I saw the show also and one thing that hit me was him singing ,stripped down. Being so close was incredible and his voice was amazing and to see him singing With Or without You for example was just stunning.
Great review of an awesome show … albeit I saw it in Manchester, UK. It’s been mentioned in the comments, but you’ve got to get and listen to the Audible audiobook. It’s even more amazing, with Bono narrating and all the audio clips (no spoilers !).
One of the great things about Bono’s book and what came across in the solo “show” for me anyhow - was that he is very likeable. You often hear the saying “don’t meet your heroes …” - well Bono lived up to my expectations. He doesn’t take himself as seriously as many would have you believe and he’s clearly aware of his critics and what they say - sometimes he agrees with them😂
Wow! So we are probably the same age, got into U2 at 10 years old listening to October and War laying next to my oldest brothers door. I’ve seen them 12 times, 3 ZooTV’s, 3 Popmarts, 3 Elevations, 2 Vertigo’s and one 360. I live just outside of Nashville and have a beard. Hmmmm. This is weird. I was out of town for the show, but hear it is phenomenal. Looking forward to Songs of Surrender, I guess now pushed to 2023.
Obviously, there were a few who didn't lock up their phone or had cameras since short videos are popping up here or there. Cannot compare to being there. It transported you into his story, as if he was speaking to ea h one of us personally. I, too, had to spend more than I ever had for a live show. Let me tell you, after having been there, I'd pay it again to see it one more time. It was amazingly spiritual, personal, emotional, very humorous, intensely sad and also euphoric.
Seen him in Dublin in the Olympia, holds 1200 so mad to see him up close. As an Irish man I have a love hate relationship with Bono, the music is great (apart from No line on the horizon, very poor album) but Bono sometimes just gets on my nerves, this however I really enjoyed, loved the I will Follow story and the opera song at the end, incredible. It was filmed in Dublin so Im guessing it will come out on DVD or streamed at some point in the future
Sounds like a cool show, my brain would be spinning too much to appreciate it.. I'm hoping he'll turn the book into an audio book, with him reading it.
UA-camr With A Spinning Head! That was something of the sensation for me, though I may have been JUST far enough from the stage for optimal enjoyment...
Here is the show again in Chicago: ua-cam.com/video/Ppho-uZWNxk/v-deo.html I saw the show in Glasgow and met the man himself! One of the best moments of my life! Great review and I had very similar feelings about it all. An amazing night seeing Bono up close and hear his story in person. An amazing night!
Woah, that's awesome that you got to meet him! I'd probably embarrass myself if I ever did. On my short list of people I feel a deep need to thank for their artistic contributions.

Yeah, he sounded great, THAT VOICE!
Nice post...thank you ..✌
Thank you too!

Very cool - I think I shall - I’m about 1/3 through reading it. It’s fantastic!

Is Songs of Surrender the title of their next album?
I’d love for them to do an Achtung Baby anniversary tour like they did for JT. The ZooTube tour…

Oh man, a Dublin recording of this show would be AMAZING. Hope it happens. They locked down our phones at the Ryman in Nashville...
