This was fun, cant wait to have a crack on the thames for some winter Pike and perch, well done guys.
Awesome going back to some of your earlier videos, making me want to go lure fishing!
Thanks for the video. Picked up some useful tips that I will try in the severe this week end
.
Thanks boys brilliant!
always great watching you guys
those houses though , fishing like that at the bottom of your garden , I lived in Kingston upon Thames years ago and always loved those houses on the Teddington / Shepperton side of the river. lovely spot.
James Coughlan I know a chap who lives on the Thames out west, just like that with the river at the end of his garden. You know the crazy thing is he’s a fisherman yet doesn’t fish there but drives to Kent and fishes in lakes! Madness.
Some of the best fishing I ever did was in a lilly pad covered lake catching frogs and using the for bait for bike pike patrolling the weed edge. The strikes at dusk are a memory I will always have. Jitterbugs and poppers work great with frog colours.
A beautifully filmed and edited, high quality fishing video. Well done. Really enjoyed watching it.
Top notch vid once again
That old boat looked like JAWS had had a go at it!!! spot on video as always keep up the great work, watching these videos has got me and my son into the dropshot method, top work mike ang graham ;-)
i remember Graeme he had a shop in Fleet Hants , he done some articles for Leisure Sport
Greetings from Canada. When I was a cashier at Walmart I met an Englishman and told him I'd like to go to London someday. See Big Ben, Buckingham Palace, The Tower Bridge and take my equipment and cast on the Thames. He answered you'll never catch anything out of the Thames. They say the Salmon are making a comeback, but I'll believe that when I see it. I hear they're still debating about whether or not to reintroduce Burbot to the UK. I don't understand why, because Burbot are native to the UK, North America and much of northern Europe and Asia.
Used some of your perch tips yesterday and we didn't have any perch but my brother had a jack pike of 3-4lb
You can buy slow death hooks from mustad. It's simple . tye on a 1 and a half inches of worm put it on a bottom bouncer and slowly troll at 1 or 2 kph the worm should spin like a cork screw. Pretty much have to beat them off your hook. My faves this year twichin and slow death. Bin a great fishin season. Thank you guy's for makin these vids .they will be great time killers during the hard water season. Keep them coming.
Cheers. I lose gear all the time! Always learning.
OMG been waiting for a vid like this for ages I'm giving this ago on the weekend (without the boat) not sure where to go but I'm a member of the rdaa and I live near reading
The river kennet I guess? Check out my recent "Perch fishing with soft plastic lures" video which I filmed quite a lot of on the river kennet. Head over to our Channel and you will see it.
awesome video,..nice pike
thanks
Well what a top place to live, did u see the gardens right on to the water ?!! gots to get me a river boat ;]
Thanks mike! Fingers crossed I should get a few and whens your dad getting into this small jig fishing aha
guess what? I even consider that banjo music in the background totally awesome :) what the heck is it? I want to make it my ring-tone !!! cheers, stay awesome!
Good video lads. It's not easy tackling a river when you have no prior knowledge of it. Weir pools are the place to go but as you found out, sometimes it doesn't work out. All the places you pointed out are go to spots, but if the fish aren't there you can't catch them. Surprisingly the fish can be found in totally random places, a totally featureless place. This is where a fish finder can help spot huge shoals of bait, and then in turn the predators.
A few tips for future or anyone else starting out. Firstly, make sure your life jackets is on all the time. Too many people lose their lives each year when things go wrong really quickly. We don't want to see the end of TAF just yet.
Secondly, weir pools are really snaggy. If you are losing pike gear, then stop fishing immediately. Have a re-think, change your tactics and change your set up. 12lb mono isn't good enough for snaggy weir pools. You can't be leaving baited gear all over the place. Why not think about doing a video with someone from the PAC who could help you tackle these problems?
Hopefully that comes across constructive rather than negative, it's not easy as It seems like I'm having a pop at you when I'm not. cheers
Thanks for the input.I did in fact contact PAC some time ago see if they were interested in us filming a piking instructional.Twice.Never even got courtesy of a reply. That's why we do our own thing. Weirpools are indeed snaggy, but I think there could actually be more snags now than years ago due to all last winter's floods.Trees and branches that got rolled down, went through the sluices and now sit there.I wonder if the EA have ever thought of a grappling hook to clear them ? Or maybe sending a diver down with an underwater camera to see what they now look like ? I for one would be interested to see the footage.Bet there's some big Perch around the obstructions.I did a lot of weirpool piking about 40 years ago and remember losing an absolute monster in one Thames pool.Veltic Red and Silver spinner.Number 4 size.8 foot spinning rod.Can feel the boat being dragged round the weirpool now !!-Graeme
TAFishing Shame the PAC didn't take you up on that. Between you it would have made a great bit of advice for people to turn to. I made a go at making my own pike unhooking video recently in the hope it will help a few people out.
Weir pools are always on the change. Usually bad places to start, with all the concrete and rubble from when they were built which in turn grab all the trees that come down. Great features but not good on the tackle. lol At some point there will be big perch about for sure. The secret to losing big perch and living with it, is to convince yourself it was just a small pike! Only works if you didn't see the dorsal and stripes though. I've had those sleepless nights though too.
dead bait always work !!!
love fishing spillways from a boat. only problem i cant talk to my fishing buddy, to damn loud
Are be there tomorrow live 2 mins down the road
Just watched the perch video you recommended me and I have got some 2 inch jigs will they work for small perch? Also planing to go to the stretch of the kennet next to reading tip
Is there a chance you could go chub fishing
You said that you only had an 8 gram drop shot weight left. You can use three or four split shot weights on your drop shot rig instead. In theory if you get a snag just give it a tug and the stuck split shot should come off the line. I rig my drop shot with various kinds of weights. I loved that kraken grub. Cheers from Ohio!
Hi Jacod, I would have if we had any split shot weights! It really was the last of the lead we had lol yes the lures were great
From what I've seen you guy's live near some beautiful water. Great vid guys. I catch quite a few pike drop shoting for walleye. Have you tried the slow death rig yet it's a killer fo shore. Peace brothers.
Thanks, Can't say I've used that rig yet. How does it work? - Mike
Love the videos guys. What camera/cameras do you usually use?
How much does it usually cost to rent out a small boat like that for a day? When I return to London next year, I want to get into fishing. I love drop shot fishing for Bass, getting a lot of success with it, but most of all want to catch my first Pike. Great video as always.
I thought you guys would be fishing somewhere like southbank lol
I was using them little drop shot jigs the other day and hooked into a nice pike but unfortunately didn't get it in :(
if you want to target pike use a wire trace and lures or twitching a deadbait
Great vid guys, what size hook was the pike caught on?
They do not answer questions
Would use a 3 1/2 gramme LEAD weight?
Great video as always guys, loved it! I'm going to a river this weekend with perch that grow up to 4lbs, any advice what to use?
If you can use livebait and it is allowed then that can be effective, if not then lobworm is a good bait - Mike
thanks for the tips, tried worms and got small perch also tried sprats and got jack pike. Thanks for the advice! :)
I will be going lure fishing for pike on canals for the first time ever soon but my reel has 10lb mono. Is this to light? Also a great video as always.
No 10lb line is fine as long as you have a wire trace
I'v spent 2 days searching ebay for your white river fishing soft squid wobbler PLEASE my I have a link to buy them .thanks guys ...ps totally awesome video
fishing in and around a boat harber in killaloe with a deadbait and float caught nothing what do u recomend
was there myself yesterday, deadbaiting and lure fishing, no luck either
Cod season is coming up, any shore fishing planned for the winter?
Just finished editing exactly that about ten minutes ago.Already in the Totally Awesome scheduling system.Plenty more planned, several already done and waiting in our massive new films queue !!
Loving the new profile picture by the way!
Beat me to it I was just about going to ask the same question.
Well, nice to see that more people are intersted in shore cod fishing! Nothing beats the shore cod fishing than *patriotic voice* NORWAY!!
norawydarkness thanks glad you like it
Great vid, I've watched it a few times now. Could you please tell me where I can buy the 2" kraken lure , I've searched online and can't find it anywhere. Thanks, love the show.
Hi,
Glad you enjoyed the video. The lure company are currently in the process of sourcing uk distributors for the lures, they should hopefully be available in tackle shops and online soon- Mike
TAFishing hi great videos, do you have web address for lure company i cant seem to find them many thanks
my second day drop shotting not too far from here for perch . 8lb fluro, savage gear dying minnow an what takes it a 20lb pike, hook came out in the net. Four attempts to fit the pike in the net. A hairy moment to say the least.
sikdelphi303 I bet! Good effort though
I once caught a pike on maggots
jamie murphy .. my mate caught one on bread when we were chub fishing in a tiny stream. I’ve also had one on half a worm, size 16 barbless hook and 2lb line (and I landed it)
GREAT VIDEO. I have learned so much watching The TAFishing Show, especially about dead baiting & live baiting. Can you guys please tell me what size V.B. Double Hook Graeme has on there @ 2:52. I was under the impression that the originals only came in 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10. But it looks bigger than a 2. Thanks & love the show.
+Romildo Ricciardelli Sorry, cannot remember the size back then. Maybe a size 4 ??
Thanks so much for responding. It took a while but I finally found some originals in size 2. I ordered them & they are truly special. A little bigger but I will find plenty use for them. I plan on making some pike traces like I learned in your other vid.
+TAFishing Hi I love the idea of pike fishing and have done it a lot but only caught 1 pike years ago and I have been trying really hard to catch one even going after school but can't catch one my friends have been catching them around me but I can't so I was wondering if you have any tips for me :) Thanks
+Peeporium Hi, you need to keep at it, best times are dawn and dusk and look for slack water. Try the twitching sprat method, very deadly!
Ok will try my hardest and stock up on some sprats thank you very much. Keep up the good work !
nice vid could be longer
Linda Lewis Marine? So she isn't singing anymore?
#ebayboat
Guys, love your videos, but when you're talking, please deal with the fish at the same time !..don't keep the fish out of the water too long. !!
