Absolutely brilliant! I have been a Genesis fanatic for decades, and to this day, Classic Genesis is THE GREATEST Progressive Rock Band of all-time! Bar none! This song is yet one example of their musical mastery! The music from Trespass, Nursery Cryme, Foxtrot, Selling England by the Pound (second best to....), The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway, A Trick of the Tale, Wind and Wuthering, Seconds Out (THE Best Live Album EVER!), ...And Then There Were Three..., and lastly, Duke, were complete masterpieces! This is the definitive era of Genesis, and no band could ever top such an incredible library! I truly LOVE Classic Genesis!
Carnor - I couldn't have said it better myself. I first heard them with Lamb in 1975, backtracked through Selling England, Foxtrot and Nursery, then continued on to Duke. I was fortunate to see Genesis in concert in the mid 70s, then last year, I saw Steve in concert. Small venue, great music, just perfect. Needless to say, it was a special experience and brought back so many of my earliest musical memories.
Possiamo affermare che "Selling England" sia uno dei piu bei album del ' 73? ...e questo brano una delle piu belle composizioni di sempre? Siiiiiiiiii🎼🎼🎼

Waiting for over 3 years between purchasing a ticket and seeing the concert seemed almost interminable. The concert was absolutely superb. I will never forget that night. Thanks Steve Hackett for continuing the memories of Genesis.
I wore seconds out listening to this song in the 70/80s, went to Steve Hackett, in Symphony Hall two weeks ago what a brilliant show can't believe I've waited this long.... my wife loved him and she was a punk not a prog rocker, brilliant!!!!!!!!!
This guitar masterpiece is THE antidote for 'shredding' which leaves me cold. The sustained notes are haunting. I learned this solo and never get tired of playing it. It is a lifesaver for me. And a suggestion- listen to Steve's solo album "Spectral Mornings" and the title track. It will sweep you away in the same lyrical way. I promise!!!
i dont get shredding aka soulless musical masturbation. I like when guitar serves as substitute for human voice, with weeping and crying tones. You can "sing" that solo in your head. My favorite rock guitarists are all melodic players not shredders, to name a few: David Gilmour, Andy Latimer, Steve Hackett, Steve Rothery of Marillion, Roine Stolt (TFK)
The orchestra adds quite a fullness of sound to such a wonderful masterpiece of modern music, thanks to all and especially Steve Hackett for carrying on. Bravo!
I saw him do this in Berkeley a few years ago without the orchestra and by the end of the song I was on a cloud, completely untouchable. He is truly a unique guitarist.
This is so exquisite and exciting , majestic, even if you don't listen to classical music, this is the music to give you an appetite, you just go on a journey musically, i first listened to Genesis in l972, they are so arresting and magical, whomever plays their music will live forever, the orchestra embellishes and puts the icing on the cake! He respects the fact that Steve is now the star of the show instead of himself as the lead singer, unlike the situation back in the early Genesis days. Sylvan is a pro who knows how to come in right on count.
The vocalist did a great job as well! What a voice! I really like this version. A wonderful performance by any measure!
the name of the singer, please

THAT GUITAR SOLO IS JUST FANTASTIC
That Lead solo is no doubt a Masterpiece...one of the most beautiful in this universe...it grazes through all your various beautiful & good emotions and feelings & you never want it to end...no feelings or emotions of hatred only all that is beautiful & good...
Who in their right mind would five this a thumb's down?!? What an absolutely brilliant performance. Thanks for uploading!
Steve Hackett is grandiose, and his band is stellar. Add in those strings, and the horns at the end… but let’s not forget the keyboards, that intro gets me every time. Steve is the spirit of Genesis the Prog band, Peter told the stories, and Tony is Einstein.
Not forgetting the brilliance of (the peerless) Gary O'Toole on drums....
And thats why prog rock is still as popular now as its always been!
Perhaps one of the most beautiful songs ever written... Masterpiece..
Un brano così meraviglioso non l'ha fatto nemmeno Mozart !!!! Questa è musica classica !!!! ❤❤❤❤❤
I did not believe this song could be played more movingly than when I saw Genesis live but this wonderful, the guitar solo even more amazing than that time!
When I travel to heaven I hope I'm allowed to take this tune with me to give comfort and joy on my journey.
I've finally realised that I don't really care who is playing the music as long as it is played well; and this is played very well. A sign of a true classic.
...although Steve Hackett's playing really is something very special :)
Bravo Steve! And Nad is superb at the vocals!
This is one of the best performances i see from Steve Hackett. I wish back the time of music with concept and story to tell. It is my youth remembering. Great for all time. Thank you Steve
Thanks Steve for preserving Genesis classics, especially from those who were born later and never saw original act live
Thanks Steve for carrying the Genesis legacy. Just absolutely perfect!!
You're right, buddy 👍
Still after all these years I am still in love with ‘that’ solo.
And he was about 22 or 23 when he first did it. Beyond my abilities.
Me too!
After Hackett. Only duke was good.
I have spent so many great hours with them.Inexpressibly wonderful music. So much forgotten in the world of ubiquitous lie.
I am die hard fan of Pink Floyd but i also open another page for Genesis!
@@dsportsguy58 Go to Racing in A live 1979! A masterpiece
The amazing geniuses Tony Banks and Steve Hackett - both in their 20s. Astonishing.
Possiamo affermare che "Selling England" sia uno dei piu bei album del ' 73? ...e questo brano una delle piu belle composizioni di sempre? Siiiiiiiiii🎼🎼🎼
WTF!!! I have goosebumps! This is the first time I hear something from Steve Hackett, wow
How beautiful is Steve's tone, how intense his phrasing! A milestone not only in the history of rock but in music as a whole! Number One, Master!😍
Going to see Steve on Saturday in Edinburgh and I've got EVERYTHING crossed this gets played!!!
Don't worry, it definitely will be, I've seen the set list. Steve ALWAYS plays this at his live shows, it's kind of his signature piece. I'm going to see him two weeks tomorrow. So looking forward to it - I bought the tickets nearly two years ago - bloody covid 😊
50 years ago I first learned what music was by listening to works like this. I'm 67 now and have yet to hear anything even close to being on the same scale as this. Thanks Rulie for the upload and a special thanks to Steve for working on and releasing this masterpiece.
I agree. My favorite ever music Genisis and Steve. Love it. 40 years of the best music ❤
FANTASTICO praticamente un viaggio
I've never cried to Genesis, I have always loved them and especially Tony Banks playing, but to see Steve play that solo, yes, I cried....
I've been listening to this for nearly half a century, first saw it played live at Earls Court in 77,more recently at Fairfield Balls a few weeks ago and Steve's solo still gives me goosebumps. An astonishing piece of music
Clearly, Steve Hackett, is the embodiment of Genesis. This shit is blowing me away, and I've been a life-long fan of Genesis!
Thinking the same....
What about Tony Banks?
@@shahaffiq5860 They're all great, but watch some solo Hackett stuff; he's incredible.
I bought a ticket to see Steve Hackett more than a year in advance of the scheduled event in Sydney. Then COVID19 intervened. It delayed the concert for 2 more years. Waiting for over 3 years between purchasing a ticket and seeing the concert seemed almost interminable. The concert was absolutely superb. I will never forget that night. Thanks Steve Hackett for continuing the memories of Genesis.
I got to see him on Selling England tour, then Seconds Out got canceled cuz of Covid. Then saw him again, for Foxtrot at 50
Saw him on that same tour in Melbourne, was my first ever concert.
@matthew-1710 what album was he touring?
@@tookmynick Selling England by the Pound + Seconds Out
@@matthew-1710 you're LUCKY!! I so wanted to see Seconds Out!!!
I wore seconds out listening to this song in the 70/80s, went to Steve Hackett, in Symphony Hall two weeks ago what a brilliant show can't believe I've waited this long.... my wife loved him and she was a punk not a prog rocker, brilliant!!!!!!!!!
Penso che questa sia una delle più belle esecuzioni di FIrth of Fifth che io abbia mai ascoltato. Uno dei più bei pezzi della storia del rock.
Bu can you approach Steve's artistry?
Added to my music to listen list! Thanks!

Spectral Mornings is a fantastic album indeed and I also know and love this Music for over 43 years!!!
The orchestra adds quite a fullness of sound to such a wonderful masterpiece of modern music, thanks to all and especially Steve Hackett for carrying on. Bravo!
One of the greatest pieces of music ever written ❤️
Best version yet. The orchestral touches lift it to another plane.
This song is absolutely majestic. Just one of the many early Genesis songs that just soars one to a new dimension. Just phenomenal with an orchestra.
Terri Leckner, Montreal
Capolavoro !!!!!!!!!!
Man it kills me how much that vocalist sounds so much like Greg Lake. Awesome video thanks!
La chitarra di steve è la voce degli angeli! Magia pura
Perfection ~ From start to finish!!! Thank you for posting!!!!
Incredible music!

Now THAT is a rock composition totally at home with an orchestra. Well done all.
My ears and eyes are in heaven * speechless
Glorious
Listened FoF maybe more than 10k times since 1978. It is always the first time
Pesionade `~ Yep! l cant move on from the prog era! lts just TOO GOOD!

Moi aussi.
Saw him live in London two days ago and he played this just as brilliantly, the whole atmosphere of the song held the audience.
Cannot wait to see Steve Hackett in Helsinki in November. Band is excellent and plays best and legendary Genesis songs. Nad Sylvan's voice and presence is Diamond - he is brilliant.
never realised how important Hackett was to the Genesis sound till he left they were never the same again!
