Wow this really helps!!!! I'm actually trying out for the volleyball team at school, and to be on the team, you have to be able to over hand serve. Which I CANNOT do. 😂😂😂 So thankfully I found this video and realized that I was doing everything wrong. 😂😂😂 so thankyou!!!

Wow those kids can do a better overhand serve than me woah this is really helpful since I've been playing volleyball only for fun for a long time now, I've only managed to get the ball over ONCE with an overhand serve. So this is how it's done step by step!

I coach @ the YMCA. This is my second season coaching. Have never played volleyball professionally. I was struggling with how to introduce over handed hits. This helped a lot! I plan on using this @ tonight's practice.

So I have to learn how to do a overhand serve, I can do it but they hit the top of the net and fall down. My height for them is good but the length or how long they go is bad! Do you know what I could be doing wrong. They just need to go farther😃
This was my problem! Girl just do push-ups for a week and you'll be able to notice a complete difference
Sophie Rae I think you need to put more so of your shoulder into it, same thing kept happening to me and my coach told me to really put my shoulder into it bring your arm back and you truly need to just hit that ball hard even though you might think your hitting the ball hard, you may approach the ball hard but you need to carry that through. Ik I'm a year late but I hope this helps

this helped a lot. i’m rlly scared cause i have a game today and my coaches expect me to get my overhand over and my shoulder has been hurting. at the beginning of october my serves were like perfect. they were going to the back row and in the direction i want. now im nervous that i’m not gonna serve good today and i’m gonna mess up the whole game. and it’s ELIMINATIONS TODAY 😬😬😬

any tips on how to overhand serve i watch these videos yet i still can’t ovehand and try outs are tomorrow 😭
I wished I learned it that way. I started at the age of 33 and I was pushed into the games without ever practising a correct serve. I have never developed a proper technique, I even learnt a wrong one and now I am struggling to get the ball over the net... 7 out of 9 serves are a fail. It is so devastating.

The key is to let go, use your core, and get outside your comfort zone (fail spectacularly, not with a whimper).
All these kids serve way better than me... My serves have a really low chance of getting over the net, no matter what technique I use... hopefully a lot of practice can help me out...

How do you keep the volleyball from going long
I NEEEEED to know how to hold my hand while serving. Do I keep it open or closed??? And do it hit the ball with my whole hand or just my palm??????
keep your hand open because hitting it with the fist can mess up your hand. i recommend just palming the ball with your whole hand to mold your hand to the ball before serving. you need to hit it with your entire hand and not just your fingers or palm.

sorry this is not very good drilling, my overhand throws are very accurate, but my tennis serve does not seem to benefit a lot from this ability. the reason for this is because the serve is a lot more to do with the timing of your rotations than of "throwing" the ball. the last part of the serve where you "throw" the ball is easy and natural if you have done everything else correctly.

Perhaps you're hitting too high, or in there wrong spot of your hand. There are so many reasons this could be happening, and to answer your question we would have to have some more information. Perhaps take a look at how your are hitting the ball, what part of your hand, and where. Hope this helps.

This is my first year playing volleyball... and I made the team.
How I did that was by:
•Watching Koko Valley videos (she’s a UA-camr)
•Know the rules of the court
•Know the different volleyball positions
•Know the basic volleyball terms
•Know the basic volleyball moves (ie bump, set...)
•Wear an outfit that really stands out
•Wear running or volleyball shoes
•Don’t wear any jewelry
•AND MOST IMPORTANTLY HAVE A GOOD ATTITUDE AND TRY YOUR BEST
(I got all these tips and advice from Koko’s channel.)

Hey! Miss I think your doing it wrong cause if you serve the ball using overhand your hand should be fully extended u shouldn't have a bin in your elbow it should be fully extended like your palm facing the ceiling
Please take the word Phenomenal out of this video. It's not a good break down of the arm swing or serve.
