- Avowed is a fantasy RPG created by obsidian Entertainment the minds behind Fallout New Vegas grounded and pillars of eternity. The game is set in that pillars of eternity universe but gives you a first and third person real-time combat experience. Xbox gave me 2 hours hands-on preview of a vowed on PC and I turned that into an 8-hour playthrough. Let's see if avowed lives up to the hype.

My friend, it was gorgeous. Don't tell Obsidian, but I turned the FX down to 50 and left the music at 100 and it was a PERFECT mix!

Graphics and combat look great! 30fps on console though is disappointing. I hope a 60FPS mode is planned for the future! It seemed like your character's hands were moving oddly fast when walking in 1st person mode. Thanks for this Colt!

Looks awesome and i still believe they are working to get 60fps at launch. If this game was delayed due to making more room for Stalker 2 and Indy then theres no reason they shouldn't be using this extra time to get 60fps.

Avowed, game looks great! So it amazes me people are saying I looks lack luster. Only downfall after hearing your review is that it's not open world. But I loved Outher Worlds so I'd imagine this be no different. Can't wait to hop into this world.
Avowed does look good and I'll definitely be playing but I'm a little upset that they didn't stick with the more dark theme they showed 4 years ago

If Avowed turns out Great, it'll be played by so many Elder Scrolls fans coz they're craving for Elders Scrolls 6 since Skyrim including me. There's literally no game like Skyrim until now, Avowed looks like Elder Scrolls spin-off with semi open world which is great and it looks visually stunning, gorgeous art style.

No mod support. It will be played and quickly dropped.

nah im not a huge fan of first person games especially fantasy rpg adventurer. i like to see everything when im fighting multiple enemies. i sure hope they fix the third person view because the sliding around when battling is hugely distracting imo.

Looking forward to Avowed, thanks for the pre view and maybe I will have to play this one on PC if they release 30fps on Xbox. This generation has me playing more games on PC. So, if they can’t get their act together I don’t think I will need the console next generation which sucks because that means hooking up the PC to the TV which is different rooms as it stands.
I wasn't sure at first, but this video got me excited to play it.

EVEN the THIRD person... WOW.. the SHOOTING the CHAIN gear.. with METAL GUNS.. the tactile feeling of the bullets, kinetic motion very well portrayed.
Even third person Magic and Third person MELEE.. seems GOOD/GREAT :D .. and again its a slower pace .. action.. RPG... "RPG" being KEY.. WOW.. magic/WPNS/GUNS ... 3rd person 1st person.. WOW.

I’m glad they’re adding 3rd person. I’ll start in 1st person, but I just had to quit STALKER 2 because of motion sickness, so it’s great to have the option.
The music, Pillars of Eternity, I loved.
Questions about the UI: Are there toggles for the minimap and for HUD objective markers? I wish more RPGs used a compass and marker system like Elden Ring's: Unobtrusive, player-chosen, and immersive.

I noticed when you are walking in this game, your arms are moving like you are running but your shadow shows your arms barely moving. Hope they fix it before launch, looks very strange but overall, everything else looks amazing.

I think I will enjoy it. I like the gameplay for what I see already.
I like usually to experiment with different builds and here there is a good amount of different weapons and skill you can mix and match, it seems great.

She says at 15:00: I want to clarify 30 FPS is not our target, we will hit that at the very least. We are fully into performance optimization, we want to fully deliver a beautiful world at the best frame rate we possibly can, we're working on that right now."
I guess she doesn't outright say 60fps, but its heavily implied that's their intention, I would say. I will own up to that technically putting words in her mouth tho.

I just remember feeling this way for all the Elder Scrolls games (my favorite of all time is Skyrim) and just thinking that I wished they'd put in the ability for others to play my sidekick or pet. But I definitely am excited for this game!

I would cautiosly say "it should be good, PoE had a lot of interesting stuff in dialogues. Although for some people it was a bit graphomaniac.

I actually think it is a mistake to add third person. It takes more development effort from further refining and improving the first person combat and movement into a half-baked third person mode, resulting in both suffering, just to appease those who demand that feature. I wish they would have not gone that route, but rather just added a third person rotating camera mode for the purpose of visualizing the character. Another issue for me, though, seems to be the UI. It appears a bit dated, especially with the action bars and abilities displayed in an almost MMO-like fashion on screen, polluting the FOV. I wish more games took inspiration from Dead Space and Metro Exodus, and implemented a UI in a much more game immersive manner; regardless, I absolutely love the world of pillars of eternity, and this game looks like a lot of fun!
