    I don’t mind a laugh whilst watching a car review (most of these and car wow etc) but this had roughly 20 too many added clips, it was head mangling, clever links but no need to play clips of it all. Waaaa man.

    Great video. OSV UA-cam review at 13:20 say you get an electric boost from battery at standstill so response is then instant . Maybe it doesn’t kick in if, like you say, you are just slowing down coming up to a roundabout and then put your foot down to go and it doesn’t. Perhaps they don’t have roundabouts in Japan so missed this in testing?

    Wow, I spotted Eastbourne and Beachy Head in this review.
    My son and I had a Mazda 2 on loan a few years ago and the gearbox had a fabulous movement to it so I no doubt this is even better.
    The only other car I’ve driven with a same decent manual ‘box was in a - wait for it, I know I’m going to seem daft here but here goes, a Kia Rio of a few years ago.
    Great review as we’ve always come to expect from you man.

    I get Your point with no turbo engine, every engine needs a turbo.
    I haven't owned a non-turbo car for more than 15 years , and most of them were petrol engines, and lack of power on demand really sucks.

    It’s a classy car. I particularly like the interior for the same reason I like VW interiors - simple, unfussy, not showy, but high quality. I’d buy one of these if they put a good engine under the bonnet. I don’t doubt that there’s some very clever engineers working at Mazda - I think it’s be well within their abilities to sort the engine out. I wonder why they haven’t.

    No you don't have to thrash the engine. Utter rot spoken by every car tester that has grown up with turbo engines. I have had my 180 for 4 months now and rarely go above 3000rpm and drive swiftly. It's a very flexible engine very easy to drive and I get 44mpg on the average commute. I do wish testers would learn how to drive them properly before posting misleading content. Yes the suspension is a bit too firm on poor roads and you feel the extra weight when braking from speed but I love the design, safety features and quality and at 5 foot 10 tall there is plenty of room inside even with the sun roof. A great package.

  • @markl5681

    I like this review but I think you’re missing the point a bit.
    Mazda has never been about raw power, I’m struggling to think of a car they’ve made that is a ‘fast’ car.
    Even the MX5 (I own one) is not a fast car compared with a Z4 or SLC.
    But get an owner of one of those in an MX5 (I’ve done it) and they will agree it’s a better driving experience.
    Mazda is all about the relationship between car and driver.
    I think if you want a fast car experience, why are you even looking at an SUV?
    And as far as driving fast in the UK….
    That’s nigh on impossible these days.
    Performance driven cars have big wheels and harsh suspension, a complete nightmare nowadays on UK’s dreadful road surfaces.
    What matters to me now is build quality, safety, cool design and quietness.
    For me the CX30 has all that.

    The current Mazda are the champions of stupidly long bonnets. The craft they perfected in MX-30 (a.k.a. the worst EV in the world), a 440 cm. long car that has less rear legroom than pretty much any much smaller modern city car. The looks of the exterior of the car are more important in KODO (their design philosophy.....) than the comfort of rear seat passengers, apparently.

  • @kke

    Not sold on all the weird flaps. The effect seems mostly cosmetic. The cargo space is still pretty limited and not significantly larger than in the hatchback mazda-3 and the footroom for backseat isn't any different from any hatchback/sedan like a Toyota Yaris. I find it difficult to think of this as an SUV or even a CUV. This is a chubby hatchback. I hope there's a CX-5 or CX-50 with all of the CX-30 features (and maybe a touch screen for typing addresses to navi) in the pipeline.

    Peugeot 3008 is far superior to this, I feel it is really competing in the 2008 class of cars and, it falls behind that too.
    It’s just too small inside and very old school dashboard, ie, low tech.

    • @markgrondek5311
      @markgrondek5311 2 роки тому

      Agree it’s more 2008 competition. In Australia, the 2008 only gets 1.2L 3cyl. Feels a little underpowered comparatively. 2008 is more wagon/estate that may suit more owners. 3008 is bigger & starting price is more than top spec CX-30. Bonus points to 2008 for more of a SUV body providing extra headroom. Mazda seems a slightly raised Mazda3 with the body rationalised a bit.

    • @appleima24
      @appleima24 2 роки тому

      2008 is a competitor of CX-30. 3008 is a competitor of CX-5. You cannot compare cx-30 with Peugeot 2008 in any aspect. It’s different level cars. From quality aspect to interior, exterior design, reliability, philosophy,driving feeling. I had the chance to visit a car dealer that had both brands. I first got in the Peugeot. After, I got in the cx-30. That was it. Peugeot is a typical good brand. Mazda has made a premium step with this new whole product line. In my opinion, Mazda quality is only compared with Mercedes Audi Volvo and BMW.
