Nova and Moth are 2 songs that speak to my soul. They feel like warmth, nostalgia and sorrow all in one. The duality of Burial and Four Tet's musical atmospheres on those songs legitimately feels like therapy to me and listening to them makes me just reflect on my life and every other time I was listening to those songs, through the good and the bad. Fantastic songs, I've heard both of them in my dreams before too. Wolf cub is incredible as well and I didn't even know about it until a long time I heard Nova or Moth.

I'll never forget his insanely creative Ableton Live skills when he ripped Billy Jean with 10 min on the clock. That was just a genius moment in music production history.
Thanks for the video! I enjoyed it a lot. I have been listening to four tet for quite a while now but just realized I never did a deeper research about him. His authenticity and joy did always shine thru his music tho. For the last couple of months "parallel" is on constant repeat. I cannot stop listening to it :D Last week I had a small surgery (all good) and when I got back my conciousness I already had my earphones plugged in and "parallel 1" was already at minute 10. Perfect song to wake up to!
I'm surprised this didn't talk pointedly about what I think is the biggest story of how he transitioned from breaks/beats to house/techno between Everything Ecstatic and There Is Love In You. The Nothing to See single and the actual first Percussions- Bird Songs / Rabbit Songs, are right in there too, and he's basically been couched in that since but still making occasional chill beats on the albums. I see that as the real story, how he went from experimental beats to dance floor bump that still has his characteristic experimentation and high quality sound.
Thanks for the great video! I believe he's also a major collaborator in Neneh Cherry's latest work, who's another pioneer by herself, being there when alternative hip-hop, trip-hop and "IDM" or something weren't a thing yet

Great docu, thanks for compiling all this stuff, I will have to follow the rabbit hole one of these days. Four Tet has always been just on the periphery of my musical taste, in the 90's I was more into drum and bass and in the 2000's I mellowed and revisited 90's electronica like BoC, Plaid, Future Sound of London etc. When I heard New Energy and 16 Oceans it was like a convergence, but I'm sure if I go back now I will appreciate the stuff I glossed over back then. You mentioned New Energy was your favourite album but what are your top five? PS you didn't mention his excellent lockdown sets in 2020! And then I got to see him live last year and he blew my mind, he really takes you on a journey. By the way, if you haven't heard his collabs with Burial yet, those are a must listen!
4:32 "krautrock" isn't German for "cosmic music" - "kosmische Musik" is the German phrase for this. "Kraut" is actually a derogatory slur for German people, but before WW1 & 2, it was actually just a synonym for "sauerkraut", which is a traditional European dish consisting of fermented cabbage, often eaten in Germany.
