- Welcome to my first Mechwarrior 5: Mercenaries Campaign Playthrough. In this video I will show you the gameplay of a full missions as well as the MechLab where you customize your Battlemechs. Mechwarrior 5: Mercenaries is a game about stompy Mech action. You take command of a mercenary company and try to grow your income, salvage Mechs and hire Mechwarriors. The game includes a campaign with a vast storyline.
The gameplay is split in two different parts. On the one hand you will have to manage your resources, hire new crew members, outfit your Mechs and travel through the Inner Sphere star map. But the action starts as soon as you get into the cockpit of your Battlemech yourself to fulfill contracts on the battlefield to earn more C-Bills and progress the story.

Christmas pun for fighting in the shades of missles. "We are fighting under the missle-toe"
Really liking this series. I still think Battletech's partial mech salvage system is still better than hoping for the RNG.
Still, at least buying them is easier here though.
Hoping they can expand on this with patches or DLC later on (or mods). I love the idea of piecing together 'mechs with the scrap you find in battles and that you can potentially, albeit rarely, find on a planet that costs a crap load of c-bills
I like harebrained schemes version of salvage, you can pick up parts and put them together to form a mech...
I'd prefer that you could only salvage parts which you didn't blow up. So if you headshot a mech, then you can salvage every bit except the head... Likewise if you double-leg a mech, then you can only salvage the upper portion of it. Each part of a mech, arm, leg, torso (left right and centre) would be an individual part and worth a share (or two) each to salvage.
I had a Catapult C4, dropped in my Lance, completely blacked out and I was able to salvage it. Also the pilot lived somehow? Gotta love salvage in this game
to complicated for younger players .....but id love it being since ive played every table top sega xbox and pc version since the early 80s
@@connerwilliams5870 - Gotta love how unfinished this game feels all the way around...
That's not necessarily HBS' method. Previous 'mech games, even vanilla MW3 and 4, where you weren't mercenaries, operated on a 'part' basis.
In fact, that was one of the primary ways of getting 'mechs in those games, especially Clan 'Mechs. Clan 'Mechs were highly sought after in those games for good reason.
@@56bturn I know that, you know that.... most people do not. I was writing for most common denominator. To be fair I should have written "the method most recently used by HBS" but you are correct.
You're in the same part of the campaign I am right now. I call it "circled forever by Cicadas."
put smaller tonnage mechs in cold storage instead of selling them. so you dont have to pay upkeep cost while still keeping options.
I have found that going for legs on any Mech is the best tactic since there seems to be less armour on every Mechs legs, The same as wehen you hit max armour on your own Mechs. Great video keep them coming
It's still more efficient to go for the CT if you think you can take it quickly, because the CT has less durability than the legs combined. But if you are brawling, yeah, it's a good tactic since there isn't a way for a 'Mech to protect its legs except getting behind cover..
5:52 Nice KKND reference :)
Great videos. Keep them coming. This is feeding my MW5 needs until I get the game. Haha
Sensational Heavy Mission!

"we need to find assault mechs" had battle masters, awesomes and a banshee to buy earlier :D
Banshee´s most common version is worse than a Hunchback with AC 20
@@bernardoheusi6146 dont buy that one then?
Should have picked up that Awesome 4 sure.
@@Genesis23OPB Wow tank captain Obvious never thought of that.
You talk as if the others are hard to find and offer something other mechs don´t.
Bara is a Steiner at heart... if it ain't 100 tons it's just an extra-heavy mech.
Got a Cataphract and loving it with the LB-x 10 and PPC combo. The LBX is really fast load times.
Good stuff!
Great work..
The awesome 8R is great for AI pilots. Load it on LRM. PPC in right arm. Remove small laser.
Also exchange capt Ridley for these better pilots in the market. Luna was better than Ridley.
Thanks for the video
I sometimes run 3 archers and a stalker with narc and Lrm 10’s. I call it the Golden Shower Lance.
What you are doing with the Warhammer reminds me of MechWarrior Legends with the D model, with Large Laser arms, torso mounted Hellfire missiles, and a shoulder mounted Gatling ballistic thing. I quite like it as it's cheaper than the Prime model, and it does just as well with less Alpha strike damage and heat problems than the Prime. Also the simpler weapon systems makes it easier to be less picky and careful with what you shoot with.
I have to admit I have fallen back on easier tier missions from time to time in order to amass c-bills. That said, I admire your willingness to take on the higher difficulty missions. The highest I've taken so far is around level 59 and I'm at reputation 11. But I've found those harder missions to be more costly in terms of damage, rather than benefit. So I am skating along at mid 30's mission difficulty. So far I've found the Commando, the Assassin and the Spider to be "deathtraps" for pilots, so I'll never use them again, while the Locust and the Firestarter somehow survive like champs. Currently I've got three lances of four mechs ready to go at all times. I drop with one Assault, one Heavy; a medium and a light mech, at all times. Forgot to add that the Raven is pretty solid as well and both the Dragon and Cataphract have done me well, as has the Zeus. Great videos, my friend. Keep them coming.
Defend the base!
*walks through numerous buildings*
*shoots a hole in the perimeter wall*
He's entertaining in that "Lovable idiot" way lol. Too bad AI teammates do the same dumb shit...
Check the roster for pilots every time you go to the hub. You're getting the point where you need better skilled pilots and you'll start to find pilots with 40ish + skill points.
I haven't said anything about what I'm getting ready to bring up and believe me when I say I'm truly enjoying your content in this game. You my friend have a serious issue with friendly fire and I would not want to be in another Mech that's anywhere even close to you. The amount of friendly fire you are constantly guilty of I can only assume wouldn't happen when instead of AI it was actually other people piloting those mechs. I am saying this in jest as far as the constant friendly fire but you really should work on that...
I found that legging enemy mechs seems to produce way more mech chassis salvage, I ran 4 different warzone missions in marik space, 2 missions just went for torso and heads hot kills, the other 2 strictly went for legs as best I could, and the 2 missions where I only destroyed legs produced 10x more chassis, pretty much every mech I legged was on the salvage table, could've been lucky but I now always do missions and kill enemy mech by legging them and so far every mission I finish has produced at least 2 mech chassis haven't had a mission not give me a chassis since I started legging only as best I can when I can, worth a try if yall wanna up your RNG game in more your favor then give it go and only aim for enemy mech legs, I found at times they seem to die faster as well...
Man, I thought it was bad losing one double heat sink when my right torso got blown off my Warhammer, losing 3 doubles at once it just brutal. 😲
MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE.
You should try something with machine guns for destroying buildings. They do extra damage to buildings
They're machineguns.... even if they do extra it's still shit. lol
@@Linerunner99 Spoken like a man who's never cheesed with an MG boat... It's been good in almost every MW game.
@@Linerunner99 I see you have never used them. My best brawlers all have mg's and smoke mechs like a boss .. Not to mention tearing up buildings fast.... Try before you smack talk them
MG Boating is actually the best way to go for buildings. For destroy and escape objectives rush in, MG ALL THE THINGS that need to be destroyed, and then fuck off back to evac. MGs put explosives to shame when it comes to buildings.
demolition derby online on the target destroy !yay!
So with the tiered weapons, you can't rank them up yourself? You can only buy or salvage them?
Love your channel and the mw5 series!

Dude..your stompy bois trashing friendly bases gives me the anxieties. ..hahaha
I'm like ..get out of there...Omg watch where you're going! !
Absolutely love this new release. .now I need a new pc to run it...waaa waaa waaah. .lol
The pun you were looking for around the 21:00 mark was "missile toe". :D
Check the ammo for the SRM in the Warhammer … doh!
Baradul, you are crazy efficient with your stuff, I’m barely scraping by mission to mission is I’m at the same spot in campaigns and all I have is four heavy mechs!! Pgi needs to add in a hard mode for you, or a easy mode for me?
Farm more get your rep up some stuff is gated , build up cbills take a flight around shopping I got my first assault around rep lvl 8 or 9? Cant remember
Do missions that are easy for your lance
Advancing from rookie ai to veteran can be crazy you will need the weight
nox warlord thanks for the tips! I got my merc-compony with the help of Starwolfe it got my way it’s back up and running, thank you!
All I want for Christmas is LRMS.
A happy christmisslemas to everyone!
Partisan heavy tanks don't fuck around. Those and the Igor's are the most dangerous targets on the battlefield most of the time. Barring a SRM40 carrier spawning 100M Behind you...
Tolles Video. Werds mir auch mal zulegen 🤞❤
Man... I typically have restarted most missions I play, at least for my first run, to keep things from getting too difficult to repair, but I have lost two Pilots in my outfit so far; Freeman never got far in my game, unfortunately, as he perished on one of those missions I simply didn't restart. *tear RIP
Also a note;
So with a hangar full of 10-12 mechs active, and most seemingly in the medium-heavy range, you will typically pay for maintenance of each at about 50-70K per each on every payout day, which is indeed 90 days. That would not be such an issue if, for example, you were sticking strictly to Davion, or potentially Liao, missions and getting significant negotiations done on each, but as it seems here, you are really going into "enemy" territories and taking missions that will usually tend to spend much more in repairs than payouts typically end up being, even if the missions end up being "high reward." As far as I can tell, unless you focus early on not favoring Davion, your best bet would be to focus on campaign missions in furthering story before doing anything else in enemy territories; The Third Succession War ends up pushing some of Davion further into Marik space, and pockets start to form within the borders between the two that will be "unclaimed" by either side, making safe haven hubs potentially for you to repair and restock for further missions. The Fourth Succession War also plays a part in the campaign as Davion and Steiner continue to dominate both Marik and Kurita, further absorbing territories further into Marik and Kurita space, and I suspect further pockets begin to form as more story missions get completed.
This, of course, comes at a slight price; It would seem as if, in its current version, the campaign map is very much static. The game seemingly gives you options to enforce or rebel against each House, but I feel that doing either side's mission won't truly affect how the map ends up looking come 3050. They are there to do one thing; to allow a player to "feel" like they are taking a part in the Succession Wars, and to balance the Reputations of each House if you choose to do so. The latter meaning that while you may have been doing many Davion missions early on, you can do the Liao or Kurita sided missions in the Campaign to help balance out how much reputation you will be losing with those Houses, and follow the same with each House as you travel along the Inter Sphere. As for status for each House, reputation "may" be set fairly hard once a level of reputation is attained. For example becoming Hero with Davion may not be truly affected by then supporting other Houses against Davion, but there isn't enough information to tell if that is true or not.
It seems to me that if your a Tank driver in a Mech world, the only way to survive is to stay home and hope the Mechs aren't on a Demolition mission.
A good chirtmas pun would have been: Come under the MISSILEtoe.
has this game improved also is there an easy mode?
MW5 is a game where the main threat isn't the eneny mechs but the enemy tanks themselves.
*you got hurt* because you tried to challenge a multi-stories reinforced building so you got the hit of it's major concrete avalanche
*especially* w\ opened-up(pierced) armor!
8Q awesomes + AI lance mates = death to VTOLs
I wanna see how do you do the last mission 😣
i don't know if it is the same in every game but, to find hvy and bigger, look in stiener territory. i started a career there and by rep 5 i was finding them for sale, a lot of them.
Rating !
It would be interesting if there was a chance that the drop ship could be shot down...
Even if they made it possible it's doubtful it would ever happen. It takes a LOT of firepower to destroy even a Leopard-class dropship.
CHRISTMISSLEMAS
I'm down
PGI made an oopsie; its REGULAN, not REGULAS.
Its the Principality of Regulus and the people of those worlds would be Regulan according to the source material for what ever its worth.
Does anyone know if you have a time limit to finish the campaign? I thought that I had read that the story goes up to the year 3049, so I have no idea. I usually do A LOT of contracts to exceed the difficulty of the campaign missions, so I'm just curious if I'll run out of time.
My story playthrough took 11506 days
@@retovath 31.5 years 😂
Why when firing at the Eagle using SRM's why don't they target lock? Instead of missing over half the time?

Friends don't deal damage to you I'm pretty sure, though you still deal damage to them. Put some PPCs on a few wide armed mechs and you'll be getting your sensors rattled every other second. They shoot like total potatoes. No damage though.
Last episode I watched his thunderbolt repeatedly hit his Warhammer in the back and shred it. That definitely contributed to the loss of the double heatsinks. Although bara having low back, putting an AI in charge of the Warhammer and constantly staying too long in fights, also contributed.
@@ANIMOUS8 Yeah I've no observation of if the teammates hitting eachother does damage myself, but that certainly sounds like they do. No damage against the player though.
firing ppcs into hillsides is my FAVORITE
Says he needs to find assault mechs, has seen three in shops, but didn't get them.
"Yay verily though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I fear no evil for I am driving a house-sized mass of fuck you"
Never retreat when you say retreat.
Weird, when I click ready with a damaged mech I get the option to wait for the repairs to complete. Am I missing something ?
Multi-mission contracts don't let you advance time while committed to the contract.
@@retovath Thanks I'd forgotten it was a multi mission lol
When / where do you start getting decent pilots? Most of the people I've found so far aren't much better than the guy with the meme helmet, who is always bad it seems.
You have to increase your reputation. 15 is max, that's where you can find 60 point pilots.
Mohrrunkel Thanks for the tip, I have been finding slightly better pilots but not by much. Will keep on merc-ing. ✊
Ah well, it was only a Missile Awesome.
Your Shadow Hawk is a overheating shutdown machine.
Dump it.
The Shadowhawk's build is fine. Baradul just keeps firing his lasers in a brawl, racking up wasted heat.
21:20 Darden..?
Toss a coin to your atlas...
Good weapons are for torso mounts, unless you have nothing BUT good weapons. Arms get shot off too easily if the mech is being played by AI pilots... :\
hi
Im rep 12 now and mission difficulty really messed up.right now im campaing mission with 75 difficulty and only 250 tonage deploy limit. Enemys massive waves coming and heavier mechs i can deploy. I have 2 atlas 1 stalker and 1 battlemaster. But i cant deploy any of that.spawns are better after update but still really hardcore. I think game wants some point you really loss some mechs and pilots.
Are you on the mission where you scrap the salvage facility? If so then the enemy mechs in that mission are all scrap, heavily damaged with limited to no armor.
If you want to buy Awesome so buy 8Q, good PPC sniper. 8T is not bad too, 3 energy hardpoints (2 heavy + 1 small) and 2 large missile hardpoints.
I love how you keep saying "its time to bail" O, wait another mech, gotta kill him first. Ok now its time to bail, no wait, another mech, kill then bail......and so on and so on till nothing left. Could just say Im going to kill everything!
You can really sell the light mech, you are not going to need them anymore, seriously. Just keep mediums and heavies and work toward assaults.
i found the merauder in the market , sorry for been an idiot in term of mechs , is it a good mech ?
yeh
75 ton mech. dual ppc + autocannon 5 + 2 medium lasers. good speed. good armor. good mech.
@@akiraguy exactly mate thats the build i saw
Look for mechs which have torso mounted weapons. You will have to repair or replace arm mounted weapons a lot! Marauder is not bad but Orion or Black Knight are better. Just my opinion.
@@igorbukovy4313 i will keep that in mind mate thanks alot
FIRST AND I LIKED THE VID FIRST TOO :D
Why did you go so low on tonage in the last missions? Because mechs were still being repaired? If that is the case so simply take them and they will be automaticly repaied before you deploy, this also apply for injured pilots.
Thirst!
Spoiler advice, training pilots is useless, i always find better pilots so i just swap them. All you have to do is explore those industrial hubs. Each travel is automaticly saved so you can always load them if you are not satisfied with mechs, equipment or pilots.
The character system is awful. Its done in the worst manner. Even the old MW 4 character development was better. It limits what you can become in the end, thats the worst thing RPG can do.
It's a Mech Sim not a full on RPG lol. If you went into this thinking it was gonna be "Witcher 3" or "Dragon Age: Origins" then you need to learn to look into a game first before getting invested into it.
MechWarrior is all about mechs, outfitting them, and blowing shit up.
@@privaterose5021 How obvious, but I disagree.
A simulation is something where you dont take an active part. You ve done your decisions and enjoy the show.
MW is a genre mix of ego shooter, tactical decisions, some economical stuff managing your lance and character building part is always RPG.
Since "blowing shit up" alone is for most people not that satisfying , the other elements merge into something more exciting in the long run. Screwing RPG up means for me its less fun in the long run.
