Charlie is the man for the job. No doubt about it. Mad respect to him for being such a consistent, and incredible drummer for longer than I've been alive. The man is a machine! 🙏🥁
But he can't write a different tune
Charlie having that moment where he misses his friends at 9:45 is beautiful. Shows us just how human these guys are and how important it is to commemorate their music. To all the people complaining about this being Pantera reunion or not just think about whats going on through their heads when playing Pantera music. Let's be grateful for all this an leave the negativity im your pocket.
It's not Pantera, obviously, but they are still doing their thing and I wouldn't mind hitting up a show sometime if I get the chance. Also, regardless if it's "Pantera" or not it doesn't change the fact that it's 4 legendary musicians performing together and I have to say judging by all the live clips I have watched they are doing a pretty good job so far!
@leadme2thebliss21 Catch a show man, caught them in Tampa a few weeks back and was not disappointed. Don't get hung up on the "name"

I felt that moment. It was deep.
I had the honor of attending the show in Austin, TX last year on Dime's birthday. They kicked ass and at one point they paused the show and brought up a bunch of friends and family to do a shot for Dime. It really was great being able to hear those songs live again.
He is turning 62 this year... Goddamn! \m/

Charlie himself threw me a drumstick after finishing cowboys from Hell during Metallica‘s Detroit Michigan show. He threw it directly at me. He pointed to me and then threw it and I caught it and it’s hanging in my room right now, one of my biggest prized possessions love the man he’s a machine.

The drum sound he gets for the intro to Indians, has to be most punishing and fullest metal beats of all time. Its perfect in every way, flawless. The whole song just wails.
I play that intro almost every time i practice. Powerful!
The cool thing about CB is he's humble and not trying to replace Vinnie at all! Instead, making sure to honor him and his sound as a big part of the original Pantera. Awesome job continuing the legacy of the band and especially the Abbott bros!

Damn straight. I remember hearing Among The Living for the first time back in '88 and I thought, Jesus... who is this guy! And he was like in his early 20's then. I saw them '89 and I was transfixed on the drums all night. He was a machine!

I heard every single drum he hit and cymbal when Pantera was here in Winnipeg Feb 16th 2024! I have never been to seen Pantera before, but this show blew me away! Thank you so much for ALL you do to keep Vinnie and Dimebag alive in our very hearts!!!! Love you always!!! Forever a fan!!! 💀

Everyone uses triggers to gate their drums nowadays (which is awesome) but I was not expecting him to be using them for actual samples! Beautiful touch having Vinnie’s samples mixed in with the organic shells.
Tbh you can’t even hear it live. Their sound is such a mess when they open for Metallica

How dealed them with the latency ? Is there like more latency with the triggers ?

My old bands drummer had a 20" mega bell and it was so loud all the sound guys had to turn the mic off on that side of his kit 😅

There's no other man who could have filled those shoes like Charlie. He has everything Vin did down to a "T" and St. Vin is smiling down sayin Hellyeah brother!

Nice to see I'm not alone in miking my snare drum with a 58! I've been wondering if anyone else does the same. I sometimes wonder if people are so hung up on the labels of a 58 being a vocal mic, and a 57 being an instrument mic, that they don't even bother to try it. I bet a lot of people would be surprised if they actually tried it out.
Getcha pull charlie. He sounded fkn amazing in arlington. Before the tour started i knew he had permission to use samples from vinnie's estate but i though it was for intro stuff not triggers. Good to know.

I was thinking his kit had an Alex Van Halen vibe with the extra bass drums, Alex had some wild kits, what Charlie's missing is a fire extinguisher, Alex always kept one on his kit in case the pyro got out of hand.

Charlie and Nicko have been my all time favorite drummers since the ‘80’s. Iron Maiden and Anthrax have always been my favorite bands. And I’m 50 years old. Love Charlie!!!!

Well, his band must be falling apart or not that good because he left them to join a band that hasn't toured or released an album since 2000-2001.
@@leadme2thebliss21 Anthrax is the 2nd best thrash band of the Big 4 and are currently working on a new album (with Charlie, since he writes all the music)... and they have a tour planned when all members are free from their side projects (including Charlie)

Say what you will about wether pantera should have reformed but you can't deny they picked one of the best possible drummers for the job. Charlie is an absolutely incredible drummer and I can't wait to see him with anthrax at Manchester Apollo later this year

Saw Pantera in Denver last year. It was so fucking good.
This drumkit is beautiful!! Saw them in the Metallica tour and they were amazing in getting out the spirit of Pantera out and I'm glad I saw them!! Definitely won't mind seeing them again!!

Great interview with one of the true GOAT's, who is playing another sorely missed GOAT's music every night. That must feel very surreal. It's one thing to play in a tribute band, but to actualy be THE band, not the tribute, is, I'm sure, a very emotional experience. It's pretty obvious that's the case just in the way he talks about the gig. Charlie, you've always been one of my top 10 influences, in my own playing style. I learned a lot from you my man. You've absolutely helped to make me a bettr drummer, just like Vinnie did. When I heard you were the man that would be driving this absolutely incredible lineup, I knew it was going to be special. I can think of no other players carrying the torch for Pantara, than you and Zack. Absolutey perfect fit, on and off the stage. You guys are really doing it right too. The amount of respect, and love you guys are pumping into these songs, is palpable. Kudos to the entire band for giving us this wonderful gift. Thank you so much for doing, what I'm sure at times, is a very difficult thing to do. I don't know much at all about the relationship, if any, you had with Vinnie, but even if you never met the guy, I'm sure it is at times, very emotionally taxing. I know there's obviously high points, Of course there are, you're in freakin PANTARA! How could that NOT be a huge rush? You're filling those incredible, and intimidating shoes so well man. It's a testament to your experience, and skill level, that you wear those shoes, with confidence, and pride, but also love and respect. You're the man, man. lol

Charlie has always been my favourite metal drummer, cos of him I've played a novo China since the late 80s. And I love the novo as much as he does 👌🤘🤘😁

Great to see Charlie's set up. Suggestion for the video crew/editor. Shoot at 60 fps so you don't have to use an optical flow for slow motion, and can use frame sampling instead. The globby artefacts are kind of gnarly.
