Frozen foods are a lifesaver when it comes to saving time in the kitchen especially when you follow a whole food plant based lifestyle. Having chopped veggies and fruits at the ready in your freezer makes it so that we can enjoy “fast food” again. Sure we like to cook from scratch sometimes and enjoy fresh produce, but nothing can beat throwing a few bags of fresh veggies into a pot (or Instant Pot!) with some cans of beans, tomatoes, and spices and calling it a meal. Without further ado.. Here’s our list of 5 (actually, 10!) frozen foods we ALWAYS keep in our freezer, including a free PDF download of our pantry and freezer essentials!

I have found that if you buy bagged organic baby spinach and put it in the freezer, you will have frozen spinach with a much nicer texture than the pre-frozen spinach. If you prefer it cut up rather than whole leaves, after it is frozen, you can just crunch it up in the bag. =^..^=

I do same with the bagged fresh chopped kale. Reduces length of time to cook. Adds a bit of dark leafy green without having to remember to buy and prep.

Frozen chopped kale- I throw it into everything including smoothies. Frozen cut green beans, butternut squash cubes, and baby Brussels sprouts; things I eat almost every day. I would almost never eat squash otherwise. Even though I love it, it's a preparation deal. Also bags of mixed broccoli and cauliflower. I keep frozen pineapple chunks, strawberries, and mango for snacking on instead of sweets or ice cream and also to add to oatmeal instead of sugar or other sweeteners.

With frozen berries: Take some old fashion oats, add hemp seeds, cinnamon and unsweetened applesauce and mix together. Top with kale that is torn up into bite size, then top with the berries. Add enough plant milk to cover the oat mixture and put into microwave for about two to three minutes, depending on how long it takes to thaw out the berries in the microwave. Sometimes I have added some sugar fee and oil free chocolate chips to the oat mixture and have had a yummy chocolate breakfast. I found those chips at Trader Joe's. :)

I love riced cauliflower because I can make my plant based "ground meat". One bag frozen riced cauliflower, !/@ container of mushrooms that you can rice or finely chop in the food processor, and a couple of handfuls of walnuts that have been ground. Mix it up and place on a parchment lined baking pan. Put in a 350 degree oven for twenty minutes, stir and put in for another twenty minutes. Remove from oven and let cool stirring occasionally. I then divide it up into portion sizes for me and ziplock them and place in the freezer for future uses. When ready to use is when I add any spices and seasonings I want for the dish it will go into. Great for tacos, burritos, chili, and anything where a ground meat would be used. Just completely plant based version.

I know that kale can be frozen, too. I saw it at Walmart and I will be getting some kale, either fresh or frozen, because my Dad had a kidney stone and I was eating spinach that has calcium oxalate, which is suspected of contributing to risk of kidney stones. So it's the latest switch in my diet which is otherwise pretty good. I will check out the frozen foods after I'm done with the weight loss which I have 1.2 pounds to go and will be closer to abdomen definition, which I'm doing for vanity, of course. I never had the chance to get there on standard American diet weight loss because it was too hard to get that low (for me). WFPB all the way! I figure waist size needs to be 29.5" and right now the thinnest part is 30" and the belly is 31.75". So I have work to do, folks!

I gather wild asparagus around my area, I fill a small huh with water and after filling a zip lock baggie I put it in the water with just a finger width open that don't get dunked in the water, it displaces the air in the bag and if closed properly it become vacuum packed.

Hello I just thought while u guys are talking about frozen veggies etc.
When we get take out from Chinese food we get it streamed and add our own seasoning to the brown rice.
One place streams the rice which is so good.
Sometimes I will add cauliflower rice instead of regular rice, don't eat unless organic because of the arnesen in especially white.
Thank for the tips always helpful.

Hey, recently discovered your channel, loving it so far! When you freeze nuts and seeds how do they turn out when thawed? Can I just stick them back in a jar and pretend the freezing never happened? I generally buy in bulk to save too.

My Walmart stinks, does not carry the frozen chopped peppers and onions. Neither does my supermarket. Such a simple thing, why?
