    I’ve had a 2009 Speed Triple (lovely but lots of problems, fork seal leaking, failed rectifier, dead battery and knackered sprag clutch , it had done £2700 miles).
    I’ve also had (still have) a 2017 MT10, zero problems (one recall for a brake switch), suspension too harsh, brakes a bit average but what an engine and chassis, I sold my wobbly Superduke for it and it’s epic! Brakes and suspension are fixable, it cost £4k less than the SD and would smoke one.

      I owned a 07 S3. Mechanically it was pretty sound but the electrical gremlins on that bike..OMG🤦🏽‍♂️. Once i finally updated the regulator rectifier to a mosfet style and went with a optima red top battery it ran like a champ without issues. I sold that bike with 20k miles on the clock and she was still running strong. I will say my buddy owns a 2016 speedy and he rides it like he stole it everywhere he goes. That thing hasn't gave him a lick of trouble since he bought it back in 2016. Even though my mt has much more power i miss the charm of that old speedy.

    I have never tried a MT10 but is a bike I have always had interest in. From the 2021 crop of supernakeds i have tried the Speed Triple 1200 RS, SuperDuke 1290R, Tuono V4 and S1000R. The Tuono still has the most characterful engine but is showing its age. The BMW has an amazing chassis and gearbox but the engine is criminally bland. The KTM is quite good but the Triumph is the best, unquestionably. One of the things i like about a naked bike is the feeling of riding a magic carpet so I prefer a naked that puts nothing in front of my sight. My main concern about the Speed Triple 1200RS is having too much power. Yes, i think these current super naked would be more fun if they had less power. Even if the 1160 engine is more exciting I think my former Speed Triple 1050 was more enjoyable on the road than the new 1200RS. I currently own a Tuono V4R and a Street triple 675R and on a B-road i find the Triumph more fun and one of the reasons is its engine being much more exploitable. That's the reason, going back to Yamaha, that I'm more interested in the 3rd generation MT09 than the MT10. And regarding Triumph, the next Street triple, which I bet will be a 900cc, will probably be the best naked sportsbike of them all.

      @@MOTOUK1 Yes. For me the highlight was how plush the suspension is. And is typically a Triumph, great brakes, great suspension, easy to ride, smooth, beautifully made. A fantastic bike, probably the best roadbike on sale today. I love the riding position of the Street Triple, sporty yet confortable. The sound of the 765 motor is awesome, and it has a great top end power. Was not impressed with the graphics of the TFT. On the Speed Triple 1200RS my main critic is also the TFT, too small and slow. The BMW S1000R feels almost as light and nimble as the Street Triple 765RS which is impressive. But the 4 cylinder engine in the BMW, while faster than the 765, has no character.

      Hey Bruno, yes agree on the screen, I struggled to see the Rev counter! And agree the dash or layout is either too small on the speed triple or too far away would like it near bars and not all the way down on the headlight. Great bikes though very refined

      @brunocarmona4958 2 роки тому +1

      @@MOTOUK1 have to agree with you on the screen being too far. I love the look of the Speed Triple RS, by far the most beautiful in the segment. And the RR is even better, a work of art. Albeit I'm afraid Triumph went too far when lowering the clip ons. I hope that Triumph also brings a Sprint Sport Tourer with the 1160 engine. The headlights of the Trident Sport 660 are not shared with other model in the line-up. Would Triumph develop these headlights only for this model? I don't think so. I wonder which bikes will have them in the future... Tiger Sport 1200? Sprint ST 1200? Daytona 900?

    Regardless I have found that its not that bad.
    You just have to be really light footed with it and realise that there is a slight delay on the gear readout so to be patient with it.

    44.5 mpg on the Yamaha? No way, ever! It's a good day when I just barely pass the 29 mpg range in the mixed riding of daily life. If I locked it in cruise for the tank full, maybe 32 or so mpg but that's not this bike's environment. I've owned mine for 4 years and follow reports on UA-cam of other reviewer's. You're just quoting propaganda on this point. Reliability and problem free this motorcycle is with a fine sense of power and grunt. Mine is the standard version.

      I was stating Yamaha factory and triumph factory figures, of course these are manufacture best case scenario figures. Not real case figures as I would need to ride the triumph longer to get these. Tbh I think the Yamaha best case figure is spot on as I once had 178 miles on motorway at 70 mph on a full tank. But on normal riding I get approx 130miles to a tank. Was better from a stock bike on mpg after I had the bike tuned on a dyno and fuelling corrected.

      @@MOTOUK1 Thanks for the patient response. I'm always in the 29mpg range, occasionally in the 28's when checking with my calculator. In these almost 4 years of ownership I've only slightly gone over 30 mpg once or twice. I'm 73 year old and ride it less aggressively then many yet still often wind it out with glee when out-of-town. It's absolutely astounding to me to hear of your considerably greater mileage performance albeit I've never ridden to an empty tank since my fuel gauge starts flashing the low symbol, again generally after 90 miles of travel. I guess I'll have to carry a reserve can and learn the limitations. You gotta admit the fuel gauge leaves something to be desired with it's big leaps in reported content. All the best, pal!

    I would say the Yamaha but always hesitated with the MT-10 because of it's inferior brakes. Triumph too bland sounding and the ride too stiff, not compliant enough for the road. Loved the previous gen Speed Triple but it didn't have enough grunt compared to it's competitors.
