  • Ryan from MACkite introduces the all-new Axis Foil Drive board, specifically the 5'8" 70L model, which is the largest of the three available sizes (70L, 60L, and 50L). The board comes with a specialized bag due to its unique shape. Upon unboxing, Ryan notes the board's glossy finish and sleek design.
The board is longer and narrower, which Axis found to be the most effective design after extensive testing. This 5'8" model is suitable for larger riders, beginners, small conditions, or flat water starts. It features a dual-color deck pad for easy foot placement and multiple reference points, including midline cutouts and side markers.
The board includes a vent plug, likely Gortex, and has a flat bottom for fast and efficient performance. It has minimal chines on the sides and a flat tail, designed to provide a quick and easy riding experience. Ryan emphasizes its efficiency in small waves and flat water.

I picked up the 5’8” and got it on the water for the first time today in waist high waves. I’m 95 kgs and Compared to my previous 5’4” drifter it planes super easy( axis spitfire 1100 ) It’s a very flat board and not as forgiving with nose contact on the water having less nose rocker. Looking forward to the second sesh tomorrow to get to know it better.

Why no recess for the foil drive?

    5”8 seems way too long

Depends on your conditions, ability, foil model. I find I like boards at least 5'6" for versatile performance with a wide range of foils. -Tucker
