this is exactly the right mindset for industry longevity and creating something thats both fulfilling for yourself, and rich for your audience...he's kind of like the musicians musician...incredibly authentic.
Nobody seems to operate this way anymore. It's all catering/sell-out type stuff. Which, I guess I understand - making money and achieving success is important. I just don't understand how people have happiness/pride in what they've built if they aren't doing what they *want* to do. Do your thing; if people like great, if not, no worries as long as you enjoyed the ride.
I really like John Kennedy as an interviewer. He’s also great questions, is so good at giving space and just reflecting back and summarising. Had he. It been a DJ/producer/podcaster he’s have made a great therapist!
I think Four Tet not worrying about how others interpretate his accumutalive projects gives his sound authenticity. For a producer who likes to do everything it must be very good to work project to project instead of audience-service to auidience-service.
I remember seeing Four Tet in Brisbane in February 2011. Caribou and Four Tet @ The Zoo. I saw then what I still see now, the grandmaster of electronic music.
Thanks for putting these videos up. I've been into his music since the fridge days, but this is the first time I've seen him interviewed. Very happy that he's a thoroughly nice chap as well as a bit of a genius ❤
For someone with such a mysterious persona behind his art, he seems like a pretty chill and down to earth guy. Don't know what it is about IDM/IDM-adjacent artists and not doing too many interviews

"Do your thing and let people take it in" is my mantra. Be yourself and just enjoy what you produce 😊

Such a great producer/writer - love the humble nature of hearing him talk about his work. Chur.

It's weird they included a long ad in the middle of Kieran sharing stuff with the host
RamonPang about to blowwww

What headphones is he wearing?
That's Neumann's for sure.
He looks like a wiggle...
I'm just waiting for him to start singing hot potato.
Gas
Yes but, this is an interview
I can't explain it but he looks like Deadmau5
Thoughtful stoner vibes - would like to hear his music after 12 months fully sober too!
dissapointingly tepid
Yeah, idealizing strangers does tend to end that way
He prefers to press “Play” and dance with two clowns at the mixing desk…
Yesss!
