Toyota Celica - Last one, it did have power, it had more power per liter than almost all other cars. It weights just over a ton, and has 190bhp. That's not bad.
J Anything you’re talking bout the 2zz putting out 190hp in the GT-S model the one pictured in the video is just the GT with the 1zz with 140hp
The UK GT was the 189bhp 2ZZ. Anyway, the point of it being in this video is that it didn't have any more power than the regular 2ZZ / T-Sport.
I think it was more about the ridiculous wing and sideskirts. I have a gts from 2000 but it has a much more modest wing, bumper, and skirts.
I actually like the GTS' bodykit.
The UA-camr face looked more rice than the Celica and Peugeot 😅😂😂

In US Scion tC replaced the Celica. Sadly production stopped last year...

Amero that's true. Back then this wasn't considered to be that bad but it's still rice for sure overall. Back then it was just a trend that manufacturers were hopping on so yeah your right. But now that we look back on it not that long after it's pretty rice

I don't agree about Celica GT but in the rest of these cars is true. Celica GT has excentric bumpers and the spoiler is little big but it is not overloaded when you are looking at.
I didn't expect that my country (Malaysia) does these stuff... And in addition, the _first generation facelifted Hyundai Tiburon!_

The Celica GT is actually stylish though and have pretty good 2ZZ-GE engine
I had a Celica GT with the silly skirts, the big wing, the splitter, stupid alloys etc. It was great. Mine had a few 'tweaks' so would do 0 - 60 in under 6 seconds too..... :D

No ECU chip, you can't do anything with the EU ECU short of replacing it with a custom one or using an expensive piggyback. Mine had the box out so I put in a custom build box with TRD gearing, LSD, longer 6th ratio, and uprated bits, lightweight flywheel, better clutch, solid shifter bushings, and the car was stripped out to bare metal in the back. :)
Acme with all of the custom parts and LSD why didn't u just buy a turbo kit?
Didn't need one, I enjoyed the characteristics of the N/A engine, and a turbo kit doesn't help you go faster around corners! :)
I have an MX5 now, I will probably end up getting a turbo this time!
I had to get rid of the Celica because I managed to crack the engine block by winding in a bolt which was the wrong length, and I didn't want to spend lots of time and money taking the engine out to sort it. Its currently being used as a track day car by someone who has repaired the crack with epoxy resin!!

+Special it's not for performance; the celica stopped being a car centered around performance after its rally days. The point is to make it look cool, which it pulls off just fine

The Celica can put out 190 Horsepower at @7900 RPM. You are an idiot to say this thing does not go. It only weighs 1100KG. If you keep that engine in lift mode it is a ball tearer of a car to drive.
plus that it comes with 143 hp stock, so that isnt bad at all really, compared to other new cars.

The celica is actually a rally car and it has been using as a rally until the sixth generation (T200) because the seven generation was fwd only, but the point is that the engine is small and an I4 because it is a rally car.

For the Celica, if its the GT model then yes its under powered. They offered that kit for the Celica GTS model which offered the 1.8L 2zz-Ge high compression engine that put out quite a nice kick at 180HP when hitting its "lift" or VTech at 6300RPM up to 9k. These engines where shipped in a variety of configurations being built by Yamaha and Toyota and where even found inside the Lotus Elise SC. Just a thought to consider. :)

The Celica GT lack of power? They are nimble and very quick cars, and weigh nothing.. Yes i own one as you can see from my pic, so you can call me biased but they do not hang about. They were tuned by Yamaha and meant to work in the high revs. They are far from the quickest thing in the world but they do go.
Also the rear wing is adjustable and actually is functional. Styling was a bit mad don't get me wrong but it is such a timeless car and if you want to call it rice fair enough but the engine is phenomenal and the car turns heads, not in a bad way.(Unless you are acting like a dick like it would in any car)
Just saying.
Slap on that Trd supercharger or an eBay turbo kit and work on other components such as the headers, differentials and etc and you could putting out 270bhp haha I know cause one of my closest friends has the GT model and it’s pretty quick

actually you're wrong. the Celica GT was 140hp and had the top of the line GTS with 180hp in the US and 190 elsewhere. more than enough power for the best handling Celica ever made.

agreed...except for the Celica, if you had the GT-S version and even the GT model they are very able to make power and turbocharge let alone the GT-S came with the 190bhp 2ZZ motor.. look up in youtube there no slouch!

+BB-8 Many cars have non functional (only for looks) bodykits and wings and they are not called rice,and Celica's bodykit isn't anything extreme,that wing is a bit too big but the car looks good.
To be honest a lot of cars would fall under the rice category if they had included a non functional hood scoop.

I have a Celica vvti (GT) and after stripping it out, putting coilovers on and a few other mods it has loads more low end power and weighs 1005kg as opposed to 1075kg it's just over 7 seconds 0-60 now
The STratus R/T was hott...2.4 turbo & manual from the factory (Yes SRT-4 drivetrain, before the SRT-4 came out.)
Also, the Compass Rallye was the little brother to the GC SRT. Looked great and also rare.
The Toyota Celica Gt was not that bad. Compared to the other cars in the video. 👍

They have a lot of deals with manufacturers, Proton makes Mitsubishi Lancer knock offs with a variant of MIVEC for example. Having spent time in Malaysia and Brunei, they actually have access to some powerful cars, it's not odd to see a skyline rolling about, the last series of Lancer they had went up to 2.4 petrol vs the UKs 1.8. So although they get charged for importing the ridiculously low fuel prices make running bigger engines a more realistic option.

Renault clio mio (it's a clio 2 with a few restylings in Argentina) 1.2 liters, but with optional rice things like racing stripes, fenders, bumpers, etc

i fkn love my 03 celica gt, its my first car that I bought with my own money , so I have some sentimental value towards it, I'm buying a turbo kit for it. I think people hate in the celica because it looks very fkn beautiful with the trd action package. and its handling is amazing.
