    How to stop raging in 2 easy steps:
    Step 1 - Play on the Chinese server.
    Step 2 - Don't learn Chinese.

      Shane Rooney Interestingly I do find people rage a lot less on the Chinese server, but that's probably because they talk to each other a lot less too. KS'ing is also completely fair game and no one ever complains about it, and in ranked I've not yet seen people bitching about not getting a certain role i.e. "Top or feed". They just respect the pick order and do what needs to be done. All in all I much prefer playing on the Chinese server than EUW

    • @shanerooney7288

      when I learn Chinese I will be able to confirm that claim. ^_^
      although, I can say that I never had any ping-rage against me when I stuffed up. So I am inclined to believe you.

    i remember 6 months ago when i first started ranking i was put in bronze I. i raged at teammates a lot and i never bothered to learn how to improve. thanks for your tips on climbing elo. your jungle guides are so insightful because you always discuss how to "read the mind of the enemy jungler". your conceptual play is amazing. im a proponent of what foxdrop says, climbing out of elo hell is definitely possible, you just need to work like you mean it. bronze I->plat 5, keep up the good work!

    Tips when I use to play CoD. These tips were thought up by me and used them in the 4 years of playing online.
    1. Chew chewing gum. I have no idea why, but it helps you concentrate and keeps you from boiling. Also makes your talk less.
    2a. Take an hour break and watch a TV show or movie that you like. Make sure this is not on your computer where you play CoD/LoL
    2b, Chuck some food in the microwave and have a nice meal. Most times when I am angry, it is because I had not eaten properly. Same with fluids.
    3. If you have a car, Just drive for 10-15 minutes. This helps with anything. I do this when I'm clouded with homework.
    4. Avoid playing when tired. I refuse to play games when tied since it will frustrate you because you're not doing as good than you usually do. Take a nap before hand.
    5. Make a scenario in your mind that you have been kidnapped and if you lose or go bad, you will be murdered. I rarely did this, but it's funny because it works.

    Very well made video! I actually take everything you mentioned in this video to mind already. It's nice to see it made into a video for the community to see. When I do rarely get upset during a game, I don't even take it to the keyboard. I feel that more people need to just keep their feelings to themselves, and this game will be so much more enjoyable! Great video!!

      I raged at other people at first. I don't understand it myself, from my current perspective, it was very illogical. I learned to stop raging in general, and the rare times i rage is at myself rather than others.

      Upon that though, raging at yourself can be just as bad. You start to feel as if you can't play league well enough, you can get depressed, and negatively influence your play mechanics as much as with anger.

    #3 can be counter-productive. Say the enemy team was trolling you and being successful. You're getting dominated by these dickheads who don't really even care about the game. When you picture them in real life, laughing, it doesn't help your mentality at all.

  • @hwilliampolenz6713

    I like the last tip about playing to improve rather than playing to win. Lately I've been watching replays after every game to see where I could've played something out better and often I find many many mistakes but I've also noticed that some games are more or less impossible to win. If I only wanted to win I'd probably be despondent after a series of games like that, but since I have the replays I can recognize the futility of that goal and instead prepare for more winnable games. Great video.

  • @envolopee
    @envolopee 11 років тому +29

    i just got to bronze 3. I used to only play ranked, cuz the trolls in normals are even worse than the ranked ones. I dont even rage..ill say something like "can i get a gank top, this guys been pushing all game" and the jungler will snap and say "i cant be everywhere at once!"...Its hard to speak with reason in bronze tho..cuz everyone in bronze doesnt think they deserve to be there. They all think they are hidden gods of the game. Im in bronze cuz i played ranked when i didnt really know the game..and im dealing with it. Do i think im better than bronze now? Duh, hence why im getting out of it. Ive been watching your vids tho, your jungling ones. So ive been maining jung, wukong and skarner. All people do is snap on the jungler, lol.

    • @bentomoswall
      @bentomoswall 11 років тому +1

      Okay first off. Wukong does not have any cc besides his ult. That means you are relying on your team to take tanks which in bronze nobody does. If you have Lee Sin use him since he can go full ad full tank and anywhere in between he is one of the few junglers who can buy a sightstone without the support thinking thats a message of -'You are not warding enough' (everybody is so easily offended). Also tips for crushing low elo- Go early game champs in most roles. Starting an early game snowball crushes the moral of players making them give up before the 20 min mark. Also push obj 24/7 people not grouping and split pushing takes low rankings off guard. Thats all I got cya.

    • @envolopee
      @envolopee 11 років тому

      Ben Wall Wukong can catch anybody off guard when ganking...he goes invis. He can chase for days, and tower dive at level 2. His mobility is awseom if you last his with your e. and if you max your q rather than your e, you can hit for about 200 at level 3, and the cooldown is 3 seconds. Wu is a fighter and an assassin. You can leave your w ina camp with low health and move onto the next one early. He can solo drag at level 9 if built right. And he can escape from almost any situation. I dont rely on my teammates to take tanks..And red buff gives you cc. And the game isnt about kills, its about tower, wu is great as pushing people out of lane, and getting towers. Hes a different play style, not a bad one. thx tho. And i do have lee, i dont like using him. Ps i have over 700 games plays in ranked, im not a noob, i just get trolled.

    • @Relrax
      @Relrax 11 років тому +5

      Dougal Skanes Hi, i won't argue with anyone here, i just want to add some facts :
      1. I think at the moment wukong is a better jungler than skarner, simply because he needs no items to be tanky and deal damage and still is more usefull than skarner in teamfights with his ult...
      2. Wukong mobility is awfull... he has like 1 targeted gapcloser, which is only on enemys... this is pretty bad xD
      (i should add that this is not that much of a problem, i do play Elise a lot, and she hasn't much mobility either)
      and still he has like 1 escape which is not really a gapcloserbut can be quite awsome
      3. @ Ben Wall
      yeah, i guess earlygame champs do work really well in bronze due to bad gold income and due to no / not much knowledge about the champions and what they're supposed to do...
      4. Jungler don't need CC...
      they don't even depend on their team, just walk infront of the enemy with Redbuff and attack him, walk infront of him... it's that easy, and when your team doesn't listen or doesn't help, ping! (or do ur shit alone [only to those who REALLY KNOW THIS GAME AND THE CHAMPS!!!])
      5. This game is about knowledge, people just don't understand...
      it's like chezz, as teamgame , but noone down thinks he self is bad, just that his team did shit...
      maybe they had an idea what they do...
      maybe you just didn't understand...
      or maybe they just play this game for fun, what is also one of the things player should do, if they don't play to improve....
      Thats all for today
      -- a Platin 2 player --

    • @envolopee
      @envolopee 11 років тому

      relrax bösel wus e targets in and aoe, i rush a hydra on him after my golem. If built right early he dominates multi enemy rights all games.
      Golem, ninja tabai, taimat, and brutalizer. Thats my core like level 13 id say. Counter jungling is an essential thing if you wanna pull this off tho. And ganking regularly, even if its just running through and scaring the laner. The pressure levitation from your laners gives you more opportunity to farm the jung, and the enemy jungler less opportunity to gank. In bronze anyhow. I dont run through the middle of the lane when i play with my gold and plat buddies lol. All you need to win in bronze in more confidence then the other players, cuz most really dont know what they are doing yet.

    • @PlayTheAces
      @PlayTheAces 11 років тому +1

      Listen, I got Bronze 3 as well, people just need to be patient about things, and there is no point in getting angry, which can keep you level, and the game wouldn't matter a week from it too :3

    how to stop ragers.
    be the biger person.
    take that anger from the mid laner and instead of the midlaner raging at the jungler for doing a bad gank because he took the kill.
    make your midlaner hate you, make him turn against you and he will get off your junglers back. i have been doing this for a while and its been working out for me.
    make love NOT war

    Taking a long break is definitely helpful to prevent you from raging further. Before I took a 9 month break from LoL ( my GPU overheated and spoiled ), I was raging all the time. People flaming at me, trolls, feeders... These just ticks me off. And I usually get into an argument with my teammates. However after that 9 month break I found myself more relaxed and calm. Idk how it will work on you, but it's definitely worth the try.
    Remind yourself that this is just a game, there's definitely people who plays better than you. Why spoil your body over a game? Getting mad is bad for your health. Accept the fact that your opponent is better than you, and realize your mistakes and improve.
    You can try this technique to calm yourselves down. Pat your chest ( not too hard ), take deep breaths and count starting from 1. Stop until the anger goes off.
    If your teammates are raging at you , mute them. Enemies getting too cocky and arrogant in chat? Mute them. Mute button is your best friend.
    Best way to stop raging is to uninstall LoL. Problem solved. Explore other games, LoL isn't the only game in the world.

    Excellent well thought out video, I especially your reminder that the other players are all real people. It's all too easy to forget that fact sometimes.
    I think many players would also do well to realize just how detrimental their negative attitude can be; especially toward someone who has already had a rough day... not just in the context of the game, but on an emotional level, it's like the equivalent of kicking someone when they're down.

      waffleartixfox not sure if I'm a bit late to reply to you but honestly don't pick Kalista if you're new. That has to be a really frustrating experience simply because her mechanics are intensive. Right now just worry about farming, champs like Annie make it super easy and you can learn the "rhythm" as per say. Anyway sorry didn't wanna lecture you, just sounds really unfair for a new player trying to play Kalista effectively, haha.

    but about rageleaving, i got in a game (i did very good in that game) suddenly i get shut down and half my team goes raging on my ass, they kept saying ''go away we dont need you, ur noob'' so i went afk, after hearing that im not needed for 10 min, (while holding my breath to not explode and burst out at those people, and track them down to kill them) and im suddenly the BADGUY and get 9 reports and a bann for 3 hours, someone say to me who is the wrong one in this: me the one who ragequit after hearing that im not needed for 10 min, or the guys (3 of them) who didnt want me and got all flaming on my ass

    • @BlGGESTBROTHER
      @BlGGESTBROTHER 11 років тому

      I think you are just as bad as the guys that were raging at you. You could have easily muted them, or just flat out ignored them. They were showing an inability to control their emotions, and you did the same thing in response. As the saying goes, " An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind". Next time you should take the high road, be the bigger man, and stick it out. It will make you a stronger/better person. Adversity is a part of life, you can't change that. But you can control how you react to it. Just my 2 cents.

      I find this to be a common occurrence in highly toxic games. Going AFK is indeed against the Summoners Code, and you will get reported for it. Even if they are raging at you, you are in control of what you see. It's easy to get riled up when bad things happen. A good way to think about it is no matter how bad you do, as long as you aren't legitimately feeding, you can't get reported. Having a bad game is not a reportable offense, but raging at your teammates is. Instead, mute them if you would like and then just keep it in the back of your mind that the Tribunal will sort everything out afterwards when you report them. I find that when I know someone is toxic and is breaking the SC that simply knowing that I can report them after the game is revenge enough for me.

    Play to become a better player, not to win.- One of the best tips I have ever heard.
    I play to win all the time because of my personality, I will try to change my mind-set to become a better player, but it's always so difficult when it feels like I'm getting extremely unskilled players every single game. 1 in 20 games will be awesome, great synergy, great teamwork and awesome plays. But other than that it is just people complaining about not getting their role or just can't play well in general.

      I agree with Nathan. I actually got called toxic for saying to communicate with pings because Im going to mute everyone as soon as I get in game. People take it offensively when you bunch them up as the same toxic people from your last game, so its best to just not say anything so you don't give them a reason to think negatively of you.

    That comes under playing to improve, not to win. If your goal is to simply win then the people in get in the way of your goal (i.e trolls, afks, etc) will get you really frustrated. If you're playing to become a better player, then it doesn't matter if you lose because you're not necessarily failing at your goal, self-improvement. As long as you continue to improve, your elo will rise. Maybe not right now, but definitely in the future.

    When I first started LoL, I was the rage-er when I played with my friends. This didn't last very long though when I realized that when I raged, everybody's mood fell with mine, and thus caused us as a team to play worse. The interesting thing is I never raged at any of them. Anger is easily induced in others even when it doesn't have a target.

    I've broken many mouses and keyboards in my time, I know Dyrus has as well. Probably many people have.Even the German video game rager guy has too. I would go berserk sometimes and scare people around me or my friends on skype. Over time, you will get better at controlling it, only if you make the effort. I was that person who "raged" however reading a few articles on reddit changed my whole thinking. There is no point to rage b/c a the ned of the day like you said in the video it gets u know where. So this week I didn't rage once and won all my games. One game in particular we were losing and our vi was toxic to a point of ignoring her. However I didn't and instead of joining in on the rage I did the complete opposite and tried to motivate. In the end we won and I gave teamwork to every1 but vi

    To go along with number 3. Even if it seems weird because you don't know if they are skilled yet and if you would want to play with them in the future, it really helps(especially in ranked) if you ask any of your team-mates during champ select if they would like to join you on, or even toss out your information to some form of voice communication (i.e skype/teamspeak info). Voice communication is extremely important not just for better team coordination, but also for being able to really understand the concept that the other players are actually human beings. You can hear their emotion and get a better understanding of the logic they used during each instance of the game. And if things don't work out well in the end, and you just plain do not see yourself being able to enjoy playing alongside that person in the future, there is always that block/delete button :).

    foxdrop, I find that it is hard to control my anger when I am angry because I don't realize that I'm angry at that moment in time (as strange as that sounds) I am more focused on what has cheesed me off. but If I become self aware of my anger while I am feel angry then I can take a step back from myself and tell myself that the anger I feel at that time is going to make this game ,win or lose, and other games that I play after worse for me and spiral out of control (go on tilt).
    Also when I get myself killed I take the time that I am out of the game to 1. Think about what I did wrong, 2. What I should of done (by mental rehearsal and visualtion) and if angry and aware of my anger I practice mentally relaxing myself and letting go of my anger with your tips from this video

    For what it's worth I agree that people shouldn't play when they're having a bad day. That doesn't mean that there aren't people who are doing that, though. Giving them the benefit of the doubt is a way that helps me to not get so angry.

    I actually used these strategies in my last ranked game. We had a jungle Gragas who talked trash, refused to help lanes, and overall, was just a troll since the beginning of the game. What really helped was acknowledging that he was a person, who probably had a bad day, was not feeling well, or some whatever. From there, I was able to not accept his trolling. The other team got Baron three times; 2 of our inhibitors were destroyed(nearly 3); and we did not have any inhibitors against the opponent. Eventually we won a few team fights, and climbed our way back to win the game.
    Just thought I would share. It feels good to enjoy the game without enmity. Anger would just stunt any possibility of growth. There's no need to take it so seriously; it does not have any impact on my life anyway.

    I have played this game forever and im always told not to blame my team and see what ive done wrong and fix that (in bronze we all know its pretty much always our team :P) This doesnt work too well for bronze! But the self evaluation does a littlebit. But i took you advice on not to rage and help fix our team and it really does work! In my last game our panth wasnt very good ult wise, and our leona noticed that and yelled at him! He ignored her, so i told leona to just calm down in a friendly way and i helped her to understand to give advice instead of getting mad. She helped him with the stunning and ulting and at the end panth ulted behind nexus and won!

    I don't watch Siv or Sky and I've not seen that particular Gbay video. This isn't a compilation of anti-rage videos, it's just my own one. I'm not surprised that others have made similar points though, no one here is doing anything extremely innovative.
