Happy Birthday Bruce Hornsby born on November 23, 1954. He is an American singer-songwriter and pianist. His music draws from folk rock, jazz, bluegrass, folk, Southern rock, country rock, jam band, rock, heartland rock, and blues rock musical traditions. - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bruce_Hornsby
Ryan Verdekal He plays with such joy, it just shines through. I can imagine alot of classical pianists cringing at his unique playing style. I should know - I'm learning classical piano now!!! He's awesome.
Bruce Hornsby and the Range was a product of its time: the 80s and early 90s. It doesn’t take a genius to understand what cultural and political movements formed that society that they sang about. After last week, It’s safe to say that we now have a much better path to being that America once again.
This song's theme has far greater relevance these days in 2022 than it did 34 years ago upon its release! A beautifully sung & performed gem from the 80s. Bruce Hornsby was a true prophet, as he had his hand on the pulse, this general pulse that he converted & channeled into some amazing, timeless & transcendent music. This song along with its powerful theme (corporate greed/environmental degradation) will live on forever. A masterpiece for the ages!
This is why music in the 80's was the best! It was just a more simpler time. No cell phones, no reality television, no Spotify, no Tik Tok and No Covid. People actually talked to each other. School shootings were unfathomable. And kids rode bikes and played hoops till dark. Malls were safe from bullets. I miss those simpler times so much! 😃

Bruce was vastly underrated. Hell of a songwriter. Hell of a piano player. I learned to play piano because of him. Easily in the top three of my all time favorite musicians . This is good wholesome music. Im 45 and I feel bad for the younger generation not to hear this beautiful music and not to experience it first hand as we did. This is real music!!!!

I am 6 years old, popping in the Scenes From The Southside CD into my dad's Technics CD player. I listen for the bubbly-sounds of the laser as the disc spins up and then turn up the volume to hear the opening of this track on the large 2-speaker Sansui system. Next thing I know it's been more than an hour and the CD plays again from Track 1. That was 36 years ago. A very strong memory which keeps me coming back to this song again and again.
I was having a very bad year in ‘18. Divorce, moving to another state, health issues. One night I decided to go by myself and see Bruce in concert because there was a seat 5 rows back right next to his piano, just behind so I could see him playing. Everything got better after that night. Was always a fan 💜
Bruce never preached in his songs...just painted the picture. He never insulted his audience, just believed they could be trusted with what he was sharing.

Kim B I agree. I'm 65 and this was one of the last artists/groups I followed. There has always been something great about the original members - the that started it all - in a studio - and made great music. This song evokes one of my best memories of my life. I remember it was at the end of a long half country drive from Texas to Virginia. Not only is his musicianship outstanding, the message is timely......and timeless. Love the heck out of Bruce. His melodies make my eyes well up and skin shiver. XOXO
His smile, while playing the piano, looks at his band and the audience who love him. Every time I watch it, his smile that lights up his eyes, is something really special and precious! Great Bruce, great band .... thank you!
You know a band is significant when you've heard this when it was just playing on the radio, and it's stuck with you all these years. This is one of those bands.
Bruce really is totally amazing. I just recently came back to him and you can NOT deny this music is awesome. Every Little Kiss makes me tear up EVERY time
My parents used to see him play when he was unheard of at small bars and clubs. Listening to this makes me miss Virginia terribly. I miss going crabbin' in the bay, the smell of honeysuckle and clam fritters. The images in this video of the bay, the deadrise work boats, and farms makes me very homesick.
I was in that group of people who followed him around in 1978 when he played locally in Hampton Roads and got to get to know him a little back then. The first time I heard him and his band I said if this guy doesn't make it there is something wrong. His band played jazz standards, originals, and top 40 songs. Probably the best "local" band I ever heard in any club. 8 years later The Way It Is came out and the rest is history. He deserves every accolade he has ever received. Super nice guy who has stayed true to his art and been successful. Not too many can say that.
This is such a wonderfully crafted song and it's one of my favorites. It's just a true classic, a real gem. As much as an accomplished musician Bruce Hornsby is, his songs tell the story about life itself, and to a glorious meaning. The sound here of this timeless masterpiece, is purely legendary. Kudos to this great man and his wonderful band, and if they haven't already been, they should be inducted into the R&R Hall of Fame.
Everytime I hear is songs, I smile. No matter what mood I'm in, I just feel happy when I hear his music. I love 80s music, while everyone else my age likes modern music.
It just doesn't get much better than this. Those piano riffs...they take a person to another level. Thank you Bruce for elevating my experience of life!
The intro to this has obviously served as inspiration for some of the 1975s extended intros. That first 50 seconds could roll into too shy let me know for example. I hope nobody gets angry at this comment by the way i just love finding songs which have obviously inspired later songs
Fall 1988...Starting my freshman year of high school, which was unforgettable for the wrong reasons. I was stuck in the hospital for a month, and this song got me through. Even through the hardships there's still hope
Wow, that moment at 0:44 when the drum and piano really kick in is amazing! Was introduced to Bruce Hornsby’s music by my dad as a kid growing up in the ‘90s, good songwriting and performances are timeless!
Cruising gravel roads with your favorite Gal, stopping to check out the sunset and smoke a joint.... That's what this reminds me of. Press ESC. to go back.
His music always bring a tear to my eye, when he is sings it makes me believe he believes what he's singing. I feel sincerity in what he sings etc, that gets to me.
Love the opening of this song. Bruce scoops you up and takes you on jammin journey to an aspect of America. Pure genius. Somebody call Billy Joel and tell him the piano man is in the building.
I always love Bruce Hornsby songs.... because they are motivating and inspiring.... thanks you guys for producing such wonderful songs along the years.... you the range and all the other great will Always be a part of my heart, other people hearts and memories.... long Live the legends.
I love how the video was edited, how the concert scene was incorporated to the farm and boat scene and how the actors lead the viewers to how the lyrics were interpreted. Love the guys whenever they look out the window: life's reality and simplicity. Though this reached # 35 in charts, truly this is bruce's cherished song for me

Very cool my man keep discovering
Everytime I hear is songs, I smile. No matter what mood I'm in, I just feel happy when I hear his music. I love 80s music, while everyone else my age likes modern music.
I don't regret much, but I do regret not being in that crowd at this gig... there's a lot of love in that room!
When I watch Bruce perform it always seems to lift my spirits.
Great Voice, Great Song👍👍👍.......Hello from Ghana, West Africa
Bruce is so great on the piano that your eyes can't follow his fingers. Bravo Bruce Hornsby!👍🥰
the years with bruce hornsby on the radio where the best of my childhood. miss thoose days.m
"Look Out Any Window" How great is this song!?!!!
Wow, that moment at 0:44 when the drum and piano really kick in is amazing! Was introduced to Bruce Hornsby’s music by my dad as a kid growing up in the ‘90s, good songwriting and performances are timeless!
Wonderful high notes 😂😂😂😂 We are all singing with you thousands of thankyous Sheila Duke 🎉
Hello, how are you doing it's nice meeting you here ..
Simple lyrics, great tune & Bruce rules on the PIANO ....
After all these years, indeed decades, I keep coming back to this.
And 27 years later no one was listening to Bruce or his message. Bet you wish you had now.
I sure do miss those days. Such a great time to be alive.
Another great song and memory of a way simpler time when people could actually assemble in one place and share a common love 💘.
bruuuuce!!! you are so awesome of a song writer;)
Bruce is brilliant on the keyboard!
That piano just draws you into the music, and makes you love it!
Enduring Favorite BH Song. imo - best environmental song ever written.
beautiful music, one of the best (if not the best) piano players of modern music.
Cruising gravel roads with your favorite Gal, stopping to check out the sunset and smoke a joint.... That's what this reminds me of. Press ESC. to go back.
His music always bring a tear to my eye, when he is sings it makes me believe he believes what he's singing. I feel sincerity in what he sings etc, that gets to me.
the years with bruce hornsby on the radio where the best of my childhood. miss thoose days.
Love the opening of this song. Bruce scoops you up and takes you on jammin journey to an aspect of America. Pure genius. Somebody call Billy Joel and tell him the piano man is in the building.
Bruce makes Billy look like a student.
Levon Helm playing the farmer?! Priceless. Go Bruce!
I always love Bruce Hornsby songs.... because they are motivating and inspiring.... thanks you guys for producing such wonderful songs along the years.... you the range and all the other great will Always be a part of my heart, other people hearts and memories.... long Live the legends.
Bruuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuce!!!! simply one of the best ever. A song that we keep playing ....when are we ever going to listen to it?
Hornsby got a slew of great songs but this might be his best. Uplifting tune.
Sublime 80s Gold. 😃🇬🇧
I love how the video was edited, how the concert scene was incorporated to the farm and boat scene and how the actors lead the viewers to how the lyrics were interpreted. Love the guys whenever they look out the window: life's reality and simplicity. Though this reached # 35 in charts, truly this is bruce's cherished song for me
From Paris (France) tanks for this kind of music...
This is by far one of the best groups ever put together!!
God I love this song….. Playing baseball all summer in my cousin’s field. Swimming in my neighbor’s pool and riding bikes in the evening throughout the neighborhood. Pennsylvania I miss you!!!!
