- The new Mechwarrior 5: Mercenaries DLC "Solaris Showdown" has arrived. Let's take a look at all the gameplay aspects, story, new Mechs and weapon systems together. In this playthrough we will start a new career as a Mechwarrior thrown int o a conflict against our will.

Fresh off a successful mission on the notorious Mercenary Star, Mason and crew journey to the Hardcore system where they collide with 'Mech pilot Duncan Fisher embarking on a quest to secure a spot in the FedCom Unification Tournament. Forming an unlikely alliance, Mason and Fisher traverse the shadows of Solaris, engage in harrowing 'Mech duels, and race against the clock to save the day - a true Solaris Showdown.
Join Duncan Fisher in a race against time to thwart the overthrow of the Solaris Council, discover the new Loader King 'Mech, select new weapons and equipment tailored for close-quarter engagements, and help save the very future of Solaris.
The gameplay of Mechwarrior 5 is split in two different parts. On the one hand you will have to manage your resources, hire new crew members, outfit your Mechs and travel through the Inner Sphere star map. But the action starts as soon as you get into the cockpit of your Battlemech yourself to fulfill contracts on the battlefield to earn more C-Bills and progress the story. I will review the weapon systems, battlemechs, show you how to build the loadouts and train your pilots and take a look at all the different mission types and upgrades of the MW5 Heroes of the Inner Sphere DLC.

Female viewer (and gamer) here. I'm interested in tactical games and have troubles falling asleep without some sort of "information noise". Your Roguetech vids are both interesting enough to create such "noise" but not extreme or existing enough to be a problem in this context. Your MW5M series is just "why not" for me. Your outro a little bit loud though.

Weird I fall asleep to these too, I notice even when I'm passing out I never turn it off, I prefer to be listening to something, either telling me about a game I'm playing or just random documentaries.

If something is broken under the endo, the endo appears as broken as well. Remove all the broken items before assuming the endo is broken.
Save the crusader for later, but use it's weapons.
My 8 year old daughter enjoys your videos and is getting pretty good naming mechs and their classes when watching or playing the game herself
You earned the Crusader. I think it’s funny how the arena missions want you to deal damage quickly only to spawn you over 2km away from the enemy.
As a mercenary, the gift of the Crusader was fortuitous... However, to repair that mech from heavy damage, would routinely cost as much as some of the matches being fought with it.
The smart commander holds back such a mech until the time is right. And until the incoming cbills justify its use. Remember, you have a whole barracks of mercenaries to pay / feed / maintain as well! :-)
For the Crusader I would say both "you earned it" and "don't use it yet". Keep it for now and introduce it once you build your first heavy from salvage. So when you finally get to heavies you will start with two.
The light struggle is fun to watch, I just hope you keep this one going when the clans comes out...

All you really need for infiltration is a single stock locust, and take all the money for the mission.

Basic Machine Gun ammo works with the Clan Machine Gun's reason you can not find any.
the infiltration mission was rough. much respect for not reloading a save.

You earned that mech. I'd say use it for arena only if nothing else. It's given by the arena because it's what the people want to see.

Yeah....YOU EARNED that Crusader. So I would run it, but ONLY when you have the bankroll to keep it running, know what I mean!! One bad mission and the repair bill could make your checkbook go BIONG!! Keep the vids coming Baradul, look forward to them!!
As a woman who works overnight sleeping during the day can be hard.
Your voice yapping about tech and mechs overlayed with machine guns and medium laser fire just puts me to sleep.

You got that Crusader as a reward, it's legit.
Also you've missed AMS half ammo in one of the stores.
He ist still on the same Planet to get the 4 bins of AMS half tons ammo. So he might get them if he remembers and read your post or both in the next episode.
I'd say use the Crusader. But, the other option not mentioned was, "You earned a reward, so take the cash value." It gives you money for buying upgrades and repairs, but not an outright jump in power.
Keep the Crud, tweak it at your leisure, and use it when it's time to bust out heavies. In the meantime, enjoy the hectic madness of lights and mediums for as long as you can.

You fought for the Crusader, so use it. It's technically "battlefield salvage ." Outfit that Crusader with a couple of LRM 15s, a couple of magpulse srm6s and call it a day
You earned it. You probably going to rebuilt it so you still need to collect the components.
Baradul, the firestarter's endo steel structure was fine, the broken parts were the floaters, and it's visuals bug out in the mechlab when it's been crit,as long as the primary endo steel structure in the CT is there you don't need to replace it.

As to the CRD, you did work for it. Without the constant and consistent stream of victories, you wouldnt have gotten it. Effort expended, reward granted.

I suggest buying every machine gun you find and upgrade them. They’re very cheap and higher than tier 1 are fairly rare. You’re using so many machine guns you’d benefit I think.
I decided to do a new fresh run myself. It is going so horribly. They are throwing Blackjacks with two heavy rifles, Assassins with two SRM 6, or all SRM light mechs. Absolutely tearing me apart.
As for the Crusader, you earned it through fighting in the arena.

I understand the hesitation when handed such a big power jump, the early game can be a lot of fun as you struggle to work your way up to some bigger mechs. Maybe put the Crusader in storage and pull it out as soon as you've assembled a heavy mech yourself?
I would keep the crusader in cold storage to use later after you've salvaged heavy mechs to justify using it, or strip it for its parts to use in other mechs then sell it, you did grind the solaris rep after all so the parts wouldn't be bad to take if you don't feel like using the crusader.
I love the early game grind. If I was playing, I'd say, keep going with the salvage. It's more fun to me 😁
Run it, you got it from working the battlefield which counts as earning it in my book

I always take damage coverage, at least 1 pick. That way at least some of your repair costs are covered.
I very rarely take C-Bills. Always salvage and damage coverage
You earned the crusader, I say either use it, or sell it and use the money to improve your others, if you don't want to go to heavy yet.
Use the crusader. You fought and did the extra requirements to get to that point so it is an earned mech.
Once you get a heavy mech or two through natural means, then you can deploy the bonus crusader.

technically, the crusader is an earning from the battlefield, as it goes as a reward for multiple missions (fame) and does not differ from the regular pics

I think grinding the arena qualifies as "earning it." Just be ready for those arms to be expensive if an AI pilots it!

It is like a quest reward. Just like you would get if you ran a series of missions for a House except it is for the Arena. I would say use it.

You earned the right to use the Crusader due to fact that in this playthrough you did a lot of Solaris missions. If you still feel uncomfortable due to your own words of "liking the struggles". I offer you the following rule ..
"You shall not use the Crusader in combat until you have another Mech of 65 Tons or higher."
The consequences are that you need to build up your mech bay to support 2 heavy Mechs and you may utilize the components/weapons or also rebuild the Crusader if you see fit. You may take or leave this rule as you see it fits or not.
Had the same problem a year ago findig a fully functional Starleague Battlemaster at the start of a Campaign, while still struggling to build up a light lance.
I do love a good comeback story...
You earned the Crusader, use it. You took extra damage and risk to gather fame, so anything you earn from that I would say is fair game.

I reckon you earned the Crusader, spoils of battle mate. Think about the amount of times you have gone in under tonnage this play through. Any mech given after a fight you win is earned and you should put it in the lance. Also sell the fee ones to get better crazy gear I reckon. Have fun either way mate.

Strip it if you want, save until you get into heavies though. You earned it but a heavy would throw off the challenge. Like a lot.
My vote is use the Crusader. You earned it through your mission grinding for fame.
If you want a compromise on using the mechs gained from Solaris. Don't use them until you've scavenged a mech of the same weight class, that way they aren't useless to you, but you aren't jumping the power curve too hard.
I know its probably unpopular but I vote against using the crusader. Personally, I restrict how much I abuse the arena. You get the best mechs, the best rewards, with very minimal risk (only a single mech can be lost at most in many cases), and there is almost always some way to cheese the mission. My personal rule is to only accept missions from a single "stable" for the whole of a playthrough. In addition to being lore friendly, it makes the normal missions much more believably typical.

If you didn't earn the Crusader, you also didn't earn the 2 million c-bills that came with it so you can't use them either. Earned the mech, earned the money.

Urbanmech doing the hard yards in earning you a lot of money. So of course the only logical progression is to build an Urbanmech IIc.
Either way, you've managed to start the rebuild after the disastrous infiltration mission.
As for the Crusader, I think you should use it, but still continue to build up from the light mechs you're currently running.
Take the Crusader. You won it fair and square. Besides, it's not going to be cheap to keep and repair - Heavy, after all.
i vote for selling the crusader, you definitely earned a payday. keeping it in storage or using it would both feel weird.
When I did a similar challenge I sold any given mechs and dismissed all given pilots. But I think you've earned this one.
Also: Aren't clan stuff only in the Blackmarkets or do you not have that toggled?

Use Crusader, You earned it by natural progression. Not playing it will give an artificial falvour to the run.
