Ioniq 6 and EV6 both have V2L so the Ioniq 5 does not really stand out there. The third party adapter is cheaper than the Hyunday/Kia part, but only sports a US socket, which is not so useful in Europe.
Who cares, you have to be stopped. All Evs have 12v lighters inside. I wouldn’t want to drain my driving range for anything, let a alone for a laptop. If you are somewhere without a plug, you are far enough from a charging station also. This is just dumb…
@@gastonjones3950 Some people have plenty of range to get to a charging station while still needing an electrical outlet at their destination. That's like saying why turn the air conditioner on and drain your range? It's for convenience. Not that hard to understand.
@@RoyGregorio Why not use your 12v cigarette lighter port? If its not efficient to run in 12v, you shouldn't be using it. Electric Grill in the woods? Why not use a regular burning grill. You can inflate a mattress with 12v also. I think this is just dumb, and in no way a ultimate advantage lmao...
@@gastonjones3950 everybody has different needs. Just because it doesn't fit yours, doesn't mean it's dumb. I'm a videographer and I shoot on location and I often use high wattage video lights that could only be powered with the V2L. Doesn't matter what it's for. If it makes it more convenient for them, that's what they paid for.
@@gastonjones3950 I could see this being pretty useful for tailgating at a sporting event or concert. Not too far from charging, but a place where a grill or speakers or lights or other goodies would be nice. And some interesting uses for camping, too, although you'd have to be careful to make sure you've still got plenty of juice to get home.
Title is misleading and there are better ways to charge your laptop without sacrificing your high voltage battery when you are far from home or a regular outlet… Portable power stations will do all of this without the risk of range drain.
Great review! TY for sharing.

I really like the Ioniq5 the ONLY downside I could see was its bigness really when I went to see them...
Extra space!!

This is a non issue. No idea why this guy and Hyundai made a big deal about it.
Wait for the next power outage
@@Demobot1 I don't know where you live, but the worst for me in the last gizillon years has been 1 day without power.
