Man lifesaver!! New 2017 and no where in any of the manuals do they explain this (They Should have a supplement card for Shakers).. I really did not think I had the driver wrench but it was buried in the glovebox.. Thank you for showing this.. Much appreciated!
Your welcome Randy. Most of the tools disappear into mechanics toolboxes before the customer gets the vehicle it seems. At least when they first came out. Have you watched the video I just did last week on how to add oil using a special funnel that doesnt require removing the upper portion of the shaker? Make sure to subscribe and watch the other videos.
just got a dodge challenger 2016 392 hemi scat pack shaker about 5 months ago and can't wait to get my hands on my first oil change and your video was a great help. thank you so much. You must do more tutorials on this car... pleaseeee.....😃
Just let me know what your wanting to know. I ordered and angled oil funnel yesterday that I want to try to see if you need to remove the shaker to add oil. Will have to try it out and do a video if it works well
I'm taking mine for its first oil change tomorrow morning - 3300 miles on it - and I'll just pull the scoop off before take it in so I don't have to worry about them screwing anything up.
It's really all a matter of preference. If an extra few minutes is that much of a hassle to some, then those individuals probably never wrenched anything on any car ever anyway! In my opinion, the simplicity of taking off four screws along with the cool factor is way better. The ones complaining probably never even change their own oil anyway. To those who can shake it I say Mopar is running through your veins. Not the baddest boy on the block in its rt skin but definitely one of the coolest.
I fully agree. I know of no shop that would charge additional labor to perform that oil change as some have justified. If you have pride and passion in your vehicle then 4 bolts wouldn't bother you. If it does then you probably need to let someone else change your oil or just buy a v6 challenger instead.
MotorCity Mechanic Absolutely man. It just seemed a little rediculous for anyone to complain about such a simple and actually cool thing. I was really shocked to hear any guy complain.
+Kelly Austin when I first saw the reply that we are speaking of.....I didn't know how to respond without calling them out. But the other viewers took care of that haha. I have learned that there will always be someone complaining about something.....I still shake my head at times
Thats a beautiful ride.....love to have one myself. Get that brief moment every few days when I get to drive one after checking them in off the truck. Satisfies for a bit and then I starting wanting one again lol.
All modern Chrysler 300's, Charger's, Challenger's and Magnums have aluminum hoods and trunk lids....always have. If you ever see one that has had an engine fire and the hood is gone it's because the hood melted.
Guy Ko I too wish I could have one....guess I can just droll each time one comes in. I appreciate the comment and kind words. Make sure to subscribe if you havent already.
That was the perfect video thanks. I'm doing the first service for my 2014 R/t challenger ( yeah I don't use it that much) so I had to see this video. Just one question. What kind of air intakes I can install if I want to upgrade my air filter?
Thanks for watching! I dont get to deal much in aftermarket parts so I am not much help in that department. Sounds like you need to drive that thing more based on its age! Haha. I appreciate you watching. Make sure to subscribe!
+freebirdinct410 I'm sure yours came with one when it arrived at the dealer but some how "disappeared" while being checked in. I appreciate you finding my channel and for watching my videos. Thanks. Make sure to subscribe if you haven't already and help spread the word by sharing these videos with others.
+MotorCity Mechanic hi bro thanks for your great videos you do, I really appreciate your work, from your experience what affect the shaker hood more ? does water affect it while washing the car ? does dusty wind affect ?.... I bought a scatpack shaker and will receive it soon, so I want to be ready for it.
I just bought a 15 shaker last night. I noticed that the Shaker scoop sits a little crooked. When Im standing in front of the car looking at the scoop its lower on the left side. Is this normal?
+Tamera Huckaba I haven't noticed that as of yet. I will try to take a look at the next one I see. I am sure something can be done to level it out. Possible bracket warped/bent slightly. Something can be done. Just a matter of looking at it and seeing what is needed. Sweet ride none the less. Thanks for watching and make sure to subscribe
When adding oil....just the upper piece so that you can get to the door to access the oil filler cap. Not sure if you saw the video on the special funnel where I show that you dont need to remove anything. Hers is the link and make sure to subscribe! ua-cam.com/video/NWv4DvlgNg8/v-deo.html
+blaknite1 I am not too sure why they included the tool because any 10mm nut driver or socket will work fine. Its not like they give you an oil filter socket or 13mm wrench for the oil drain plug to complete the oil change service . I assume its more promotional then anything. Because you figure that if someone is working on the vehicle that they have the basic tools already. Thanks for the mention and for watching the video. Make sure to subscribe
+Shamayah David I think they could have done more by giving out tshirts saying it then something that lives in the glove box for 3-5 months at a time lol
I personally dont have an issue with 4 bolts. Alot of people for some reason complain about it because apparently some places what to charge more because of it and some people say they lube techs have damaged the rubber seal. None the less, I love the look of the shaker and if it takes a few bolts to remove to take it off....so be it. Thanks for watching!
In the market for one of these right now. Never gave this a second thought. I do my own oil changes. It should not be a problem to take off the shaker, but I can imagine someone who doesn't do his own work being intimidated.
+FourQed Most don't know about the oil filler being under the shaker....nothing hard what so ever. Just 4 bolts. It looks great and brings back some of the muscle car days. Thanks for the comment and for watching the video. Make sure to subscribe
Ohhhh but the look! haha. I fully agree.....most air filter lids have 4 bolts/screws so I dont see the hassle either. Thanks for the comment and make sure to subscribe
Yep, it has built-in drain holes. The large tube that feeds to the airbox would also let any overflow drain into the airbox which (from the factory) is also open at the bottom for cool air from the fender area.
***** Ouch....sounds like who ever checked the vehicle is has a new nut driver in their tool box....so not cool. I will try to check with my parts department.....not sure what luck I will have but I will try. Send me the VIN number so that they can try to narrow the search easier.
***** Glad you replied and reminded me. The part #....is 68290613aa. The tools is currently on back order and there is no price given which means too new. I would just purchase a 10mm nut driver which is all that it is or contact the dealer where you bought it and ask why the tool wasn't left in the vehicle when it was checked in fresh off the shipping truck.
dodge needs to pull their heads out of their ass and put an extension on the oil filler and could make the trunk area 8 inches narrower ( who'd fuckn miss it) so you could put wider wheels and tires on
ENRIQUE BUENO Great question Enrique! Actually I just saw in the latest mopar magazine that we get at the dealership that mopar offers the kit in two parts.....the shaker itself and then the hood. Just contact your local Dodge dealership and have the parts department look it for you
ENRIQUE BUENO I will try to get my hands on that magazine on Monday and get you more info. The mopar website isn't working well for me this morning while trying to find that info
What a hassle to have to remove that at every oil change! or to service just about anything! cool concept but it's not functional AND you gotta go through this. imagine them adding 10 minutes labor to your oil change...geez. Love the Challenger by the way. looks great...not worth the hassle.
+GameCaptain guaranteed your oil change place guys will sigh every time you pull up. By the way, before you say, do it yourself, it costs less to get a oil change than to do one today.
Excellent video, as an owner of a 2023 Shaker option.

I've seen two in person and they really look nice
andrew bradley I agree Andrew. They did a great job bring it back. I walk past on in the show room about 5 times a day and I still love it.
Dodge has done a GREAT job with the "retro-style" where others have failed
I love my challenger shaker

Nothing wrong with that. Thanks for watching and for commenting. Make sure to subscribe if you havent already
That was a good move. Service dept cross threaded one of the nuts and the nut and stud's threads are screwed up.

This is really good to know! I have a 2016 Shaker 5.7 R/T.
That's a sweet ride! Thanks for watching and make sure to subscribe

Motorcity mechanic I was curious on how the shaker came apart. Great vid thanks for sharing!
Your welcome. Glad the video answered your questions. Dont forget to subscribe and spread the word by sharing these videos with others
I just bought a new 2017 Shaker on Friday - most people don't know (and I didn't either) that the Shaker hood is aluminum.
I have never paid attention.....thanks for the info. Make sure to subscribe

Great info. Thanks for sharing. I cant afford one of these cars but this is a cool "snapple fact" to know being a motor head like myself.

Thanks for the vid. My 2014 Shaker didn't come with that cool 10mm Shaker tool.
+freebirdinct410 I'm sure yours came with one when it arrived at the dealer but some how "disappeared" while being checked in. I appreciate you finding my channel and for watching my videos. Thanks. I wanted to get a shaker hood put on my 2010 challenger after market.. now I don't want to.
I just bought a 15 shaker last night. I noticed that the Shaker scoop sits a little crooked. When Im standing in front of the car looking at the scoop its lower on the left side. Is this normal?

Is that the stock air cleaner box or aftermarket? I need to purchase one and having a hard time find anything other than stock.
How to avoid water into the engine? Does it have protection?
So for the oil change, I only need to remove the top piece, and it's not necessary to remove the bottom piece, right?

Right
I have a 78 Trans Am and I cut out the back of the closed off shaker and installed a flap so it can get more cold air to the carb.
Very cool
Mopar should have built a clamp or something anywhere hidden on the shaker to store the nut tool.
+blaknite1 I am not too sure why they included the tool because any 10mm nut driver or socket will work fine. +MotorCity Mechanic - It's called "Branding!"
+Shamayah David I think they could have done more by giving out tshirts saying it then something that lives in the glove box for 3-5 months at a time lol
Shaker looks great but what a PITA just to put oil in it. just one more reason to upgrade to the SRT...
I agree. they should have relocated the oil fill cap.
+goshow9999 u dont need to upgrade to the srt version just get the scat pack (with srt power) without the shaker. Unless u really want the srt version
Wow if you think four(4) screws r alot. I think u should be thinking about a car that comes with rice. My opinion. Have a great day

Ur right i do

+FourQed I would think most people that buy these kinds of cool cars dont mind tinkering with them I thought they actually enjoyed it LOL :)
Not only does the TA hood look better, but you don't have this hassle just to put oil in......
Gotta disagree. You ever drove one with Shaker-looks bad as hell. If you have, we just have a different opinion...
If you think 4 bolts are a hassle, you are not a gearhead and should not have this car. SMH
It is functional but Mopar says it's less than 5hp better.
Ohhhh but the look! haha. I fully agree.....most air filter lids have 4 bolts/screws so I dont see the hassle either. Thanks for the comment and make sure to subscribe
Is it really worth 2500 ? & Can you go thru a car wash with it ?
Yep, it has built-in drain holes. The large tube that feeds to the airbox would also let any overflow drain into the airbox which (from the factory) is also open at the bottom for cool air from the fender area.
I have an Shaker Challenger but mines didn't come with this special tool what is this tool part number? Thanks
***** Ouch....sounds like who ever checked the vehicle is has a new nut driver in their tool box....so not cool. I will try to check with my parts department.....not sure what luck I will have but I will try. Send me the VIN number so that they can try to narrow the search easier.
Sure soon as I get home

***** anytime
can you equip supercharger to a R/T shaker
That's hard to say. I haven't seen that as of yet. Depends on the type of supercharger. Space/height could be an issue as well
MotorCity Mechanic ok thanks for the reply. I will have to cross that bridge when i get there
dodge needs to pull their heads out of their ass and put an extension on the oil filler and could make the trunk area 8 inches narrower ( who'd fuckn miss it) so you could put wider wheels and tires on
Does mopar sell a shaker kit?
ENRIQUE BUENO Great question Enrique! Actually I just saw in the latest mopar magazine that we get at the dealership that mopar offers the kit in two parts.....the shaker itself and then the hood. Just contact your local Dodge dealership and have the parts department look it for you
Ok well I did this morning as a matter of fact but my local dealer is going to find out for me since they're still using last year's parts guide
ENRIQUE BUENO I will try to get my hands on that magazine on Monday and get you more info. The mopar website isn't working well for me this morning while trying to find that info
Ok the more info the better
ENRIQUE BUENO Just let me know what year your Challenger is.
What a hassle to have to remove that at every oil change! or to service just about anything! cool concept but it's not functional AND you gotta go through this. imagine them adding 10 minutes labor to your oil change...geez. Love the Challenger by the way. looks great...not worth the hassle.
you are lazy
+Mark
I agree, 4 screws is a hassle?
+GameCaptain guaranteed your oil change place guys will sigh every time you pull up. By the way, before you say, do it yourself, it costs less to get a oil change than to do one today.
+Mark Wetty I used to do all the work on my cars. Don't call someone lazy you haven't even met.
What i do! Take shaker off before u go.
Personally I would just change my own if you cant trust the people working on it. Then again thats coming from a mechanic lol
