Hey Phyllis! I know your post was some time ago… but thought that I would share how to make this recipe more diabetic friendly. I am type 2 diabetic but insulin resistant. I am restricted in carbs as well as sugar. I use almond flour ( 1 cup = 4 carbs) and substitute stevia for the sugar. ( use pkg directions for amount to use). I also use almond milk instead of any type of regular milk. Low carb eating allows more butter/ fat. It is the carbs / sugar in milk that effects diabetics. This turns out to be about 7 carbs for the whole pie compared to almost 200 as the recipe is written. Oh… and no coconut… I am allergic. 👍

She could come home from work and whip these up for dessert after supper because my Dad had a huge sweet tooth. The Mountain Cobbler makes its own crust too. Thanks for bringing back precious memories of my Mom and Dad.
I used to make this in the 1970’s too. My mother-in-law gave me the recipe. Delicious! I made it for her after she started dealing with Alzheimer’s but she remembered this pie.
When I first saw this recipe it was on either a Gold Medal or King Arthur flour bag -- as near as I can remember the late 50's or early 60's -- they had several variations to it.(different flavors) they also came out with a pizza recipe that you poured a batter (a little thicker than cake batter) in a pan and carefully spread pizza sauce on it and added the veggies and cheeses you wanted and baked it - it was really good. In those days almost every bag of flour came with a long strip of recipes inside.
Thanks for reminding me of the pour pizza. I missed those kits till I forgot about them. These days it costs so much to be able to buy proper groceries. This may sound crazy, but last year I had car trouble and hadn't been able to get to the grocery, all had was a couple cups of flour, 2 eggs, and of course sugar, flavorings and such. I thought what can I do. So I baked a cake. Problem solved, untill I could get it to the store. I have tried making the cornbread pizza, or whatever it's called. Almost half an inch of liquid corn bread mixture, put all ingredients on top of the cornbread mixture, (if using ground beef, turkey, chicken, etc, fry that up first before adding to the mixture) the ingredients consist of whatever you like or want. Bake all together like you would cornbread. I forget what it's called and haven't made it in twenty years, because I can't eat anything that's gritty, especially cornmeal, seeds, nuts etc.. Anyway that's a full meal unless you want to have a salad with it.

Thank you Lord for bringing you to my recommended video’s! I made this today and my whole family loved it! Made it just like you did. It was so easy. I’ve watched a bunch of your videos. Making your potato soup tomorrow. Can’t wait! God bless you and your family.
Thank you so much for this recipe! One of our Church members made this for my family when my mother passed away, and I never got the recipe. It was absolute comfort food for me😊 I will be trying your recipe out this next week when we're all on house arrest! Lord, I hope this virus comes to an end soon! God bless all!❤
We used to make these all the time for a quick dessert on the farm when we had workers in for clean up at the end of a fl iui ck of chickens. I love that almond flour can be used instead of wheat flour as I eat low carb! I probably will make one tonight! Thank you so much
My mother worked for a company that out a recipe book from all the employees every year. The first one that she gave me I used to make this dessert all the time .I don't know why I ever stopped I could not remember the proper measurements and I used the book to death that she gave me with that recipe. She also had a duplicate. She passed away in February 2021. I did not think I'd ever see this recipe again. Thank you so much.
Thank you so much Ms. Becky, it looks delicious, can’t wait to try it. Love your sweet spirit, you are truly a gift from God as his hand maiden sharing Jesus with any & all. You are a UA-cam missionary, God bless you & stay safe.
Oh my goodness, I made this last night. It is so delicious! I put some pecans and a sprinkle of Cinnamon on top. Enjoying it with a cup of tea. Thank you so much for this recipe. : )
Made this pie today. Turned out great. Grated fresh coconut worked well, once I stopped the bleeding from grating my knuckle! I didn't have whole milk. I used 1 1/2 cup Lactaid and a half cup of half and half. It's the type of pie you open the refrigerator and see and think "Hmm, maybe I'll just have a tiny slice" and soon, its all gone! Thank you for the recipe!
OMG this is delicious. Didn't have milk so I used the heavy cream in the fridge. Just watered it down a little. Worked great. If you add some melted butter to powdered milk or add canned milk you will a a full fat milk.
My man likes pie every Sunday, since he was in a nursing home for 4 years and every Sunday was pie day. I don't have anymore crusts handy, so I'm making this tomorrow. Neither one of us likes coconut, so I'll make it plain. I can't wait to try it. Thank you and God bless you and your family.
I totally enjoy your content. I discovered many many years ago . I have a serious addiction and love to eat . I recall eating pies like this as a child . At my uncle and aunts home in BethalSprings, Tennessee. Now that you showed me simple and easy it is . I'm going to try and recreate at least the taste of those memories . Thank you and god bless you and your family.

Seems like I remember a well-known biscuit baking mix having recipes for different types of impossible pie on the back of the box. This was probably back in the '70's. I seem to remember a Taco Pie. Now I'm going to have to research that!
My mom used to make it a lot. I have always loved it, and when she passed, I started making it as well - I use Bisquick in there rather than flour ☺️ Lord bless you!!!
I make for diabetic and Im not good with wheat or dairymilk. So I substitute slithered almonds instead of coconut. I use stevia for sweetener in place of sugar. I do put a few table spoons of sugar, like to make up the cup. I swap out diary milk for almond milk and use almond meal instead of flour..and lately tried maple essence instead of vanilla. I also add cinnamon and nutmeg, so yummy. Thank you for posting this recipe, I have passed it to cousins and his wife from Philippines adds sultanas. Love it!!
That looks so yummy 😋!!! I only have the basic ingredients not the coconut but I'm making it tonight with coconut extract and walnuts because that's what I have!!!!! God bless you 🙏❤️
Made the impossible pie today. Added a sprinkle of nutmeg on top & eliminated coconut extract, put extra vanilla extract & did use coconut on ingredients. Went over well with our company. Thanks for the recipe.
@@jackieb3056 From Lil Giant Did you eliminate the vanilla when you used the lemon juice? Did you put in two serving spoonfuls? Or two teaspoons? Two Tablespoons of lemon juice?
One of my all time favorite comfort foods! My Mom made these often and it was one of the first things I learned to bake. I love them with or without coconut. Depends on my mood 😉
I’ve made this pie before and this receipe is one of my favorites. Some pies have more crust than filling and this one had more filling. Perfect 😀 Happy Holidays.
Thanks for sharing this recipe. Years ago I made this pie alot but over the years had lost the recipe. I can wait to make it again. Thank you so very much.
I grew up on this pie. Its so awesome, even my picky brothers asked for it. We had it at least 3 times a week! I had lost the recipe in a move, now you reunited me with it!! Tfs and bringing back such good memories!
I have been making biquick quiches like that for years. Would definitely try almond flour with this for a Keto pie. It looks Ah-mazing! Don’t think I would even use a whole cup of sugar with sweetened coconut. I think I would use a can of evaporated milk and the rest regular milk for a richer flavor. So glad you remind us all to put God first, because that means putting our fellow humans first in His name.

Azalea Acres love I want you to realize something. That form of Keto isn’t the best diet. Nuts and seeds are anti nutrients. They are genetically programmed to uptake nutrients. Doesn’t matter that who husk them, wash them, grind them. They will take the nutrients you’re eating of other foods. Now I know when someone talks about Keto and substitutes, it’s because you don’t want to lose the comfort foods. Are they that important? You need nutrients to heal. VIP. As well as did the body of toxins! You don’t have to do toxic flushes. If the right nutrients make it to the villi in the intestines all is good. Eating anti nutrient foods causes a problem in this. Nutrients flush out toxins. Candida which we all have feeds off of sugar. Even sweetness that claim to be calorie free. Low glycemic levels certain people because of genetics, will see a spike even if it’s claimed not to give the spike. When you feed the wrong bacteria in your body, it will allow certain things to flourish! Did you know Candida will trigger dopamine release when you start eating the foods it needs to survive on? Candida and Fat stores toxins. We all have it and it as well can be a fuel. Please look into clean Keto eating. This is used for many people’s illnesses. From epilepsy, diabetes, immune issues, cancer, MS, kidney disease as well! I beg of you. I have nothing to sell you but to guid you to key words of info and the heath you crave, with information. There are many doctors that speak of Keto and more on diet and nutrition. Issues with MTHFR SNP gene mutations... illness and Keto~ Carnivore diet. The anti nutrient foods people add to Keto to make it fun for their pallets. So many oxalate’s and anti nutrients in the substitutes for Keto, breads and treats. So much anti nutrients in nuts and seeds. I beg. Please dive into the information out there. This diet has helped my grandmother with early onset dementia at 51 she passed at 98 and her dementia didn’t show until the last few years of life. Helped my cousin who has had sever epilepsy when given the polio shot at age 3. He’s 58 now and hasn’t taken medicine for his epilepsy which he took 30+ pills a day for... since he tuned 19. Took him a year to figure out his fat ratios. Has helped me with my inability to digest oxalate’s. I lack the DNA to host the specific bacteria that breaks down oxalate’s... I cannot speak higher to anyone about the healing affect of the Ketogenic or Carnivore diet. The specific balance as well within our hormones and eating raw dairy, grass pasture raised meats eggs and wild caught fish and shellfish. The master/mother hormone needs cholesterol it rules all other hormones. Without Pregnenolone your hormones would be in chaos. Could be from the pesticide laden foods, even organic foods are sprayed with Glyphosate. It kills the plants before harvest, you gut bacteria have the same type of pathway the plant has called a Shikimate Pathway. You - humans don’t have this, this is how the day pesticides are safe to humans, but it’s not to your gut bacteria! They do more than break down nutrients, the are the communication between cells as well help us make over 50+ hormones the body needs to stay in balance. All nuts seeds lentils fruits and veggies are sprayed! My father in law was part inventor of Roundup. I’m not without knowledge on this topic. I have Big AG on both sides of my family as well as one foot out of the Amish, I guess you would say Mennonite... the effects of pesticides on humans plants fish frogs animals galore. Check out Dr. Stephanie Senef. She will shock you! To much to explain I’ve already written a chapter. Haha. Please I have you nuggets of info. Please check out the info...

@@lisalisa-ge4ic I think she meant instead of the 1/2 c. Flour she used a few tbsp of flour...but a half cup is jus a few tbsp...especially if they are slightly heaping tbsps
What temp for the oven she didn’t say and not with the recipe in description
becky, You are so gifted at this. You include so many, maybe all, the details for each recipe you teach and your kind personality is there to see by all. You bring tears to my eyes because such love comes from you. I hope you and your videos will always be available.
Drained crushed pineapple is good to replace the coconut.
Grandma Sue in central Indiana and Izzi Too
oooooooohhhhh! Or strawberries??
Marilyn McClintock Thanks for this tip as I don’t care for coconut - I love the flavor of coconut but not the actual flakes😉I loooove pineapple!
Both sounds wonderful
LEMON😋
Or fresh ripe peaches! Yum!
I am from NZ and 70. My grandmother had this recipe in her (handwritten) cook book. I copied it out years ago. MUST make one!
Hi from Christchurch!

Hello Just wanted to tell you how much I enjoy watching .And to say thank you for all the recipes. We had your broccoli soup to night and it was over the top. I will never buy it again. You are doing God's work. Thank you so much for putting God first. Our prayers Don and Carol
Thank you both for your prayers and encouragement. You bless us beyond words. God Bless You!
My mom made that, excellent. We always had good homemade food, so prepared is not my thing.
When you said that at the end, Put God First, you had me. A new subscriber.
This was my grandmas pie recipe I have been looking for, for years. I cant wait to make it.
I’ve made that using Bisquick. I put fresh strawberries in the blender no coconut and it was delicious
Great substitution! Thanks
You just saved me! I wanted to make a pie & didn’t have a crust or feel like making one from scratch…Those ingredients are some that everyone has on hand, easy & delicious! Thanks again for another wonderful video! 😋👩🍳
You are so welcome! Thanks for watching.
My next door neighbors are elderly and self-quarantined. I'm going to make this for them tomorrow. Thank you for sharing this 💗
UPDATE: neighbors loved the pie! Much love and gratitude from Ohio!
What a sweet heart. Thank you for loving your neighbors. God Bless You!
You inspired the idea 💗 God bless and keep us all.
God bless all!❤
I'm a hillbilly and I have a kitchen! I LOVE listening to you and watching you! God bless you, dear! ❤
Thank you for watching. God bless you!
I used to make this for my husband. It was one of his favorites, and so easy to make.
My Mom's been baking impossible pie since I was a kid (55 years) and yes it is an Amish recipe from my Great-Grandmother.
Iwas raised eating this pie also.....I come from the Amish also.Left with all the yummy recipes 😋
@@rosamanor14 how long do you bake it for?
@@QuestionThingsUseLogic We've always baked it at 350 degrees for about 1 hour. Enjoy 🙂

We used to make these all the time for a quick dessert on the farm when we had workers in for clean up at the end of a fl iui ck of chickens. I love that almond flour can be used instead of wheat flour as I eat low carb! I probably will make one tonight! Thank you so much
Thank you, I would like to say, you are a blessing to the public on UA-cam. Loving your recipes 😇i
I love your show,I feel like I’m back in 1970....
Thank you for watching. God bless you!
I love your accent. Could listen to you talk about pie all day long.
I love that you explain what can be substituted/adjusted and what can’t. Super informative.
I love this pie, but haven't made it for years. I'm glad you shared it, as I have some eggs I need to use up and this will be perfect!
Can't wait to try this. Home healing my foot I had surgery on and I've been making all sorts of things. Thank you for keeping me sane during this challenging time.
Nice recipe. I love egg custard pie. And, for a change, coconut egg custard is really good, too. Thank you for posting this.
It looks delicious! I am making it tonite. Thanks for sharing. And true, God should always be first
Seems like I remember a well-known biscuit baking mix having recipes for different types of impossible pie on the back of the box. This was probably back in the '70's. I seem to remember a Taco Pie. Now I'm going to have to research that!
If it's no longer on their package just go to their website- I'm sure it's there and you just might find some other goodies.
My mom used to make it a lot. I have always loved it, and when she passed, I started making it as well - I use Bisquick in there rather than flour ☺️ Lord bless you!!!
I love the way you explain everything!
I've been making this for over 50 years and still love it. So easy to make...easier to eat.
Thanks for sharing that with us, God bless you!
I love this! Measure everything and throw it in the blender! That works for me!!
Love it!!
I remember this pie from the late '60's or early '70's. Thank you for the recipe!
This is a great recipe. I miss your bible verses. You are one of my favorite UA-cam channels. Keep up the good job.
Thank you 😊 There will be more. I am just waiting for God to give me something to say. God Bless You!
Try Fresh lemon juice, Love this way, mom made it, Wyatt's Cafeteria Sold too.
@@virginiaalexander4999 thanks I was wondering if I could get away with the Coconut extract as I don't have any.
@@carolcarr7867 My son in law said it was the best coconut pie he ever tasted & has requested it for his birthday instead of a cake.
Ooo!! This looks great! I think I know what I’m doing with my lemon & almond extracts! Thanks!
Omg! Thank you! You're such a doll! I'm so grateful I found your channel! I pray that God keeps blessing you!! ❤️
My aunt use to make this when I was little. I loved it so much and my dad my mom started making it. I still have the original hand written recipe.
Looking forward to trying your recipe
I’ve made this pie before and this receipe is one of my favorites. Some pies have more crust than filling and this one had more filling. Perfect 😀 Happy Holidays.
Thanks for sharing this recipe. Years ago I made this pie alot but over the years had lost the recipe. I can wait to make it again. Thank you so very much.
This is a winner! My son loved coconut custard pie and his mom is bringing him one!! 😘🥰😍
I grew up on this pie. Its so awesome, even my picky brothers asked for it. We had it at least 3 times a week! I had lost the recipe in a move, now you reunited me with it!! Tfs and bringing back such good memories!
I leave out the sugar and add cooked or steamed veggies and onions before you bake it. It makes a great dinner.
Quiche!
That sounds fantastic. I think I'd add some cheese too maybe.
sounds like a quiche
I have been making biquick quiches like that for years. Would definitely try almond flour with this for a Keto pie. It looks Ah-mazing! Don’t think I would even use a whole cup of sugar with sweetened coconut. I think I would use a can of evaporated milk and the rest regular milk for a richer flavor. So glad you remind us all to put God first, because that means putting our fellow humans first in His name.
Just add some ham, omit the sugar and vanilla for a perfect Quiche Lorraine.
Thank you for sharing and glorifying God with your talent!
My beautiful Mother made this pie 🥧 Thank you 🙏 Becky for this recipe as I have never made this pie

I’ve been bringing dinners over but not going in the house which is SO weird. I gave her an instant pot for Christmas that’s still in the box. Came back with me yesterday. Should keep me entertained awhile. Be well!

Haha.
