Totally excited to purchase this product!!!! Specific to my needs... I ride the Naish S26 Hover Wing Carbon Ultra. Have you tested your system with this board? Just concerned about the connectivity due to the carbon construction. Your thoughts please? Thanks!!!!

I just bought the gen 2 and waiting to receive it from the shop. I plan to use it with my Armstrong 115 liter SUP foil board. Total beginner but looking forward to getting on the water. Cheers.

I’m curious about ‘starting technique’ for the smaller volume vs larger volume boards. Are the sinkers (40-55L) boards, assuming you start lying down on the board but the larger ones (90-110L), are you starting on your knees, do you have to hand paddle one vs the other to get speed up?

I really like the Jimmy Lewis Superfly board. I currently ride the Armstrong 4'5" 34L board (but having connection issues with Gen2 and I already saw Dom's video on Armstrong boards). I put the mast pretty far forward (usually the back of the baseplate is on the 10 number which puts the front of the baseplate about 18" from the tail of the board). My only concern is -- will I be able to put the mast as forward as I like with the JL Superfly track system. I know you ride that board a lot. Any thoughts?

Spot on! My brain is tweaked , board design priority length, width and volume . At 100kg, I was very surprised how well the jimmy lewis 5'8 worked with FD Gen 2 and my bigger foil. Given my board length, feet location to get on smaller foils and smaller boards mast location changes, easy to run of track? Any thought on this topic?

Great info! Thanks for this video. I have a question regarding signal strength. Paul said that a full carbon board with carbon mast tracks may not allow transmission of the signal from the remote controller unit to the Foil Drive. Do you have any experience with boards laminated with basalt fibre cloth? It's only slightly more expensive than S-glass, but has considerably higher tensile strength, though not as high as carbon fibre. It's also a lot less chemically intensive to process, as it's made from 100% volcanic rock. Could be an ideal material for eco friendly boards for use with a Foil Drive! It's available from 'Sanded Australia' in various weaves and weights.
Regarding board shape, there's an interesting thread on the 'Progression Project' forum discussing 'mid length prone boards'. Obviously they are not factoring in having a Foil Drive for power, but the principles they discuss there are similar, in order to facilitate, in their case, paddling into unbroken waves. The basic idea is you want a board that has a long and narrow planform (shape when viewed from above), with minimal rocker to reduce the 'bow wave' you mentioned in the video.
It seems the general consensus for both applications, Foil Drive and paddling into unbroken waves, is that the ideal shape is one that finds the optimum balance between it paddling with the utmost efficiency through the water, and quickly getting up on plane, then when you're up on foil you want to minimise swing weight. It's great to know that volume is less of a consideration with a Foil Drive, as that means you can reduce volume and consequently swing weight is also reduced.
Thanks again for this excellent video, and for confirming the benefits of a slightly longer, narrow board (still a prone board so not too much swing weight), compared to a shorter wider one, like a lot of wing board shapes.

Watched a video about FD positioning and that some boards such as the Sunova are not really ideal for the system because of their heavier box section. Have you done any videos on this or an on-land test to see if the positioning on your FD is in the ideal place?

I’m 125Kg, 6’3” and 63yo. Are there board/foil combos that will work for me to learn on? With love, Ken

Hi! I’m 95KG. I’ve had a to buy a new foil, 1300 seven seas. Getting it up with waves, but can’t get it up on the flat with my 75l rocket wing! Useful to understand the ‘bow wave problem’ in this video. You casually dropped in that you couldn’t get the Fone board couldn’t be got up in a flat (because of the rocker)! I’m wondering if my Rocket Wing S 54l will actually be easier to get up! It has less rocker and is more ‘surf shape’ and orientated. Going to try it tomorrow…..so weird coming from a wing foiling background that a smaller board might work better! Determined to get this done…:much harder than I first thought!

So I bought a Ozon rise 60l full carbon board... and wating for my foil drive to be delivered. So will that not work just because it full carbon? No was to use an antenna or something? Would be quite easy to have a short antenna cable going up to the leash mount ontop of the board...

Jamie is am the same with and height as you and looking to get the new axis prone board. Which board would you recommend 50, 60 or 70?

Hey I believe you may have answered my question already and I don’t mean to be redundant, but I’m going to ask to make sure. So I just got my Gen 2 in the mail today and I’m SOOO STOKED!!! However, I do own a few boards but my newest, my best, my favorite is my Armstrong FG wing/surf 4’10” 38ltrs…..so what I’m hearing I believe is that the gen 2 will NOT work with this board and I need to get another board. Is that correct? If so I won’t install it on that board and use one of my older beaters until I can get a different board. But I don’t know if anything has changed since the making of the video or if there are just some slight issues but if I hold the left side of the controller down on the nose of the board until I get planing if it would work with the foam in the mast tracks of course. So please let me know either way because I don’t want to use my Armstrong board at all so I can get as much $ back for it as possible toward a different board. Thanks guys.

    1. When you say carbon mast tracks, do you mean 2 to 3 layers of 6 oz.carbon fiber cloth laminated over mast track boxes?
    2. If I have a board that is full carbon wrap with 3 layers of 6 oz carbon over mast track boxes.......will I have signal from rc unit transmit as long as I fill the slots in mast track boxes?

Best to demo the FD 2 on your board first. My friend bought one that won't work with his two Armstrong boards--really sucks. But his FD 2 works fine on my Fanatic carbon board. So, he needs to buy another board. 🥴😥
