My fave would be dulense mini apo, solid pl option with low chromatic aborration and rainbow flare, nice build quality and light weight with reasonable price; second choice is grat joy 85 x1.8, constat suqeeze factor, really anamorphic, controlled flare, great quality and such a reasonable price, pairing it with open gate 3:2 camrea like my s1h is low budget dream
I love your channel, man! There are so many UA-camrs that only focus on the negatives of the bmpcc line, (which there are some, obviously) but most of them don't even know how to use their gear properly. You get consistent, beautiful footage every time! You know your stuff, and it shows. Thanks for sharing!
such a great video. Normally these type of videos only show 1.500$ plus lenses that are inaffordable for a beginner so im very thankful that you also showed "all in one"-lenses that are actually fairly cheap. Thank you.
Thanks for the updated lens line up. I often shoot in S35 on the Panasonic S5, so these lenses make a lot of sense for me, too. The Sigma is a very versatile lens, and along with a 24-105, handles almost all situations except for those requiring long reach. I have a Canon 70-200 like yours, but only use it now and again. I'm increasingly interested in the Zeiss Classic lenses in EF mount for their smooth focus action and crisp rendering and contrast.
Thanks for watching!! The Sigma is amazing for the price and range! Between the 18-15, 24-105 and 70-200 you can shoot pretty much anything! And yes the Zeiss are so special, but very different in look and shooting experience of course.
I am planning to buy a Blackmagic Pocket 6K G2, but have been intimidated by the cost of the lenses that are popular to professional cinematographers. This video shows options that don't make my wallet cower. Thank you so much! 😊
Are the Great Joy anamorphic lenses rear or front anamorphic lenses? From what I've seen so far it looks like rear anamorphic lenses cause pin cushioning while front anamorphic lenses cause barrel distortion. I'd rather have barrel distortion as an effect than pin cushioning which I hate the look of, and don't want to have to fix in post.
Would you recommend the 16-35 f4 IS over the 16-35 f2.8 iii? I use my Bmpcc6kpro with a gimble 90%of the time and need the lens for my fullframe Canon RP for stills as well ☺️
To be honest I have never owned the 2.8 as I shoot mostly handheld and when it comes to stills I capture landscapes most of the time so the F4 IS was always better suited to my type of work :). For you it seems the 2.8 would serve you well :)
bonjour, la stabilisation sur le 70-200 est elle vraiment utile si la caméra est toujours sur trépied? Et est-ce que la stab permet de shooter la caméra au poing ? J'hésite à prendre avec ou sans. merci d'avance pour ta réponse.
Just got your eBook! I’ve done a documentary a little over a year ago and have another opportunity for one that’s a good cause. I like your style and feel like it is a good fit for my style. So I’m gonna give it a read soon and see what I can implement from it. Thanks!
Hi, i just bought a Blackmagic 6K and i'm looking for a lens. Talking about the Sigma 18-35, i read it is an APS-C lens, how can i use this lens on Blackmagic since it's supposed to be a full frame camera, i mean, do you have to set up something in the menu? Is there some quality loss, using it on a Blackmagic?
Thanks for everything you produce on this channel! It never fails to inspire. If you only had a budget for one anamorphic lens on a full frame sensor, which would you pick, 35 or 50mm?
Thanks so much !! If you are talking about the Great Joy ones I would pick the 35mm for the focal length but the 50mm for the anamorphic look. Depends what you 'value' more :)
Have you tried the Canon EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 IS Lens? It's doesn't have tons of character, but for run and gun, handheld documentary work, it's a dream. I also use it as a gimbal lens, it's light, has a perfect range and the IS removes any micro jitters from gimbal work.
Yes, I actually had if for a while back when I was using my C100 MK2. It's a great lens for the price and the range is very useful but I wasn't a fan of using it manually and the image wasn't special to me.
What is the difference between the Reflex and not reflex version of this lense? There is a big difference in price. Thanks for your videos, which I am learning from.
Unfortunately I haven’t tried the 25mm. I don’t think you could go wrong with the 25 especially if it is cheap and in mint condition! I think any cheap and available Contax Zeiss at this point is a good deal :)
I am thinking of getting a 6k G2 as I have the Sigma Art 18-35 and 50-100, do you think these two lenses would be sufficient initially? (Currently using the Canon r7& r8 with a couple rf "L" series f/2.8 lenses, which I plan to keep)
My favorite lens is definitely the cine-modded Contax Zeiss Distagon 28mm f2.8, not that I have much choice since this year I decided to rebuild my lenses set, and therefore in addition to the Distagon I have a Planar 50mm f1.7 also It's cine-modded and a couple Canon FD's that I hardly ever use and maybe I should sell: the 28mm f2.8 and the 35-70 f4
Thank you for the video. I am in the market for BMPCC 6K Pro and lens. I see that the sigma 18-35 mm has full-frame equiv of 28-56 mm. So technically the canon 16-35 mm is noticeably wider than Sigma? Also with crop factor of 1.558x, the canon 16-35 mm effectively becomes 25-54 mm and 18-35 mm would be 44-87 mm? Am I correct with that assumption?
Using full frame lens on a crop body doesn't make it have the full frame equivalent focal length. So unless crop factors are different with two lenses with the involvement of a focal reducer (and one lens without it) they would be multiplied by the same number. Which would make 16-35 and 18-35 very similar.
I use a BMPCC4K and I'm trying to decide between MEIKE or Laowa for my first cinema lenses. I've seen your reviews for the MEIKE cine lenses and they look stunning, and from what I can find more affordable than Laowa's cine lenses. Though I first saw the quality of Laowa's lenses from your channel and I became obsessed with the image. Have you used Laowa's cine lenses before, and if so how do you like them compared to MEIKE's?
Thanks!! This is a hard one as I have only used the Meikes in terms of cine lenses, not the Laowas, so I cannot really compare. I did love the 'normal' Laowas so I am sure that they are great as well! I don't think you can go wrong either way :)
@@redcanvasltd3267 Thank you!! With the BMPCC4K I always used the 12-35 2.8 from Panasonic so it is much more expensive of course but I strongly recommend it as a general lens. Otherwise you can find some Canon FD lenses for that price and plenty other vintage ones I'd say.
@@redcanvasltd3267 You should check out the Olympus 17MM F1.8 Silver. Great image, compact, and it's about a 35MM full frame equivalent, and pretty fast. I got mine second hand for about $180 (I know it's a little more than the $125, but I'm Canadian so maybe that makes a difference). The great thing about the Pocket 4K is that native M4/3 glass is pretty cheap on the used market. Don't forget to grab a variable ND filter if your shooting out doors. If you don't have much of a budget, I'd recommend getting a single lens like that and then saving up for the Panasonic that was recommended. I've also got a copy of them, but used you can expect to pay between $700-$850 for a copy.
Here are my current favourite lenses to use with my BMPCC6K and 6K PRO.
What are yours?
Cheers,
Flo
without constant squeeze factor when pulling focus, great joy 50 is a no go for narrative works or any shots that involves constant refocusing

Bro I wanna buy these lense but do I need some lense adapter for black magic 6k and if yes which one please
These lenses are all EF natively (aside from the Zeiss) so you don’t need an adapter :)

Hey Flo ! I was surprised to see that you haven't included the Sirui Jupiter that you used in your 6k cinema camera test, is there a reason for that?
Hey, that's because I didn't have the lens 9 months ago :)
What is the difference between the Reflex and not reflex version of this lense? There is a big difference in price. Thanks for your videos, which I am learning from.
Im a film student and would really like your advice on which lense is the best? I also have the black magic 6k

@@OfTwoLands Yeah I thought similar. I'll buy it and put it on my 6k g2 and update here with what I think.
Hi There are the same brand of these lenses but with full frame what do u think of that with BLMPC 6k pro thx
Friends, can you recommend a fisheye lens with high aperture? The fact is that mirrorless lenses have such lenses, but not on the ef mount....

Definitely hard to beat that one!! Looks like we have a similar kit :).
can you use the internal ND on BMPCC6kpro while using the greatjoy lenses?
Yes you can :)
Can you use the Meike S35 set on fullframe camera's?
Technically yes but you shouldn’t as they are made for S35 and so you will get vignetting.
If i want to make horror movies and just films in general which lenses do you recommend the sigma 18-25 or the meike cinema lense you mentioned?
