that KitchenAid blender! She's prettier than my Vitamix. 🤣🤣😁 #appliancejunkie
Thank you!! You've got it all 😀 I forgot to mention waffle iron, but I have 2, and LOVE them so much. And yes, I think the KitchenAid is prettier than the Vitamix!!
Be careful buying used appliances unless it comes from someone you know or from the manufacturer. I say that because I am a crafter and know a lot of people who use appliances for craft blends....and I don't think that you would want to put food in them after that. They blend paints, glues, paper pulps. I have kitchen tools in my craftroom just for my crafts. Just saying....be careful.
I am so glad you did this video, because I’m binge watching your videos thinking “I should probably get a food processor,” as you used it for every recipe in the last episode I watched. I would like to propose some alternatives I already have. If you could let me know if they’re good alternatives, that’d be great. Here are the alternatives I’m thinking about: Instant pot - crock pot Dutch oven - pot inside of crock pot (not sure if it could be put on direct fire) Steam basket - colander on top of pot with top on (think double boiler) Blender - nutribullet Cast iron skillet - sauté pan (not sure what makes the cast iron magical lol)
You look so incredibly beautiful! Thanks for these fantastic recommendations ❤️ I wanna give you back a cool music recommendation for chill out autumn days: Benedict Ammann - The Rules I love the song so much and I hope you will too ❤️
Love your channel! I'm with you on the cast iron skillet. If I had to choose only one pan, it would be that (but then I'd have to choose which one from my collection that I'd keep, and that seems impossible to me... I even have a cast iron pizza stone!). However, cast iron doesn't work well with tomato-y or acidic sauce dishes (like, pomodoro sauce). You can't boil in them, either, because the water (grains) turns black. So, yeah, that multi-quart sauce pot is the perfect other necessary piece. One thing I might add to your cookware list is a good quality non-stick pan, especially, for anyone trying to cut down on oil. I can just "fry" things up so quickly with no oil, and clean-up is a breeze!
First of all, can we talk about your beautiful earrings?? Please link those!!! Awesome video...definitely getting the silicone mat and the salad spinner....I need a new can opener even though mine is broken I still use it #nostalgia I have mostly everything else you mentioned!!!
