    I don't recall a message ever popping up about autofocus when plugging it into a monitor. Never seen a difference with the autofocus. Used this cam tons of times with a field monitor. I actually have five of these and use them to multi-cam live stream sports. Amazing camera for that kind of thing.

    Nice and quick round-up. I actually knew about two out of three of those. I have the FZ1000 which also does 4K crop, but if I had to replace it tomorrow, the FZ2500 is what I'd get. As long as it's still working, however, I'll stick to it, regardless of the occasionally annoying 30-minute 4K recording limit that the 2500 doesn't have.

    Thanks for the overview about the camera. What in need is a good camera for shooting video. This will be useful for it.

    My own main gripes:
    1. The viewfinder in Movie mode does not show both shutter speed and aperture. What's up with that? I shoot in S (as noted below), so I have to switch back to S mode to check aperture, then back to Movie mode, which is clumsy.
    2. Diffraction sets in by f/8, so I try to shoot just at f/5.6 for best results, which is limiting.
    3. The menu system has gotten seriously clumsy. 10 screens in a single section, really?!
    Otherwise, FWIW, my own FZ2500 stabilizes 4K video quite well. The main limitation in 4K action shooting is the max 30 fps frame rate, so I normally shoot action sports in 1080p60 for smoother results.
    Another important factor is shutter speed. For best results in 1080p60 mode I use a shutter speed of 1/125 (2x the frame rate), which the ND filter makes possible in bright light outdoors.
    But these are quibbles-the FZ2500 is a great video camera.

    Thanks for this video! These are very well researched and experienced tips on the camera. I just found the existence of this camera recently and I wanted to pair this up with my Panasonic GH4 so I can have a good dedicated Servo Zoom Camera. This the type of information I would have never found on any other blogs or video so thanks for the info!

    GREAT content and informative. Yes, the Lumix FZ range hasn't had a good run with the IOS. However, almost everyone who buys one overlooks the internal microphone, IOS and auto-focus issues when they see the staggering image quality. Lumix don't cut any corners with glass, and the lens are as good as they come. The 1080 is utterly brilliant, and the 4K also.

    I have one myself. I shoot mostly jpgs with it. IMHO, the out of the box factory settings over sharpen the jpgs. Fortunately, sharpening can be adjusted in camera. I adjust images a small amount in post, to good advantage. Video right there to capture action with the red button. There is no perfect camera, but in bright sun, this one comes close!

    Good tips and points I haven't heard elsewhere..so thanks. still vacillating between FZ 2500 and (back to) GH4. Cost of various lenses always causes heart palpitation. Need high zoom to film airplanes for a documentary. Does GH4 offer better IBIS? and auto focus?

    Good video. I also have the Fz2500 & have a few ' wishes / complaints. I'm more a ' stills ' shooter & would like to see some additions included in a future Fz2500 II. I've seen some photos from the Sony mark 4 one in. sensor bridge camera & some of the images seem a bit sharper than the Fz's. It has a better sensor & the Zeis lens. In these areas I'd like to see Panasonic, if not exceed - then at lest match the Sony. It also should have dust & some weather sealing. After 2 1/2 years I can look down into the lens & see dust particles. Because they are not near the sensor they don't seem to show up on images. A camera tech guy said that when the camera turns on & the lens extends - this movement causes a suction effect inside that will ' pull ' in dust particles inside of the lens. There are so many features / aspects of the Fz that I really enjoy - some of which you mentioned - which makes it an all around ' fun ' camera to use. Thanks again.

      I see the same dust in mine too! I couldn't believe it when I first saw it. I don't know if there's any way to fix it either? :(

    • @rayjenkins2754
      @rayjenkins2754 5 років тому +1

      @@GeekyNerdyTechy With my Fz I learned from the local tech fellow that the dust in my lens doesn't result in any untoward effect on my photos. He - the tech - took a shot of some orange paper he had - played it back on the camera's monitor - then zoomed in x 16 & used his finger to move the image around until he could see there were no ' spots ' to be seen & said, " No dust on the sensor. " He added , after a test of looking through the view finder at a white piece of paper held close to the lens, that he saw no spots either. I had purchased from e-bay a panasonic service manual & had e-mailed a copy to the tech guy, who stated that the lens assembly was quite complex & that he wanted no part in taking it apart. My choice now was did I want to send it to the Panasonic service center in Texas & pay $150 ~ $200 ( plus ship ) to have the dust removed - & hope they calibrated the reassembly spot - on so that the focus was accurate - and then because of no sealing have more dust get inside eventually ! This is why I am adamant that any 'future' high end quality fixed lens bridge camera - like the Fz - ' MUST ' have dust sealing from the factory. With that said, I wouldn't be too worried about any ill effects from the dust in yours either. Ray

      My take:
      FZ1000 is a great still camera that also does very good video.
      FZ2500 is a great video camera that also does very good stills.
      I have both, and I grab the FZ1000 to shoot stills. The lens is spectacularly good.
      The FZ2500 lens is more than good enough for video, but falls short of the FZ1000 for stills.

    how is it for "sports" video? Distance I will be filming from is about 80' from the camera +/- 10 ft (water sports behind boat). Biggest concern? Auto focus? From what I have seen in comments, and personal pref, I would be filming at 1080p

      The AF is good when it comes to shooting photos. Some people seem to think that the photos look soft though. I am not a photographer other that's one of those things that might come with more experience with other cameras. The contrast-detection autofocus is far better for photos than video.

    Hi. Probably no one will see this. But there is some options i can buy for starting my photography hobby again. I see this camera is good price and performance. My other option is Sony Alpha ZV-E10L APS-C 16-50 mm lens. This one is bridge camera and I don't wanna spend a lot on lenses. But the Sony has better sensor. And it's newer. Idk if I'll be happy with the Panasonic. It is heavier and so hard to carry maybe. But i like the zoom and macro options in one camera. Any help about my situation ?

    • @michaelbell75
      @michaelbell75 11 місяців тому +1

      I would probably recommend getting the original Panasonic G9 and a lens that would suit what it is you need. The G9 will be a better photographic camera, but this is a solid video performer. If you're shooting longer form videos, this is a decent choice but for smaller video bursts, I would choose the G9 over this (or a GH5).

    Thanks for the review.:)There are good plenty reviews for the new Lumix 90/95. There a little crop for 4K as well but no recording time limit.I still believe Bridge/Superzoom cameras are good options for people who want to jump slowly in photography without spending too much in accessories (lenses,..). My first digital camera was bridge before having a DSLR.What do you think about a potential replacement for the Lumix FZ2000/2500, a new FZ3000/3500?What specs would you like to see in a such camera, a real Hybrid for hybrid users (Stills-Photo and Videos)?What do you think about the G90/95?Should a FZ3000/3500 looks like a G90/95 with fixed lens, but similar specs and body design?(Probably the body would be a little bigger to accommodate the lens + focal length)Why not put a M4/3rd sensor in a FZ3000/3500?Let us know what you think about this.Thanks.

      Nonsense. It has an excellent 24-480mm lens. You would need at least one zoom lens plus the actual camera body to get that. Even if you want with the cheapest Sony APS-C gear and got the ZV-E10 for $700 and the Tamron 18-300mm f/3.5-f/6.3 for $700, thats $500 more and I'll take the Leica lens on the 2500 all day over the Tamron kit lens which is trash. The 18-200mm Sony E PZ with OSS is about on par with the lens on the 2500....it's $1,200. So thats $2k for your camera and lens. But the ZV-E10 doesnt have IBIS, an EVF, nor a fantastic 6 stop ND filter built in. The FZ2500 is a steal for the price.
