    Great video guys, made me think about the hook sizes I'm using. Might rehook some rigs tonight. With luck I'll be able to get more small fish back to the sea. Love the hair do, but the lipstick didn't match I'll have to lend you mine. What was the average rod length used on that day? They looked mostly over 12 foot but it's hard to tell. Many thanks!

    Watched this second time around and would like to know about that disgorger Charlie used. Also, can you tell me how to get the lug worms to go over the hook loop and the knot without bursting them. I tried to get a good view of the disgorger but couldn't, it looks really effective. I was pulling whiting out wholesale the other night, all small and doubt many survived. They can be frustrating at times and after an hour of them taking my bait more so than crabs. Many had swallowed the hook out of sight and had to be put down.

    • @bustedcrunk
      @bustedcrunk 9 років тому

      Use a grinner knot to tie your hooks on, the tag faces up the snood and the worm can slide over it easily. It also stops the worm from sliding back down over the hook too!

    • @davidharvey5672
      @davidharvey5672 9 років тому

      bustedcrunk Hey thanks for your reply. I do use those knots, I like the way the tag end points up like that but I still burst the worms it's costing me fish because I'm loosing the scent before I get them in the water. I have more luck with fresher worms but still too many burst ones. They either go inside out or burst. Maybe it's how I'm handling the whole thing. Anyhow, I appreciate your help, thank you.

    • @bustedcrunk
      @bustedcrunk 9 років тому

      Try using a baiting needle if you aren't already?

    • @davidharvey5672
      @davidharvey5672 9 років тому

      bustedcrunk OK, thanks. I do use one occasionally although they are easy to loose at night. I also have some crochet pins that are a touch thicker so might hold the hole open a bit more. Thanks again for your help and interest in my problem.

      Contact your local tackle shop for areas. They know where to fish at what state of tide.I can't remember the name of this spot,but its quite close to Minehead

      When i fished here the tide came in and out so fast didnt seem that long to fish. Thats the only reason i don't like bristol channel goes in and out to fast and i hate lumping my stuff up and down the beach. Is there a ledge bit further out that can be fished for longer? I live between here and chesil but its chesil most the time. Im looking to get my first bass? Cheers

    It does seem a shame with the effort of getting to the water, cost or effort of bait , the heavy weights used and cost of tackle and the average size of the fish is what we catch on our local canals.I suppose its a sure sign of the damage commercial fishing does, not only to the fish stocks but also the reefs and prey food .

      bigger hook, bigger bait maybe

    • @TimeLimey
      @TimeLimey 9 років тому

      Fish a whole mackerel, bigger the better. Cut away the flesh on the sides so the guts hang out and use 2 large hooks (pennel rig) to present it. You wont be able to cast that far due to the size of the bait, but you dont need to for Bass. Your mates will stop laughing at you for the size of the bait when you start pulling in the lumps! Trust me, it works for the bigger fish.

    A mate of mine said when you are bass fishing at night ,you have to avoid shining your head light onto the water as this spooks the fish ,any truth in this

    • @TAFishing
      @TAFishing  8 років тому

      +Jim Mcgeachy Could well be on a dark beach,but Bass around piers,jetties,fishing boats etc see plenty of lights and movement so are less likely to be bothered.

    • @Noname-qk9or
      @Noname-qk9or 7 років тому

      yes that is correct mate! especially if you are fishing a shingle beach like the famous Chesil in dorset. If you are targeting bass at night then you'll need to make your light as dim as possible, or even turn it completely off.

    Sadly enough our bait shops NEVER seem to have fresh worms. Usually they are on the verge of dying. Even the frozen ones are utter crap (completely flat and literally stinking up the place from miles away once thawed). The rag worms are very tiny too, as in not even the length of a child's pinky and only last for maybe 2-3 days, even when taken care of them properly at home (fresh newspaper every day or kept in cooled and aired seawater that is changed daily). Just had to throw away another batch that I had bought just two days ago. 8 euros down the toilet. SMH
    Tonight I'm going to try a combination of mackerel with razor clams. Who knows, maybe the fish will like those better over here than those crappy worms (Belgian coast). There are literally millions of empty razor clam shells to find on our beach, so my guess is that fish here do feed themselves big time with those. Wish me good luck! :) Maybe tonight will be the night to catch my first keeper (wife has the frying pan already set ready on the stove LOL).

    • @TAFishing
      @TAFishing  5 років тому +1

      I have to say I have been buying pretty shocking worms all this year..maybe it was the hot weather,but they were soft and never seemed to keep or last,even when kept cool,so I can sympathise with you.

    • @TheOpelkoenjas
      @TheOpelkoenjas 5 років тому

      @TaFishing
      Well, strangely enough today I was able to get my hands on very nice looking black worms. They are still moving, plenty fat and no stinky-stinky situations. But I have to admit, I did order them in front (yesterday evening) in a bait store about 25km's further than the one I usually get my bait from. And got them this morning. Beautiful fresh worms that will attract fish without a doubt, yet cheaper than what I pay for them in my local bait shop. So I'm starting to get really suspicious about my local store. It starts to feel as if they are willingly ripping me off, simply because I'm a female in a man's world, if you get my point. I know it sounds corny, but my suspicions are being enhanced by the fact that the 10 men fishing alongside me at the shore yesterday DID have very nice looking worms, very lively and fresh. Yet bought at the local shop without pre-ordering them and some even bought them after I got the reply that "they were out of worms". Pisses me off, for real. Luckily my fellow fishermen were nice enough to "sell" me a few lugs (traded them for a few cans of beer LOL), so that at least I had something proper to fish with. *Shout-out to those men!!*.
